In this episode, Logan and guest co-host Vanessa Loney sit down with Brittany Carroll, Manager of Event Operations at the Library of Congress and former U.S. diplomat, to pull back the curtain on what it really takes to produce events at the highest levels of government. Brittany shares what most event professionals never see: the layers of protocol, the complexity of managing global delegations, and what it takes to source vendors and navigate relationships in countries where the rules and expectations are completely different. If you've ever been curious about government and public sector events, this one will open your eyes.SHOW NOTES:Purchase our on-demand How to Start an Event Planning Business Workshop: https://bettereventspod.com/workshopConnect with guest co-host Vanessa on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/vanessaloney/Connect with Brittany Carroll:LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/brittany-a-carrollWebsite: www.arkandsol.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/brittanyacarroll/Substack: https://substack.com/@lifebeelifinSAM Vendor Database: https://usfcr.com/register-renew/?utm_medium=ppc&utm_term=sam.gov&utm_campaign=SAM&utm_source=adwords&hsa_tgt=kwd-303711204891&hsa_ad=737504210564&hsa_src=g&hsa_mt=b&hsa_ver=3&hsa_cam=122161541&hsa_acc=1449812725&hsa_kw=sam.gov&hsa_grp=5341822301&hsa_net=adwords&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=122161541&gbraid=0AAAAADx-gxsUSU4bel_oTKZe1l74oD5NF&gclid=CjwKCAjw857RBhAgEiwAI-1yKMJwA6sOO3Y5hvJLsnVZFGkeFG2ndoNilWOQBMLoa8rO8gVKwmB_oBoCnNgQAvD_BwEUS Protocol references: https://www.state.gov/protocol-referenceLearn more about the pod, Better Events Conference and more: https://bettereventspod.com/the-latestWant our updated free run of show template? Step behind the curtains of the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) in this compelling episode of the Legal Nurse Podcast. Host Pat Iyer sits down with Paul Sayeg, a seasoned registered nurse, legal nurse consultant, and expert witness, to explore the hidden world of PACU nursing, a fast-paced, detail-intensive environment where patients emerge from anesthesia at their most vulnerable. With over two decades of clinical experience, Paul shares his insights on patient monitoring, the critical role of the Aldrete and modified Aldrete scores, and the unique challenges facing nurses in this high-stakes setting. Together, they dig into the standardized tools and clinical judgment required for safe patient recovery in various settings, from hospitals to same-day surgery centers. Real-world cases and stories illustrate the life-and-death importance of nurse vigilance, thorough documentation, and seamless teamwork. The discussion also peels back the layers of system-level pressures such as "factory line healthcare," that can contribute to liability risks and medical errors. Listeners will gain a valuable perspective on how a healthy PACU culture supports early intervention and patient safety, and how expert witnesses piece together complex cases using standards published by the American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN). Whether you're a legal nurse consultant, healthcare professional, or simply curious about what happens after surgery, this episode delivers a candid look at the science, systems, and human factors behind successful post-anesthesia care. What You'll Learn in This Episode on Behind the Curtain: PACU Nursing, Complications, and Legal Risks Here are 5 discussion questions answered in the podcast: What are the different settings in which post-anesthesia care is delivered, and how do patient acuity and procedure type influence these settings? How does the Aldrete score assist nurses in post-anesthesia care, and what are its key assessment areas? In what ways can documentation errors, such as missing vital signs, impact the accuracy of the Aldrete score and patient safety? What is the significance of the modified Aldrete score, and how has it evolved to better reflect current anesthesia practices? How do standards of care published by organizations like ASPAN influence clinical practice and legal nurse consulting? Get the free transcripts and also learn about other ways to subscribe. On Friday's Mark Levin Show, there is grave concerns over the ongoing war with the Islamist Nazi enemy regime in Iran, which is making increasing demands including billions in aid that should not be provided in any form, as it would only rebuild their terrorist apparatus rather than help the people. The prolonged ceasefire is a mistake after an initially successful campaign. We should have 2 weeks of massive strikes on IRGC targets and arm the Iranian people. Also, the Lebanese president, Joseph Aoun, noted that Lebanon's official government and army are separate from the far more powerful Hezbollah, effectively creating two parallel governments and militaries. Now, amid Hezbollah's ongoing rocket fire (including during a ceasefire), Israel has re-entered to eliminate the threat permanently, focusing on Hezbollah's main base near Beirut. Aoun instructed defensive fighting only, avoiding Beirut. Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed Israel's sovereignty in protecting itself, rejecting any constraints. Later, Rep Byron Donalds calls in and reveals a direct death threat posted on social media, where someone stated they were going to kill him. While politics involves strong opinions, demonizing opponents as non-human erodes civility and can incite violence. The incident strengthened Donalds' resolve to pursue Florida's governorship and preserve the state as a conservative leader. Finally, former VP Mike Pence calls in to discuss his new book – What Conservatives Believe: Rediscovering the Conservative Conscience. Pence emphasizes that the Declaration of Independence's assertion that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness forms the core conservative principle that rights come from God, underpinning limited government. Pence notes the First Amendment guarantees freedom of religion, not from it, allowing belief according to conscience. https://www.amazon.com/What-Conservatives-Believe-Rediscovering-Conservative/dp/1546011633/ref=sr_1_1?crid Learn more about your ad choices. Before Kansas had fully shaken the dust of the frontier from its boots, a small homestead in Labette County became a house of horrors. In the early 1870s, travelers moving along the Osage Trail stopped at the Bender family's roadside inn for a meal, a bed, or a glimpse of Kate Bender—the self-proclaimed healer and spiritualist who promised supernatural insight to the desperate and curious. But behind the canvas curtain inside that one-room cabin, something far darker waited. Known to history as the Bloody Benders, the family—John Bender Sr., Elvira “Ma” Bender, John Jr., and Kate—were accused of luring travelers into their home, attacking them from behind, robbing them, and burying their bodies on the property. When Dr. William York disappeared in 1873 while searching for missing settlers, his brother, Colonel Alexander York, helped lead the investigation that finally exposed the Bender homestead. What searchers found beneath the Kansas soil turned a frontier rumor into a national nightmare. At least eight bodies were reportedly discovered, with some estimates suggesting the Benders may have killed a dozen or more. But before justice could find them, the entire family disappeared. Were they lynched? Did they escape? Did Kate Bender reinvent herself somewhere far from Kansas? More than 150 years later, the Bloody Benders remain part true crime, part prairie ghost story, and part warning: sometimes the most dangerous place on the frontier was the one with a light in the window. In this episode of Hitched 2 Homicide, we're digging into the legend, the facts, the bodies in the orchard, and the mystery of what really happened to America's most infamous serial killer family. In this episode, Minter Dial welcomes renowned opera director and scenic visionary Julia Burbach for an illuminating exploration into the artistry, psychology, and leadership behind the world's grandest stages. With an international upbringing and an academic background straddling history, law, and diplomacy, Julia has forged a distinct path in opera—blending creative storytelling with the demands of team-building, risk-taking, and finely-tuned human management. Julia Burbach sheds light on the curious duality her role demands: balancing her personal, often private, creative instincts with the high-wire act of corralling diverse, multinational teams towards a coherent vision. The conversation gets under the skin of the creative process, revealing how self-confidence, intuition, and strategic risk all play vital roles in bringing complex productions to life. She opens up about her family's artistic heritage, the incremental nature of building confidence as a woman in a traditionally male world, and the invisible strategies behind navigating egos on and off the stage. The dialogue also delves into broader questions facing the operatic world: from the practicalities of working with singers (who are cast before directors even join projects), to the challenges of accessibility and relevance in an era of mounting political and financial pressures. Julia shares her belief in the healing power of beauty and the timeless draw of communal artistic experience, all while offering candid insights on diplomacy, team selection, and what it takes to sustain emotional realism in the heart of fiction. Whether you are a business leader searching for lessons on human management, a creative wrestling with risk and intuition, or simply curious about how opera adapts for survival in turbulent times, this episode offers rare perspectives from behind the curtain. Join Minter Dial as he ventures into the messy, exhilarating, and deeply personal world of opera with Julia, whose career stands testament to the enduring value of collective endeavour and artistic courage.

The Serpent's Strait Ch. 10Let's set the scene, shall we? The group finalizes its plans for Operation Boom Stick. Chan, Thorak, and Valen are all laying out the trap for their "friend", but first they need to acquire a large amount of andrite. Ursus, Bob, and Dona have a different objective... using Bob's Mask of Many Faces and some bardic charm, he makes a spectacle of himself as the "true voice of Hastur." Before they leave, the Journeyman gives them some gifts for the road, one in particular was a tuning fork of disruption, a prototype that Chan holds on to. Thorak, disguised as Snorak, makes his way to a warehouse that stores andrite, serving as a distraction for Chan and Valen to sneak in and grab the andrite without anyone the wiser. If only it were that simple. With some jerry-rigged reverse lock picking, polymorphing, the tuning fork, and some giant's might, the team might manage to pull it off, albeit not nearly as smoothly as they'd hope to be.In the town, Bob is putting on a grand show of being the "voice of Hastur" with an unwilling Ursus in tow and given the most unflattering of names. They are certainly getting a lot of attention and are sure that the priest in town has caught wind of this imposter. Dona, who keeps watch as a lookout, slips away after and catches the tail end of "mass". Slipping into the shadows, she hears a language she doesn't recognize and continues deeper to get a better look at what's going on, only to see the priest kneeling and speaking in hushed tones. The team reconvenes at a bar and catches each other up on what transpired. Dona recalls what the priest said, despite not understanding the language, and Ursus confirms that it is Abyssal. It reveals a conversation between the priest and someone up north, warning about the group causing trouble. With that, final plans are made, and the pieces are set. We finish as the group notices a few onlookers glaring at the party, their faces tense. Ursus shouts, "WHO WANTS A ROUND OF DRINKS ON ME?!" This cuts some of the tension short of a handful of patrons who are still visibly glaring. Valen makes his way "drunkenly" towards them, using Bob's singing as a distraction to exploit Mindsplinter's ability to detect thoughts. The spell tells Valen that they were given orders to take the party out. There's so much happening, and that's where we pick up…Find out what happens next in this episode of the Medusa's Cascade: Blood & Booze!Theme Music is written and performed by EfflorescenceTitle Card by Pierce Graphics Mixed by Thomas Lapierre IIICheck out the show at themedusascascade.com Hosted on Acast. As well as its origins and afterlives, they consider the many systems that the novel draws on, challenges, reproduces and mutates – the laws of nature, philosophy, science, the human body, the traditional family – and ask whether the real horror at the heart of Frankenstein is not the creature so much as incest. The Man Behind the Curtain is a bonus Close Readings series running this year. The next episode will be on ‘Middlemarch', released in a couple of months. This is an extract from the episode. Join Gary and Jamie as they pull back the curtain on what really happens during a remodel. They focus on trust and transparency—what's going on behind the scenes that homeowners don't always see. From scheduling and trade coordination to those quiet periods when no visible work is happening, they explain why it occurs and how consistent, clear communication keeps homeowners informed and confident throughout the entire process.

How does the world's largest pet care ecosystem actually work? In this episode of Petworking, I sit down with Dr. Jimmy Barr, Chief Medical Officer of Antech Diagnostics, for a behind-the-curtain look at how Mars Petcare's four divisions connect to drive innovation in veterinary medicine. Most people hear "Mars" and think M&Ms. They don't think of Pedigree, Royal Canin, Champion Pet Foods, Banfield, VCA, Blue Pearl, Wisdom Panel, and one of the most ambitious longitudinal pet health studies ever attempted. Dr. Barr walks us through all of it.In this episode, we explore:How the Waltham Pet Care Science Institute serves as Mars's greenfield discovery engine, recently identifying 89 previously unknown bacterial species in the canine GI tractHow Antech is deploying AI across two tracks: improving commercial products like Rapid Read (trained on 16 million radiographs) and accelerating scientific discoveryThe Mars Pet Care Biobank, a long-term study enrolling 10,000 pets with annual lab work, genetic sequencing, quality-of-life questionnaires, and biological sample storage for future testing methodologies that don't even exist yetWhy Dr. Barr, an emergency and critical care specialist, believes the biggest opportunity in veterinary medicine is prevention and early detection, not acute careThe role of lab technicians and logistics teams in maintaining the integrity of every diagnostic result, and why Lab Week mattersThis episode is a continuation of my earlier conversation with Dr. Phillip Bosse at WVC about Antech's measured approach to AI in veterinary diagnostics.Follow Peter Kenseth on LinkedIn for more conversations at the intersection of pet care, animal health, and innovation.Subscribe to the Petworking newsletter on LinkedIn to be notified of new episodes, and see accompanying episode articles.
Mary welcomes back Pastor David Bowen of Interpreting the Times to discuss the rising tide of evil in our world. As much as we think we are informed about many different things, we often fail to connect them in these last days as one continual flow of history and events. And we can never overstate the connective tissue of evil, as the kingdoms of this world give way to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. Not only will there be turbulence, but evil – and evil men – will wax worse and worse. Are things more evil than we ever imagined they could be? And equally important, are we underestimating just HOW evil? The enemy of our souls is working overtime with plenty of help from the humans who have come out from the shadows and let us know their intent. We talk about the various ways evil manifests and this culture of death. How can we up our rescue mission in the world? Always an enlightening hour with David. https://www.interpretingthetimes.com/discernment https://www.interpretingthetimes.com/sot7 Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A

In this consequential episode of John Solomon Reports, we dive deep into the explosive revelations surrounding the Ukraine impeachment saga that have been years in the making. John Solomon discusses a groundbreaking story that has captured the attention of lawmakers and intelligence officials alike, including CIA Director John Ratcliffe and former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard. He uncovers the long-hidden biases of the whistleblower whose allegations against President Trump sparked a contentious impeachment process, revealing that this individual had direct ties to Joe Biden and a vested interest in the outcome of the Ukraine policy. As the episode unfolds, Solomon outlines the implications of these revelations, including potential avenues for President Trump to challenge the legitimacy of his impeachment. With insights from investigative reporter Jerry Dunleavy, listeners will gain a clearer understanding of the information that was withheld from Congress during the impeachment proceedings and why it matters now more than ever.In the second segment, former National Security Council Chief of Staff Fred Fleitz shares his outrage over the revelations and discusses the broader implications for national security and intelligence oversight. The conversation also touches on the recent developments regarding Iran and the strategic naval blockade, as well as the interconnectedness of global politics in a rapidly changing landscape. Finally, we hear from Georgia State Senator Greg Dolezal, who sheds light on a potential investigation into the Fulton County DA's office and its ties to the Biden Justice Department, raising serious questions about the integrity of the legal processes at play. When Dorthy looked behind the curtain in the Emerald City, the god-like face and voice ruling the city was revealed to be a fat little insecure man. This war in Iran is no different. Wars become a force in peoples minds that is equal to God. The illusion is that wars are of men, leveraging fear and threat to lead a mass of sheep into the sorting pens and eventually to slaughter.
