RUNDOWN   Was this the single greatest weekend in Seattle sports history? Mitch and Hotshot relive Friday night's 15-inning epic at T-Mobile Park as the Mariners advanced to the ALCS — Hotshot shares his in-stadium perspective, spilled beer and all, describing the crowd as “ear-splitting, like 1995 all over again.” Mitch calls Bryce Miller's Game 1 masterpiece in Toronto “legendary” and compares it to the Mariners' own must-win over Detroit. Then comes the forgotten hero of the weekend: Washington QB Damon Williams Jr., whose 538-yard, four-touchdown night went largely unseen while fans watched baseball on their phones. Add in the Seahawks' 20–12 win over Jacksonville (seven sacks despite missing key defenders), a Kraken overtime winner, and even Humpy the Salmon's long-awaited race victory — and Mitch declares it “the most joy-filled Seattle weekend in decades.” Mitch welcomes Joe Doyle (Over Slot) and Brady Farkas (Refuse to Lose Podcast) after Seattle's gritty 3–1 win to open the ALCS in Toronto — a game nobody expected them to take. The trio break down Bryce Miller's six-inning gem on three days' rest, the early escape that steadied him, and how his righty-righty splitter and held-velocity heater set the tone. They praise the bullpen trio of Spire, Brash, and Muñoz, the clutch base-running by Randy Arozarena, and Cal Raleigh's homer that flipped the energy of the entire series. Mitch is joined by Brady Henderson (ESPN.com) and Jacson Bevens (Cigar Thoughts) after the Seahawks' 20-12 road win over Jacksonville — a cross-country statement built on a revived pass rush and Sam Darnold's continued efficiency. The trio break down Byron Murphy's monster day (2 sacks, 7 pressures), a seven-sack team effort that could've reached double digits, and the coaching adjustments Mike McDonald made one week after the Tampa Bay meltdown. They highlight Darnold's nearly flawless 295-yard, 2-TD outing and debate whether he's already a top-tier QB in the NFC. CBS analyst Rick Neuheisel joins Mitch after witnessing Indiana's stunning 30–20 win over Oregon in Eugene — the Hoosiers' first-ever road win over a top-five team. Rick praises head coach Kurt Signetti for his “keep-it-inside” defensive discipline and authenticity, calling him “hotter than Texas chili” as Penn State's likely next target after James Franklin's firing. They discuss the money storm brewing in the Big Ten's upcoming $2.4 billion media deal, why booster influence now drives coaching turnover, and how NIL has reshaped the sport's economy. Rick breaks down SEC chaos after Auburn's controversial finish versus Georgia, the Texas rebound behind Steve Sarkisian, and why parity is spreading as defensive-line depth thins across power programs. Mitch “plants his spear” for Washington QB Damon Williams Jr., claiming him for Taco Time's Doing Some Work honors after a 538-yard night, while Rick awards his crispy burritos to Texas A&M's defense — 2-for-33 on third downs over three games.   GUESTS   Brady Farkas | Host, Refuse to Lose Podcast (Mariners on SI) Joe Doyle | MLB Draft & Mariners Analyst, Over-Slot Substack Brady Henderson | Seahawks Insider, ESPN Jacson Bevens | Writer, Cigar Thoughts Rick Neuheisel | CBS College Football Analyst, Former Head Coach & Rose Bowl Champion   TABLE OF CONTENTS   0:00 | Greatest Seattle Sports Weekend Ever? Hosts: Case Aiken and J. Mike Folson, with returning guest J.D. Martin. Initial Impressions and Reactions to Megamind (02:00 - 10:40) JD relates personal experience watching the movie during a back pain episode. He praises the voice cast: Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, and Brad Pitt. Characters, Casting, and Voice Performances (10:40 - 21:04) Discussion of the main characters and voice actors: Will Ferrell as Megamind praised for his comedic timing. Tina Fey as Roxanne Ritchi, the strong Lois Lane archetype. Music and Soundtrack (21:04 - 26:00) Soundtrack by Hans Zimmer and Lauren Balfe well received for blending classic superhero score with many rock needle drops. Noted needle drops include 'Highway to Hell,' 'Back in Black,' 'Crazy Train,' and 'Bad to the Bone.' Supporting Characters and Humor (26:00 - 31:27) Minion, Megamind's pet, is highlighted as a great comic sidekick balancing Krypto and Otis-type roles. The film's dense joke rate is praised in comparison to sitcom qualities. Plot and Story Structure Evaluation (31:27 - 41:28) Discussion appreciates that the Superman analog Metro Man faking his death and quitting is a strong story beat. Titan's rise and subsequent villainy highlighted as key to forcing Megamind into the hero role. ️ Final Narrative and Thematic Elements (41:28 - 51:29) The endgame where Megamind takes on the identity of the hero (Metro Man) using disguises is highlighted. Love story between Megamind and Roxanne praised as a slow burn and effective emotional core. Cultural and Industry Context (51:29 - 58:56) Megamind's release context: 2010, alongside Iron Man 2, Toy Story 3, and before MCU dominance. Positioned as a parody, deconstruction, and love letter to superhero genre before the MCU explosion. Closing Remarks and Tribute (58:56 - 01:07:01) Recognition of Patreon supporters and invitation to join. Tribute to actor Terence Stamp (General Zod in Superman films) who passed away on recording day. Key Takeaways Megamind is a well-crafted superhero parody (06:32 - 30:00) Inverts the traditional Superman archetype by showing a villain becoming a hero. Strong voice cast (10:40 - 18:00) Notable performances, especially Will Ferrell as Megamind and Tina Fey as Roxanne Ritchi. Jonah Hill's character adds a darker twist on typical sidekick tropes. Numerous classic rock needle drops (22:30 - 23:00) A hallmark of DreamWorks animated movies aimed at older kids and adults. ️ Fight sequences and choreography (26:58 - 27:30) Surprisingly well-executed and impactful, elevating the animated action to near live-action standards. Tight story structure (31:27 - 34:00) Well-paced with a high joke-per-minute ratio making it enjoyable for multiple viewings. ️ Megamind's character arc (41:28 - 51:29) From villain to hero effectively supported by strong thematic elements, including friendship, identity, and redemption. Movie fits well in the 2010 superhero context (51:29 - 58:56) Before the MCU boom, making it a timely and insightful satire and love letter to superhero media. Legacy and community engagement (58:56 - 01:07:01) Tribute to Terence Stamp and encouragement for listeners to join broader fandoms through podcasts and social media.

Interview with Brian Miller, Director & CEO of Astra ExplorationOur previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/astra-exploration-astr-gold-silver-project-drilling-commences-2262Recording date: 6th October 2025Astra Exploration has positioned itself as one of the more compelling junior exploration stories in the current precious metals bull market, combining proven high-grade mineralization, significant expansion potential, sophisticated backing, and immediate drilling catalysts at its La Manchuria gold-silver project in Argentina. The investment case rests on exceptional initial drill results that delivered 35 g/t gold with 8,300 g/t silver and over 200 g/t gold in separate intervals, all within 100 meters of surface. These results validated a reinterpreted geological model developed by head of exploration Diego Guido, who worked on the property 20 years earlier and recognized that previous operators had missed the high-grade feeder zones at depth by focusing exclusively on shallow bulk-tonnage potential. With over 20,000 meters of historical drilling providing a robust data foundation, Astra's technical team identified an opportunity that had been hiding in plain sight. The company's capital structure distinguishes it within the junior exploration space. Michael Gentile, a respected mining investor, holds approximately 17% after participating in multiple financing rounds since his initial $1 million investment in 2022. Together with management and a consortium of cornerstone investors, insiders control 75% of shares, leaving just 25% in public float. This concentration signals strong conviction from sophisticated investors who have conducted thorough due diligence, though it also creates liquidity constraints and potential for amplified volatility in both directions.Immediate catalysts emerge from the 10,000-meter dual-rig drill program launching in October 2025. One rig will systematically expand known mineralization along strike and at depth, where success should incrementally build confidence in the system's scale and continuity. The second rig will test previously unexplored regional targets, offering blue-sky discovery potential that CEO Brian Miller describes as "a game changer" capable of taking the company "to a whole new level." Initial results are expected by year-end 2025, with steady news flow through mid-2026 providing multiple re-rating opportunities.Management's capital efficiency discipline and shareholder alignment deserve emphasis. The team worked without pay for 13 months during the La Manchuria acquisition rather than dilute shareholders in a challenging market environment. This approach—prioritizing per-share value creation over aggressive growth—contrasts sharply with the capital-destructive behavior common among junior explorers and positions Astra to benefit as the exploration funding cycle develops. The macro backdrop appears increasingly favorable. Gold at record highs and silver approaching $50 per ounce generate substantial producer free cash flow that must eventually flow toward reserve replacement and exploration. While Miller acknowledges that this cycle "has been much slower to develop" than historical patterns, the direction of travel seems clear: cash-rich producers need quality exploration assets, and companies with proven teams, high-grade discoveries, and near-term catalysts should command premium valuations.Risks remain substantial. Exploration is inherently uncertain—even well-conceived programs can disappoint. The tight float could amplify downside volatility on negative news as readily as it might magnify gains on success. Commodity price corrections would impact both discovery value and strategic acquisition premiums. Investors should approach Astra as a high-conviction, high-volatility opportunity appropriate only for risk capital allocated to the exploration segment, with position sizing reflecting both the asymmetric upside potential and the meaningful probability of capital loss inherent in discovery-stage ventures.View Astra Exploration's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/astra-explorationSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Send us a textFive conversations. One weekend that proves short films can carry more than most features. We sat down at the Gig Harbor Film Festival with filmmakers who turned everyday pressure into unforgettable cinema—starting with a travel-phobe who literally becomes a shoe. That hybrid live action-animation pivot wasn't a gimmick; it was a smart, budget-aware way to visualize dissociation, sharpened by a one-man animation army and razor-sharp improv that had audiences grinning at micro-expressions and airline absurdity. We then move into a quiet chill that lingers: a brother and sister return home in The Graves, where delayed grief sneaks up like a reflection you'd rather not catch. Built from a deeply personal experience, the film embraces constraint as design—an Airbnb with character, a ghost born from a flashlight test, and sound that makes broad daylight feel haunted. The lesson travels beyond festivals: think audience-first, from thumbnails to retention, because distribution is a creative choice.Around a campfire, I Hope You're Happy maps the stages of grief onto friendship under the shadow of the opioid crisis. Tight writing, Zoom rehearsals, and a score woven from a diegetic ukulele tune create an “earned silence” when credits roll—proof that intimacy and careful sound can carry weight in minutes. Float and Fly lifts that intimacy into the sky with community-fueled aviation: first-time actors, wing-mounted cameras, and Gig Harbor vistas that remind you how place can become subtext for healing and courage. Finally, An Old Friend delivers a cathartic twist: an imaginary friend assigned to a man at the end of his life. The crew let improvisation breathe, then sculpted time in the edit with sound design that thins the world to breath and memory. With a shelf of festival awards and an Oscar-qualification push underway, the team shares the unglamorous truth—DCPs, captions, qualifying runs, and the real costs behind a campaign—while still savoring packed rooms and new colleagues made along the way.If you love craft talk, practical hacks, and stories that punch above their runtime, press play. Subscribe, share this with a filmmaker friend, and leave a review with the short you'd expand into a feature—we'll read our favorites on the show.Support the show

On Healthy Waves, host Avik Chakraborty sits down with Dr. Braxton Nguyen, chiropractor and clinic owner of Access Health Centers (Portland & Beaverton), to break down why posture isn't cosmetic—it's structural and neurological. We cover the most common desk mistakes, simple daily corrections, how core strength and ergonomics protect your spine, and why “structure affects function” (breath, energy, cognition). Dr. Nguyen shares his sports-injury origin story, the risks of masking pain with meds, and evidence-based ways to correct alignment before degeneration sets in. Tight, actionable, and designed to help you feel and perform better—at work and in life. About the guest  : Dr. Braxton Nguyen is a chiropractor and Chiropractic BioPhysics® practitioner, founder of Access Health Centers in Portland and Beaverton. After a major knee injury in high school led to chronic pain, he pursued spine-focused, evidence-based care to correct structure, restore function, and help patients avoid unnecessary surgeries. Key takeaways:   Structure drives function. Posture isn't just looks—spinal alignment influences the nervous system, breathing capacity, energy, and mental focus. The silent culprit at desks: Slouching pulls the head forward, rounds shoulders, and collapses the low back—cascading stress from neck to lumbar spine. Ergonomics that actually work: Feet flat, back supported, screen at eye level, elbows near 90°, and a small lumbar support to keep the natural curve. Move every 30 minutes. Micro-breaks and posture resets prevent repetitive-strain accumulation (alternate sit/stand if possible). Train the core daily. Neutral pelvis, lower-ab activation, and gentle desk drills stabilize alignment without special gear. Mind–body cues: Use an “invisible string” visual—lift crown, stack ears over shoulders, shoulders over hips—to re-educate posture on the fly. Breath = posture. Opening the ribcage improves oxygenation and clarity; rounded posture restricts lung expansion. It's rarely “too late.” Early evaluation can halt/slow degeneration; structural corrective care (including imaging) personalizes rehab paths. Recovery story: A sports injury, persistent pain, and concern about reliance on opioids pushed Dr. Nguyen toward structural, root-cause solutions. Build with purpose. For health pros and founders: lead with mission and patient outcomes—people feel authenticity and follow through. This podcast episode by Alevtina Solovyeva traces Central Asia as the enduring crossroads “between empires,” where caravan routes outlast the borders drawn over them. It opens with the Silk Roads: trade as the region's original superpower – moving goods, ideas, and identities. The narrative then tracks how Qing–Russian rivalry and the 19th century “Great Game” layered governors, railways, and taxes onto steppe and peoples, then the Soviet period engineered republics, industries, and pipelines while China watched, split, and later recalibrated. Independence for the five Central Asian states after 1991 reset the board: Russia remained the familiar security habit; China re-entered with capital and corridors, culminating in the Belt and Road. Multi-vector tendencies took hold as Turkey, Iran, Japan, Korea, the U.S., and the EU pressed in. The 2022, start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, accelerated internal and external processes concerning Central Asia as a strategic area, as well as a Russia-China partner-rivalry across energy, transport, finance, and soft power. Four platforms – SCO, EAEU, BRICS, and BRI – showcase both cooperation and competition, with BRI as the physical layer that forces choices on routes, rules, and control. Looking to 2025-2030, three stress tests loom: the terms of Power of Siberia-2, corridor races (CKU vs. Kazakh/Middle Corridor routes), and “security creep.” Central Asia has become a focal arena for international actors amid deep shifts in power balances and rules. It is a fast-moving environment with open-ended trajectories, multiple internal and external agents and situational theatres where interests intersect. Farm margins are tight and the headlines aren't lying—tariffs, fertilizer and machinery costs, and labor constraints are hitting producers. Jackson Takach (Farmer Mac) breaks down what's signal vs. noise. What we cover: Tariffs 101: Section 301 (unfair trade), 232 (national security), and IEEPA actions (the biggest bucket and under legal challenge). Why these hit steel/aluminum and fertilizer components—and how that flows to implement and input prices. Costs that pay back vs. pure drag: seed tech and risk-reduction can be worth it; fertilizer, machinery and labor are harder to offset—2026 looks tighter than 2025. Adaptation that actually helps: proven tech + regenerative practices to reduce input reliance. Bankruptcies: Chapter 12 filings are up in Arkansas and Nebraska—rising from 2023–24 lows back toward 2018–20 levels. Regional stress drivers: soy/rice/cotton marketing pain and flooding in AR; feedlot squeeze and weaker soy export pull in NE. Policy + relief: ongoing US–China trade talks; ~$15–20B of prior-year USDA aid still to deploy; Farm Bill politics and PLC “facelift” dynamics. Opportunities: growing global protein demand, renewable diesel/SAF, and more U.S. soybean crush capacity. Labor & immigration: H‑2A works for seasonal crops; year‑round gaps push automation. AI's real role: better data sense‑making and lending workflows—not replacing credit decisions. Land values: Midwest stabilizing/slipping, Southeast firming, West = water‑dependent.
