In this enlightening episode, I had a conversation with the renowned spiritual leader and bestselling author, Marianne Williamson, to explore the deep themes of love, fear, and empowerment. Marianne shares insights from her decades of experience in spiritually progressive movements, her groundbreaking books, and her vision for a more compassionate and loving world. Highlights From This Episode: Redefining Salvation: The discussion contrasts the traditional Christian view of salvation (focused on inherent sinfulness and redemption through Jesus) with a more mystical interpretation that emphasizes inherent innocence and the need for a change in thought rather than punishment. Our Inherent Innocence: Marianne highlights the idea that humans are inherently innocent, created by God as extensions of love. This contrasts sharply with the traditional belief in original sin and the need for redemption. The Holy Spirit As Guidance from Within: The conversation emphasizes that God provides the Holy Spirit as a means to navigate life's challenges. The Holy Spirit helps individuals correct their thoughts and find love in their experiences. The Power of Forgiveness: Marianne discusses the significance of forgiveness and the power of prayer. They emphasize that being willing to see others differently can lead to personal transformation and healing. The Practical Application of Spiritual Teachings: Marianne explains that true spiritual growth comes from applying the principles learned in spiritual texts (like A Course in Miracles) in everyday life. This requires moving from intellectual understanding to heartfelt action. Community and Connection: The conversation touches on the importance of being surrounded by others who are also seeking spiritual growth. It stresses that connection with others can help individuals stay aligned with their purpose and values. Choosing Love Over Fear: The closing discussion encourages listeners to make conscious choices that align with love rather than fear, promoting the idea that individuals can create a "heaven on earth" through their thoughts and actions. Marianne Williamson's Latest Book: The Mystic Jesus: The Mind of Love – Available online and at bookstores everywhere. In this interview, we talk about A Course in Miracles as well as Marianne's new book, The Mystic Jesus: The Mind of Love. Some of our conversation highlights include: how it serves us to understand Jesus not only as a historical figure, but as an inclusive, non-denominational inner teacher and a consciousness of pure love (which we can learn to cultivate in ourselves) how we've gotten so caught up in ego attachments, agendas, and conflict... and how to begin untangling from that what to do when we feel triggered, hurt, or offended by someone... without reactively going on the attack how to stop taking things personally and see the bigger picture (with some helpful anecdotes and illustrations from Marianne's own life) Marianne's inspiration for writing this book NOW, at this particular moment in history To connect with Marianne, please visit https://marianne.com or https://instagram.com/mariannewilliamson You can also join my email community and get access to my free Akashic Records Mini Course + weekly newsletter: https://josephinehardman.com/akashic-records-intro/ Visit my website: https://josephinehardman.com Thank you for being here, doing your inner work, and leading the way for others with your light. (Originally aired on March 27, 2023) Marianne Williamson, a Democratic presidential candidate for the 2024 election, joins Andrew in the Ivory Tower Boiler Room. Marianne is a political activist, spiritual leader, and best-selling author. In total, she has published 15 books, 4 are #1 NY Times best sellers. In 1989, she founded Project Angel Food, a nonprofit organization that aims to deliver nourishing meals to those with serious illnesses who are home-bound. In 2004, she co-founded The Peace Alliance, a nonprofit organization that pushes for a U.S. Department of Peace. Marianne and Andrew discuss the current political and social climate of the United States, particularly the anti-LGBTQ+ policies that have been consuming the public. Marianne calls it an “explosion of mean-spiritedness.” She mentions the homophobia, racism, antisemitism, and other prejudices that are plaguing the U.S. and emphasizes the need to fight for justice. Marianne talks about the formation behind prejudices. They start as a thought, merge into a behavior, then manifest into a collectiveness of hatred. To combat this negative energy, Marianne explains that we need to harness the power of love in our politics! Love has been the driving force behind movements such as the women's suffrage movement and the abolitionist movement. On inequality, Marianne discusses how “democracy has not delivered on its promises” for decades. The power is in the hands of corporations, not the people, and that's why we can't get the same benefits as other advanced democracies such as universal healthcare, free tuition, and family leave. Marianne also recalls her past, revealing what she wishes she could tell her younger self: savor the present moment, enjoy youth, and believe that everything will one day fall into place. Undoubtedly, Marianne has left us with inspiring advice for our viewers. She's running for the Democratic nomination. If elected, Marianne will be the first female, the first mother, and the first grandmother to be President of the United States. How often did you successfully use your fake ID? And how easy is it to fake your mom's signature? OK, ok, you know you did this stuff, too. In this episode of the Darin Olien show, we will explore the need for collective responsibility in dealing with various societal issues, primarily the extent of corporate influence on US policy decisions, and how individual action alone is not sufficient to bring about meaningful change. My guest Marianne Williamson explains how the power of collective action is being underestimated and should be leveraged more effectively to challenge corporate influence and advocate for social justice. My hope with this episode is to highlight the urgent need our country has for radical change and the crucial role each person plays in shaping the world around us. Plus, the importance of electing a president who is willing to challenge the corporate duopoly and stand up against corporate interests. In this monumental episode we got to sit down with someone who has been a powerful change maker in both of our personal and spiritual journeys, Marianne Williamson. Marianne has been a leader in spiritual and religiously progressive circles for over three decades, published 15 books and is a 4 time NY Times Best Selling Author, and is the founder of Project Angel Food, a non-profit organization that has delivered more than 16 million meals to ill and dying homebound patients since 1989; originally created to help people suffering from the ravages of HIV/AIDS. Marianne also co-founded The Peace Alliance in 2004, and is currently running for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination. Marianne graciously sat down with us to talk about: Getting real with ourselves in this current moment in history and asking ourselves: Who do I want to be? How do I want to show up? What does integrity look and feel like for me? How it's time for women (especially American women) to shift the focus away from men to ourselves, and take accountability for our own role in upholding patriarchal structures so we may begin to do the deep inner healing and generational cycle breaking that is required to stop metaphorically burning our sisters at the stake. The challenge of choosing love and forgiveness in a time when it may feel almost impossible to pull ourselves out of fear and “othering.” Living your spiritual principles in your real, physical life and not just in the abstract. It's truly hard to put into words the impact Marianne has had on both of our lives. Regardless of your politics, she is someone who is transformative and inspiring. Meet Marianne Williamson Marianne Williamson is a bestselling author, political activist, and spiritual thought leader. She has been a leader in spiritual and religiously progressive circles for over three decades. She is the author of 15 books, four of which have been #1 New York Times bestsellers. Williamson founded Project Angel Food, a non-profit organization that has delivered more than 14 million meals to ill and dying homebound patients since 1989. The group was created to help people suffering from the ravages of HIV/AIDS. She has also worked throughout her career on poverty, anti-hunger, and racial reconciliation issues. In 2004, she co-founded The Peace Alliance and supports the creation of a U.S. Department of Peace. Williamson ran for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020. And she'll be running for president again in 2024! To learn more about how you can support Marianne, go to: Marianne2024.com This conversation was one I'd been waiting to have for years. I became a fan of Marianne's years ago when I read her book Illuminata and became interested in A Course In Miracles. Marianne is known for her brilliant wisdom, spiritual teachings, and social justice work based on the principles from A Course In Miracles. I recently read Marianne's book, "A Politics of Love: A Handbook for a New American Revolution," and was overwhelmed by her visionary perspective on bridging the gap between spirituality and politics. We discussed the tenets in the book and how to start shifting our relationship to politics and ourselves through the practical application of love, well-being for all, and social justice. Love as a Transformative Force Marianne Williamson asserts that love is not merely a personal or romantic sentiment but a powerful force for positive societal change. We discussed how politics devoid of love and compassion perpetuates division and suffering, while politics grounded in love can heal and transform. This is as basic as seeing a child who's hungry and feeding them. We are wired for love and compassion, yet somewhere along the line lose this innate connection. Moral and Spiritual Awakening Marianne calls for a moral and spiritual awakening among individuals and society, as a whole. This means changing our internal narrative of not being political, which I can relate to. She is urging us to take a stand for democracy, or we seriously risk losing our freedom. Marianne believes an inner transformation is essential for addressing the pressing challenges we face collectively, such as inequality, environmental degradation, and social injustice. This brings us to why we must all do our inner work to heal past traumas, resentments, and grievances. In other words, you must do your part to be your ‘You-est You' before we can be our ‘We-est We.' Politics as an Expression of Love Marianne also encourages individuals to engage in politics to express their deepest values and spiritual beliefs. She emphasizes the importance of aligning political choices with personal integrity, empathy, and a commitment to the common good. Love in action is how we commit to greater social justice and economic equality. This means we do our inner work to address systemic injustices perpetuating poverty, racism, sexism, and other forms of oppression. I love that Marianne focuses on love-based politics that can bring about meaningful change and create a more equitable society. As she shared in this interview, let us not forget Abraham Lincoln's poignant quote, “With malice toward none with charity for all.” Taking Personal Responsibility Don't underestimate your importance and power in creating greater change for freedom, justice, and joy for everyone. Marianne stands for putting "A Politics of Love" into action by embracing the question, ‘What is the most loving thing you can do here?', and a commitment to social justice. She takes a holistic viewpoint toward transforming our society and country. It's Time We All Do Shadow Work Doing shadow work means meeting the challenging and triggering parts of ourselves that need, want, and require our compassion, attention, and love. What is needed on an individual level is also needed at a collective level. We discussed the necessity of our society owning that in addition to our inner shadows, ego-based judgments, and ‘attack thoughts', we also have this work to do on a national and collective level. This is something that we can all strive to do every time we embrace a challenging situation or person with love, understanding, and true forgiveness. Welcome back to another mind-blowing episode of The Long Game series. We'll call this one monumental. My conversation with Marianne Williamson. I was overcome with emotion and awe, that I barely even welcome her to the show
Marianne Williamson talks with Elephant's Waylon Lewis of Walk the Talk Show about why she's running for President as a Democrat in 2024..! She's a best-selling author, political activist, spiritual thought-leader, and, yes, a presidential candidate. They debate, agree, discuss, all respectfully and with honesty and passion. “No amount of personal transformation will deal with the fact that the planet is becoming uninhabitable if we don't stop fossil fuel extraction. You can drink all the green juice in the world, but they're poisoning the water and the air and the food. You can do all these things and transform yourself. But the zeitgeist of this moment isn't just about yourself. A lot of higher consciousness work had circled around into a kind of atomized narcissistic ‘it's all about me, it's all about me.' The transformation of the planet isn't all about you. The transformation of the planet is about us.” ~ Marianne Williamson Read the full article on Elephant Journal. Marianne and Waylon have previously spoken on Walk the Talk Show in 2014. Find it on Elephant, here. Marianne Williamson is a bestselling author, political activist, and spiritual thought leader. I was so pleased to be able to sit down for a great conversation with Marianne Williamson. In addition to being a prolific author, and known to many for her work in spiritual thought, Marianne has been a progressive activist for decades. Contrary to the way she was portrayed by mainstream media when she ran for the same office in 2020, Marianne is a thoughtful, careful, and circumspect political thinker. You can find out more about her positions and policy approaches to many issues at www.Marianne2024.com.Her Bio:Marianne Williamson is a bestselling author, political activist, and spiritual thought leader. For over three decades, she has been a leader in spiritual and religiously progressive circles. What's the hype around the “food as medicine” concept? You'll want to listen in to find out. More often than not, this idea marries healthcare and nutrition in the form of medically-tailored meals and groceries or produce prescriptions. During this podcast, Alyssa Baldino, Associate Director of Nutrition Services at Project Angel Food, spills the beans on all the novel programs and policy coming out of this arena.
Marianne Williamson, a Democratic presidential candidate for the 2024 election, joins Andrew in the Ivory Tower Boiler Room. My very special guest today is the Chef & Owner of Jar Restaurant in LA, Suzanne Tracht! A driving force in the Los Angeles culinary scene, Suzanne Tracht has built JAR into one of the most beloved and successful restaurants in Los Angeles. Drawing inspiration from classic American comfort cuisine, JAR is a pilgrimage for passionate eaters and wine lovers from across the country. After Opening in 2001 with the help of her longtime Chef de Cuisine Preech Narkthong, Tracht's modern American chophouse continues to receive acclaim for its atmospheric setting and exceptional steaks, braises, and seasonal sides—including her sumptuous signature pot roast, which along with her char siu pork has been cited by culinary heavyweights on the Food Network's popular series The Best Thing I Ever Ate as worthy of the show's title. With its retro-modern décor, and evoking the aura of a timeless supper club, JAR has become an indelible part of the city's culture, even starring as a memorable location in the Academy Award-winning classic La La Land during a pivotal dramatic moment. Utilizing the finest local ingredients, Chef Tracht delights in taking classic chophouse dishes—deviled eggs, blue cheese wedge salad, and prime steaks—and updating them with a California sensibility. The season-driven menu offers appetizers and salads, with an emphasis on braises, grilled meats, and seafood, supplemented by an array of sides and traditional sauces. During the holidays, JAR's beloved Passover Seder and Thanksgiving dinners have earned ritual status among faithful patrons. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Tracht apprenticed under mentor Chef Siegbert Wendler at the historic Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa before relocating to Southern California to work in the kitchen of the prestigious Hotel Bel-Air. In 1992, she became chef de cuisine at Nancy Silverton and Mark Peel's famed Campanile, then embarked on her first solo venture as executive chef at the Cal-Asian restaurant Jozu, which ranked number two for “L.A.'s Best New Restaurants” in Los Angeles magazine. Soon after she branched out on her own with the steakhouse concept JAR, Food & Wine named her among its Best New Chefs. Praise for JAR over the years includes acclaim from the late Pulitzer Prize-winning Los Angeles Times and LA Weekly restaurant critic Jonathan Gold, who gave JAR a coveted spot on his “101 Best Restaurants in LA” list every year since its inception. He says “Tracht's gift lies in her ability to reproduce the old tastes within a modern context so that the sautéed pea tendrils with garlic make as much sense as the creamed spinach, the duck-fried rice as the mashed potatoes, and the char siu-style pork chop as the prime filet mignon.” Other accolades include Los Angeles Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Bon Appétit, Saveur, Food & Wine, Gourmet, Los Angeles Confidential, Angeleno, Haute Living, Elle, InStyle, Zagat, and Eater. Chef Tracht, whose many television appearances include Top Chef Masters, Hell's Kitchen, Today, Entertainment Tonight, and countless cooking shows, continually donates her time to charitable organizations and events. Her generosity of spirit has been recognized by some of the region's most prominent organizations, including SOVA (a community food and resources program of Jewish Family Service of LA), C-Cap (Careers Through Culinary Arts Program), LA Loves Alex's Lemonade, Project Angel Food, No Kid Hungry, and Cedars-Sinai Women's Heart Center. Suzanne has received peer recognition for her work, participated in Fortune magazine's Most Powerful Women Summit, and has cooked multiple times at the prestigious James Beard House. And she joins us again to talk about her Thanksgiving memories, menu, and wishes… www.thejar.com
