"Being offended can be a pathway to love." In this episode, Papa Joe Bradford shares how to grow our capacity to love according to 1 Corinthians 13, a passage often recited but not easily lived-out in our daily relationships. He shares how his experience in prison taught him that he is not big enough to fail God. From that moment forward, he has been on a journey of humility. Papa Joe addresses common scenarios people face, how love can help us overcome temptations, and how to lean into the power to say no to evil and avoid being offended. He talks about when one is offended, how to move through that situation with maturity. Becoming great at love is an area where every single one of us has room to grow. From ministry leaders to parents to those dealing with conflict at work, this episode is for you. Joe Bradford is a man who knows what it's like to grow up neglected, find oneself in prison, and question God's love. From enduring poverty and parental abandonment as a child, to working to earn a college scholarship, to spending 18 months in federal prison for computer hacking (where he decided to turn his life around), to launching a beautiful ministry with his wife - Papa Joe's personal story is one of inspiration and unconditional love. He is a dad to eight kids of his own, and the inspiration for the major motion picture Unconditional. He is called “Papa” by countless numbers of children who he and his wife, Denise, have cared for through their ministry, Elijah's Heart, founded in 2005. Joe Bradford has recently authored a new book, titled Love or War? Choose Love: Strategies that Overcome Daily Life Struggles. In today's episode I had the privilege to interview Papa Joe Bradford, he was the inspiration behind the movie unconditional (Which I highly recommend watching) and he runs a non-profit, he's the CEO and founder of a non-profit organization called Elijahsheart.com. In this interview we discuss his how computer hacking got him in trouble, big trouble, it landed him in prison. After prison things changed though, he met an amazing woman and became an extremely positive and inspirational role model in his community doing charitable work and working with children. This guy is a true inspiration to me and it was an honor to speak with him, I highly recommend watching the movie and allowing it to inspire you as well. Enjoy the chat!
