In this interview Jimmy and Alex Jones discuss the assassination of Charlie Kirk, with Jones explaining why he's skeptical of certain theories about who killed Charlie pushed by Candace Owens—specifically the claims about Egyptian planes and Mitch Snow—while still firmly believing there is some sort of coverup about up the murder going on.  Jones clarifies he's not "compromised" by his billion-dollar Sandy Hook judgment, is still fighting in court, and simply refuses to endorse what he considers provably false information that discredits legitimate investigation.  In the face of all the inconsistencies and dubious explanations surrounding the dominant narrative, Jones acknowledges that Israel's threats against Charlie and his outspoken opposition to the Iran war make Israel a plausible suspect, but insists on following verifiable evidence rather than getting lost in rabbit holes. The conversation highlights the tension between Jones' history of skepticism toward government explanations and his current unwillingness to entertain ideas other podcasters have floated. Plus segments on Kanye West's accurate accusations against Jared Kushner and Iranian leaders dunking on Pete Hegseth.  Also featuring Kurt Metzger, Stef Zamorano and Mike MacRae. And a phone call from Al Pacino!

    3. The final segment shifts to the history of political assassination, specifically the rivalry between Stalin and Trotsky. Stalin utilized state power and paranoia to exile and eventually murder Trotsky in Mexico with an ice pick, yet Trotsky remained a romantic icon for the Western left. Gaius and Germanicus apply this lesson to the 21st century, arguing that the attempted "decapitation" of Iranian leadershiphas backfired. Instead of ending the regime, the strike has renewed the Islamic Republic's "lease on life,"much like the Nazi invasion inadvertently strengthened the Soviet Union. The debate concludes as the hosts prepare to watch Aeschylus's play, *The Persians*, which depicts the defeat of Xerxes. They reflect on the "tragic irony" of the current war: the US sought to eliminate a threat but instead unified its enemies and wrecked the global economy through $120 oil. (3)1945 YALTA

Episode 320 is the fourth  in a mini-series covering Sylvia Duran in Mexico. And what a tale it is. You heard much about Sylvia Duran already in the early Mexico City episodes. We pick the story back up  just as the JFK assassination takes place on November 22nd, 1963 and events almost simultaneously begin to unfold and  overtake her. The  harrowing story of Sylvia Duran, a 26-year-old Mexican consular secretary at the Cuban Consulate in Mexico City is one of the most confounding in  the  JFK's assassination story.  Amidst the chaos following President Kennedy's assassination on November 22, 1963, Duran's  name surfaces in Lee Harvey Oswald's address book, linking her to his September visit where he sought a visa to Cuba. Duran, a socialist sympathizer but not a communist, was under intense CIA surveillance through wiretaps and cameras, and was viewed as a potential future asset due to her past affair with a Cuban diplomat. The CIA's Mexico City station chief, Winston Scott, bypasses protocol and uses his covert LITEMPO network—high-level Mexican officials on CIA payroll—to order Duran's arrest via the brutal DFS secret police. On November 23, agents raid a family gathering, detaining Duran and her relatives in a terrifying show of force. This rogue action alarms CIA headquarters, who fear it could expose illegal operations or disrupt U.S. strategies regarding Cuban involvement in the assassination, potentially sparking nuclear tensions.Under interrogation by DFS deputy director Fernando Gutiérrez Barrios, Duran endures physical torture, including arm-squeezing and beatings, while her family suffers nearby. Coerced into false admissions of a sexual affair with Oswald, she later recants, revealing the ordeal's brutality. The episode uncovers how U.S. intelligence manipulated Mexican authorities to control the narrative, setting the stage for further revelations in upcoming installments.

IN THIS EPISODE~ Rob Clark (“The Lone Gunman Podcast”) and Doug Campbell (“The Dallas Action” JFK Assassination  Research & Study Podcast, Presented By Wall Street Window) are BACK in Episode #71 with another marathon slate of JFK Assassination research, document study, and historical news and notes for March! As sometimes happens, there is a synchronistic nature to the material prepared separately by the hosts, which is only noted once the guys come together. The common denominator this time?David Ferrie.    Among the topics discussed: Ferrie, Guy Banister, and the New Orleans angle/connections to Lee Oswald and the Kennedy Case; An (somewhat) historic interview with David Ferrie, just a few months prior to his death; Very rare audio of the man Guy Banister pistol-whipped on the night of Kennedy's death, Jack (“Edward Suggs”) Martin; Was Lee Oswald– in reality– PRO or ANTI-Castro? Given that he seems to have spent considerable time with members of both factions, what do his actions ultimately reveal?; If the April 1963 flight plan filed by Ferrie from NOLA to Texas– that lists a passenger named “Hidell”-- is authentic and indicates the presence of Lee Oswald, then what was the purpose of the trip?; Three different– and differing– documented accounts of the Banister/Martin pistol-whipping, Lee Oswald may have dropped a dime on Ferrie prior to 11/22/63, and how much did Banister's secretary Delphine Roberts know? Really?   PLUS, Doug gives a sneak preview of the next episode of “The Dallas Action”, we answer listener emails, the Military-Industrial Complex robs Rob, and Momo continues to be the absolute most impatient audio engineer anywhere on Music Row, bar none.  Written and Hosted by Rob Clark and Doug Campbell.  Recorded and Engineered by Momo Scaranucci, Jr. for Drop-D Podcast Productions.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/quick-hits-the-jfk-assassination--3682240/support.

This week we talk about Khamenei, Trump, and Netanyahu. We also discuss Venezuela, Cuba, and cartels.Recommended Book: Plagues upon the Earth by Kyle HarperTranscriptAli Hosseini Khamenei was an opposition politician in the lead-up to the Iranian Revolution that, in 1979, resulted in the overthrow of the Shah—the country's generally Western government-approved royal leader—and installed the Islamic Republic, an extremely conservative Shia government that took the reins of Iran following the Shah's toppling.Khamenei was Iran's third president, post-Shah, and he was president during the Iran-Iraq War from 1981-1989, during which the Supreme Leader of Iran, the head of the country, Ruhollah Khomeini sought the overthrow of then Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. Khomeini died the same year the war ended, 1989, and Khamenei was elected to the role of Supreme Leader by the country's Assembly of Experts, which is responsible for determining such roles. The new Supreme Leader Khamenei was reportedly initially concerned that he wasn't suitable for the role, as his predecessor was a Grand Ayatollah of the faith, while he was just a mid-rank cleric, but the constitution of Iran was amended so that higher religious office was no longer required in a Supreme Leader, and in short order Khamenei moved to expound upon Iran's non-military nuclear program, to expand the use and reach of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in-country and throughout the region, and he doubled-down on supporting regional proxies like Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and Hamas in Gaza, incorporating them into the so-called Axis of Resistance that stands against Western interests in the region—the specifics of which have varied over the decades, but which currently includes the aforementioned Hezbollah and Houthis, alongside smaller groups in neighboring countries, like Shiite militias in Bahrain, and forces that operate in other regional spheres of influence, like North Korea, Venezuela, and at times, portions of the Syrian government.Khamenei also reinforced the Iranian government's power over pretty much every aspect of state function, disempowering political opponents, cracking down on anyone who doesn't toe a very conservative extremist line—women showing their hair in public, for instance, have been black-bagged and sometimes killed while in custody—and thoroughly entangled the functions of state with the Iranian military, consolidating essentially all power under his office, Supreme Leader, while violently cracking down on anyone who opposed his doing whatever he pleased, as was the case with a wave of late-2025, early 2026 protests across the country, during which Iranian government forces massacred civilians, killing somewhere between 3,000 and 35,000 people, depending on whose numbers you believe. What I'd like to talk about today is a new war with Iran, kicked off by attacks on the country from Israel and the United States that led with the killing of Khamenei and a bunch of his higher-up officers, how this conflict is spreading across the region and concerns about that spreading, and what might happen next.—On February 28, 2026, the US and Israel launched a wave of joint air attacks against Iran, hitting mostly military and government sites across the country. One of the targets was Khamenei's compound, and his presence there, above-ground, which was unusual for him, as he spent most of his time deep underground in difficult-to-hit bunkers, alongside a bunch of government and military higher-ups, may have been the rationale for launching all of these attacks on that day, as the attackers were able to kill him and five other top-level Iranian leaders, who he was meeting with, at the same time. This wave of attacks followed the largest military buildup of US forces in the Middle East since the invasion of Iraq back in 2003, and while military and government targets were prioritized, that initial wave also demolished a lot of civilian structures, including schools, hospitals, and the Grand Bazaar in Tehran, leading to a whole lot of civilian casualties and fatalities, as well.In response, Iran launched hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones at Israel, and at US bases throughout the region—these bases located in otherwise uninvolved countries, including Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. Iranian missiles and drones also hit non-military targets, and in some cases maybe accidentally hit civilian infrastructure, in Azerbaijan, and Oman, alongside a British military base on the island of Cyprus. The Iranian president apologized in early March for his country's lashing out at pretty much everyone, saying that there were miscommunications within the Iranian military, and that Iran wouldn't hit anyone else, including countries with US bases, so long as US attacks didn't originate from those bases.Despite that apology, though, Iranian missiles and drones continued to land in many of those neighboring countries following his remarks, raising questions about communications and control within the now-decapitated Iranian military. This new conflict follows long-simmering tensions between Iran and Israel—the former of which has said it will someday wipe the latter from the face of the Earth, considering its existence an abomination—and long-simmering tensions related to Iran's nuclear program, which the government has continuously said is just for civilian, energy purposes, but which pretty much everyone suspects, with a fair bit of evidence, is, in parallel, also a weapons program.Iran's influence throughout the region has been truncated in recent years, due to a sequence of successes by the Israeli military and intelligence services, which allowed them to hobble or nearly wipe out traditional Iranian proxy forces like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, which have collectively surrounded and menaced Israel for decades. Those menacing forces more or less handled, Israel has become more aggressive in its confrontations with Iran, exchanging large air attacks several times over the past handful of years, and the US under Trump's second term continues to see Iran as the main opposition to their efforts to build a US-aligned counterbalance against Russian and Chinese influence in the Middle East, with Israel, Saudi Arabia, and increasingly entities like Qatar and the UAE playing ball with the West, while Iran and its allies stand firm against the West.Trump has regularly threatened to act in Iran, usually waiting for the Iranian government to do something really bad, like that recent massacre of civilians following those large anti-government protests in late-2025, early 2026, and that to some degree has served as justification for the massing of US military assets in the region, leading up to this attack. Now that the attack has launched, a new war triggered, the question is how big it will get and how long it will last. For the moment, it looks like Iran's government and military is very much on the back foot, a lot of their assets taken out in that initial wave, and they're still scrambling to put someone in charge to replace Khamenei and those other higher-ups who were assassinated at the outset of this war—that'll likely change soon, maybe even before this episode goes live. But whomever takes the reins will have quite the task ahead of them, probably—according to many analysts, at least—aiming to just hold out until the US runs out of ammunition, which is expected to happen within a week or so, at which point Iran can launch surgical attacks, aiming to make this war too expensive, in terms of money and US lives, for the Trump administration to continue investing in, as money and lives are especially expensive in an election year, which 2026 is. So the idea is to grind the US down until it makes more political sense for Trump to just declare victory and leave, rather than allowing this to become a Vietnam or Afghanistan situation for his administration. It's also generally expected that when the US pulls out, Israel probably will too, as they've already made their point, tallied a bunch of victories, and set Iran back in a lot of ways; they could walk away whenever they like and say they won. And Iran would probably be incentivized to, at that point, avoid doing anything that would lead to more punishment, though they would almost certainly immediately begin rebuilding the same exact centralized, militarized infrastructure that was damaged, the only difference being they would have someone else on top, as the Supreme Leader. Relations could be even worse moving forward, but it would probably be at least a few years before Iran could do anything too significant to their regional enemies, which I guess if you're Israel does, in fact, represent a win.But considering the unlikelihood of permanent change in Iran, the big question here, in the minds of many, is what this war, this attack, is even for.For Israel, the main purpose of any attack against Iran is to weaken or destroy an enemy that has made no secret about wanting to weaken and destroy them. For the US, though, and the Trump administration more specifically, the point of all this isn't as clear. Some contend that this is another effort to steal attention and headlines from the increasingly horrifying revelations coming out of the investigation into the Epstein files, which seem to indicate Trump himself was involved in all sorts of horrible, pedophilic sexual assault activities with the late human-trafficker.Some suspect that the apparent victory in grabbing former Venezuelan president Maduro from his own country and whisking him away to the US without suffering any US casualties has emboldened Trump, and that he's going to use the time he's got to take out anyone he doesn't like, and may even specifically target authoritarian leaders who will not be missed—who oppress and kill their own people—because then it's difficult for his political opponents to call him out on these efforts. Most Venezuelans are happy to see Maduro gone, and many Iranians celebrated when Khamenei was assassinated. Trump has publicly stated that he intends to go after Cuba, next, and continues to suggest he wants a war of sorts with Mexican and south and central American cartels, which follows this same pattern of demonstrating a muscular, aggressive, militarized United States doing whatever it wants, even to the point of kidnapping or assassinating foreign leaders, but doing so in a way that is difficult to argue against, because the leaders and other forces being taken out are so horrible, at times to the point of being monstrous, that these acts, as illegal as they are according to internal laws, can still seem very justified, through some lenses.Still others have said they believe this is purely an Israeli op, and the US under Trump is just helping out one of Trump's buddies, Israel's Netanyahu, who wants to keep his country embroiled in war in order to avoid being charged for corruption. The real rationale could be a combination of these and other considerations, but the threat here, regionally, is real, especially if Iran continues to lash out at its neighbors. This part of the world is renowned for its fuel reserves and exports, and every time there's a Middle Eastern conflict, energy prices rise, globally, and other nations that produce such exports, like Russia, benefit financially because they can charge more for their oil and gas for a while—gas prices in the US have already increased by 14% over the past week as a result of the conflict—and those increases also then the raises the price of all sorts of other goods, spiking inflation.Another huge concern here, though, is that this part of the world is highly reliant on the desalination of water just to survive; massive desalination plants, most located along the coast, where they are very exposed to military threats, are at risk if Iran and Saudi Arabia, or Kuwait, or Oman start firing at each other in earnest.About 90% of Kuwait's drinking water comes from these sorts of plants, and about 86% of Oman's and 70% of Saudi Arabia's do, as well.Earlier in this war, a US strike damaged an Iranian desalination plant, and the Iranian foreign minister made a not-so-veiled threat against such plants in neighboring countries, saying the US set the precedent of attacking such infrastructure, not them.Worth noting here, too, is that many desalination plants are attached to power stations, located within the same facility, so attacks on power infrastructure, which are already common in any conflict, could also lead to more damaged desalination plants, all of which could in turn create massive humanitarian crises, as people living in some of the hottest, driest parts of the world find themselves, in the millions, without drinkable water. The potential for a spiraling humanitarian disaster increases with each passing day, then, which would seem to increase the likelihood that someone will stop, declare victory, and move on to the next conflict. But there's always the chance the one or more of the involved forces will clamp down and decide that it's in their best interest to keep things going as long as possible, instead—and in this case, it would likely be Iran playing that role, locking the US and Israel and their allies into a grinding, long-term conflict that no one would actually win.Show Noteshttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axis_of_Resistancehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_and_state_funeral_of_Ruhollah_Khomeinihttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_Iran_massacreshttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Khameneihttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Ali_Khameneihttps://www.eurasiareview.com/08032026-strikes-continue-despite-iranian-presidents-apology/https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/trump-rejects-settling-iran-war-raises-prospect-killing-all-its-potential-2026-03-08/https://www.reuters.com/world/us/irans-retaliation-began-us-officials-scrambled-arrange-evacuations-2026-03-07/https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/mapping-crisis-iran-visual-explainer-2026-03-06/https://apnews.com/live/iran-war-israel-trump-03-08-2026https://apnews.com/article/iran-israel-us-march-8-2026-f0b20dbffaea9351ae1e54183ffe53ffhttps://apnews.com/article/iran-war-desalination-water-oil-middle-east-12b23f2fa26ed5c4a10f80c4077e61cehttps://apnews.com/video/trump-says-us-will-turn-attention-to-cuba-after-war-with-iran-91c3f239c18349fdb409f901c50b7e71https://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/03/08/world/iran-war-trump-israel-lebanonhttps://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/08/us/politics/trump-russia-ukraine-iran-war.htmlhttps://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/07/us/politics/iran-war-first-week.htmlhttps://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2026/03/08/opinion/iran-war-ayatollah.htmlhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_Iran_war This is a public episode. Send a textJoin Professor Jeffrey Sachs for a compelling conversation on Martyrs to the Unspeakable: The Assassinations of JFK, Malcolm, Martin, and RFK by James W. Douglass. In this sweeping work, Douglass reexamines the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., and Robert F. Kennedy, arguing that these four leaders were killed not by isolated actors, but within a deeper context of national security power and Cold War politics.Drawing on extensive documentary evidence, witness testimony, and declassified records, Douglass challenges the official lone-gunman narratives and situates each assassination within a broader struggle between movements for peace and justice and entrenched systems of violence. At the heart of the book is the concept of the “Unspeakable,” a term Douglass uses to describe the hidden structures of power capable of silencing transformative leadership.Together, they explore how each of these figures, in different ways, broke with prevailing orthodoxies, opposing nuclear brinkmanship, militarism, racism, and war, and how their evolving commitments to peace may have placed them in direct conflict with powerful institutions. This episode invites listeners into a profound reconsideration of one of the most turbulent eras in American history. It is a story of conscience and consequence and of how the unresolved traumas of the 1960s continue to echo in political life today.Footnotes:Books by James W. We are coming to the end of the Sylvia Odio story. In episode 6 we finish up this min-series on Sylvia Odio,  by picking up the story  in 1976. Amid intense public pressure and shocking revelations about clandestine intelligence activities from the 1960s, Congress formed the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) to reinvestigate the assassinations of President Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. A key figure in this effort was investigator Gaeton Fonzi, who examined the FBI's original files and the Warren Commission's cursory dismissal of Sylvia Odio's testimony, concluding that the incident "absolutely cries conspiracy." The HSCA vowed a thorough inquiry, reaching out to Sylvia, her family, her doctors, and the anti-Castro mercenaries previously cited to discredit her. Sylvia initially responded with profound distrust, feeling exploited by the Warren Commission, which she believed had no interest in her story. However, after establishing trust, she consented to provide sworn testimony in a private executive session, marking a significant shift from her prior experiences. The committee began by thoroughly debunking the Warren Commission's alibi, which rested on the unreliable claims of anti-Castro mercenary Loran Hall. Under oath, Hall confessed his story was fabricated, while his alleged associates, Lawrence Howard and William Seymour, denied any connection to Odio. Critically, the HSCA confirmed through records that Seymour was employed in Florida throughout September 1963, rendering his presence in Dallas impossible. The report lambasted the FBI's identification methods as deeply flawed and hastily concluded, affirming that the visitors were not Hall, Howard, or Seymour, and exposing the Warren Commission's dependence on a baseless narrative to close the case prematurely. To establish Odio's reliability, the HSCA pursued pre-assassination evidence for corroboration. Sylvia's sister Annie submitted a sworn affidavit verifying the late September visit by two Latinos and an American, and recalling Sylvia's distraught cries of "Leon did it!" upon seeing Oswald on TV during the assassination coverage. Psychiatrist Dr. Burton Einspruch, under oath, described Odio as truthful and cooperative, attributing her 1963 distress to real-life hardships rather than delusions, and confirmed she had recounted the encounter in therapy sessions before November 22. A letter from her father, Amador Odio, penned from a Cuban prison in December 1963, cautioned her about these self-proclaimed "friends," further solidifying the event's timeline and authenticity.Weighing the evidence—including the invalidated alibis, Annie's and Dr. Einspruch's testimonies, and Amador's letter—the HSCA's final report delivered a stunning verdict: Sylvia Odio's account was "essentially credible," with a "strong probability" that one of the men was or resembled Lee Harvey Oswald. This governmental acknowledgment challenged the lone gunman theory, suggesting Oswald or an impersonator was deliberately linking himself to anti-Castro militants weeks before Dallas, possibly to fabricate ties implicating Cuban exiles in the plot. While unable to fully decipher the visit's purpose, the findings opened a chasm of intrigue regarding intelligence machinations and the assassination's deeper truths, forever altering historical perspectives.

They argue information from the war zone is unreliable, but note Iran's missile/drone capabilities and the economic asymmetry of expensive US interceptors versus cheap attacks. They criticize launching strikes during negotiations, question US motives tied to Israel and long-standing regional history, and describe risks around the Strait of Hormuz for oil, gas, and fertilizer flows. They debate claims about attacks on Gulf targets, possible Israeli involvement, and confusion over downed aircraft, while highlighting how infrastructure like data centers and banking systems can become targets. With the advent of the Sylvia Odio series, we are  pivoting  back to (finally) finishing off the Mexico series. In the Odio story, we tell  something tangential to Mexico City  but vastly important overall.  The story of Sylvia Odio is rarely explored in more detail and we do it here. And no,...it's not time yet for Sylvia Duran...that is coming next, but we're going to cover Sylvia Odio first. In episode 5 of this min-series on Sylvia Odio, we pick up  the story right after that moment  on November 22nd, 1963 The weekend following the assassination  when Sylvia Odio and her teenage sister Annie stared at their television in a Dallas hospital and recognized Lee Harvey Oswald as the man who had stood in their living room just weeks earlier—introduced as “Leon” by two militant anti-Castro Cubans. Terrified for their lives and their parents still imprisoned in Cuba, the sisters swore they would never speak of it. But secrets that big refuse to stay buried. Through a tangled Dallas grapevine the story reached the FBI, and the authorities came knocking. What followed became one of the Warren Commission's most explosive and embarrassing chapters. Sylvia proved to be a reluctant yet ironclad witness—consistent under oath, never chasing the spotlight. Her account placed Oswald with anti-Castro extremists in late September 1963, a detail that would demolish the “lone nut” narrative. The Commission knew it was radioactive. Their only defense was a tightly constructed timeline claiming Oswald was already on a bus to Mexico City. Case closed… or so they thought.Desperate for an explanation, the FBI produced Loran Hall, a colorful soldier of fortune who conveniently claimed he and two companions—one who supposedly resembled Oswald—had visited Odio's apartment instead. The Warren Report rushed this unverified story into print, literally admitting the FBI hadn't finished checking it. Then the truth unraveled at lightning speed: Hall's companions denied the visit, employment records proved one was in Florida the entire month, and Hall himself retracted everything. When the FBI showed Sylvia and Annie photos of the supposed visitors, both sisters instantly rejected them. None of the men matched.Yet the Warren Commission published its conclusions anyway, dismissing one of its strongest witnesses as “mistaken.” For years the Odio incident lay buried in the 26 volumes—until the government quietly admitted the Commission had gotten it wrong. This is the story of how the official investigation confronted devastating evidence of conspiracy, found a tidy lie to bury it, and watched that lie collapse before the ink was even dry. The proof of the plot, as researchers have called it, was swept under the rug… but it never really went away.

Episode 313 is part 3 of the mini-series covering Sylvia Odio. In our last episode, we traced Sylvia Odio's fall from Cuban aristocracy—wealthy, U.S.-educated, and immersed in high society—to a destitute exile after her parents, Amador and Sarah, funneled their fortune into the anti-Castro underground. Their arrest and imprisonment by Fidel Castro in October 1961 devastated the family and set Sylvia on a path of heartbreak.Today we follow her survival in the aftermath. Abandoned by her husband in Puerto Rico, Sylvia suffered a shattering emotional breakdown and terrifying fainting spells. With help from her sisters in Dallas and a generous local benefactor, Lucille Connell, she relocated in March 1963 and found psychiatric care under Dr. Burton Einspruch, who later called her truthful, cooperative, and brilliant under oath. This episode builds the critical backdrop for one of the most important pre-assassination sightings of Lee Harvey Oswald. We examine Sylvia's fragile mental state, her complicated new life in Dallas, the people around her, and we travel bacl to  the exact apartment where history was about to knock. Finally we find ourselves  right there when  the knock on the door occurs. Three strangers stood in Sylvia Odio's lighted vestibule. Two Cubans calling themselves Leopoldo and Angelo claimed to be members of JURE, the anti-Castro group her own parents had helped build. With them was a quiet, pale American they introduced as “Leon Oswald.” They knew intimate details about Sylvia's imprisoned father and asked her to help raise money for arms. She turned them down. As they drove away in a red car, Sylvia was left uneasy—but she had no idea how deeply this brief encounter was about to haunt her.

And no,...it's not time yet for Sylvia Duran...that is coming next, but we're going to cover Sylvia Odio first. In the fourth episode of this  mini-series , we continue to  lay the groundwork for what has become known as the most explosive Oswald sightings of the Kennedy assassination. On November 22, 1963, the world changed forever. Sylvia Odio was returning from lunch at her Dallas office when radios blared the news: President Kennedy had been shot. In an instant her mind flashed back to the two Cuban men and the quiet American they called “Leon” who had stood in her apartment just weeks earlier—An image that came to mind  before Oswald's name or face had been released to the public.Sylvia collapsed in the company warehouse, overwhelmed by the connection. Across town her seventeen-year-old sister Annie saw Oswald's photograph on television and felt a chilling jolt of recognition. Rushed to the hospital where Sylvia had been taken, the sisters stared at each other in horror. “Do you remember those three guys who came to the house?” Sylvia whispered. The pieces came together. “Leon did it!” Sylvia  cried.Terrified for their parents—still political prisoners in Castro's Cuba—and fearing the entire exile community would be blamed, Sylvia and Annie swore a pact of silence. Yet a secret this explosive could not stay hidden. Through a chain of phone calls, a classroom conversation, and the son of FBI Agent James Hosty, the story reached the authorities, pulling Sylvia Odio into one of the most fiercely debated episodes of the Warren Commission investigation.Next time: How the FBI and the Commission tried—and failed—to bury the mother of all Oswald sightings

Were going to cover Sylvia Odio first. In the second episode of this  mini-series premiere, we continue to  lay the groundwork for what has become known as the most explosive Oswald sightings of the Kennedy assassination. In this second episode, we explore the question Why Sylvia Odio? Why did mysterious strangers single out this woman from among thousands of Cuban exiles? The answer lies in the blood-soaked drama of pre-revolutionary Cuba. Born in 1937 into one of the island's wealthiest and most influential families, Sylvia Eugenia Odio was the eldest daughter of transport tycoon Amador Odio-Padrón—once called Latin America's “transport tycoon” by Time magazine—and Sarah Odio. The family lived at the pinnacle of Cuban society, owning vast estates, hobnobbing with diplomats, and sending Sylvia to elite schools in Philadelphia before law studies at home. Yet beneath the privilege burned a fierce revolutionary fire: the Odios had fought every dictator from Machado to Batista, then poured their trucking empire into Fidel Castro's rebel cause, smuggling weapons and even supplying the truck for the daring 1957 Presidential Palace assault. When Castro seized power in 1959 and swiftly betrayed every democratic promise—executing opponents, muzzling the press, and confiscating property—the Odios once again went underground. Amador helped found the powerful anti-Castro MRP movement alongside Manolo Ray. In October 1961 the regime struck: Castro's agents raided the family's idyllic El Cano estate, arrested Amador and Sarah for hiding a wanted MRP leader, and turned their luxury home into a women's prison. Sarah would spend eight years locked inside her own confiscated property; Amador was shipped to the infamous Isle of Pines. (Despite persistent rumors, no credible FBI, Warren Commission, or HSCA evidence ever linked the Odios to the Mafia; they were political idealists who lost everything for their principles.)Meanwhile, Sylvia—already in exile in Puerto Rico with four young children—learned her parents faced possible execution. Her husband abandoned her, and overnight the heiress became destitute. The trauma triggered crushing blackouts and a complete emotional collapse. In March 1963, two younger sisters in Dallas and a compassionate network of Cuban-refugee helpers raised money to bring Sylvia and her children to Texas. Settled in Dallas, she began psychiatric care with Dr. Burton Einspruch, found work at Knoll Associates, and by September 1963 was finally rebuilding a stable life in a new apartment on Magellan Circle. But Sylvia's family name still carried enormous weight in the shadowy world of anti-Castro militants—and in the final days of September 1963, that Cold War shadow followed her all the way to her Dallas doorstep, delivering visitors who would forever link her story to one of the most fateful events in American history.

Mini podcast about this day in history, 2 March 2016, when Honduran Indigenous environmental activist Berta Cáceres was assassinated in her home. Of Lenca descent, she co-founded the Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH), and was a leading participant in defending Lenca land from illegal logging and US military bases. She was also an advocate for LGBT+ and women's rights, and believed that: “Mother Earth – militarized, fenced-in, poisoned, a place where basic rights are systematically violated – demands that we take action.” At the time of her murder, Cáceres was heavily in Indigenous protests against hydroelectric dams being constructed by energy company DESA alongside Chinese firm Sinohydro and the World Bank. Several members of COPINH were killed by the Honduran military and company security during protests, which eventually forced Sinohydro and the World Bank to withdraw from the project. Cáceres was eventually shot dead in her home. A Mexican environmentalist, Gustavo Castro Soto, was also shot twice but survived. Nine men were later arrested and charged for the murder. They included the executive president of DESA, who was also a former military intelligence officer, as well as three other current or retired military officers, two of whom had been trained by the US military at the notorious School of the Americas. Eight were subsequently convicted and jailed, including the DESA president.Learn more about Cáceres' life and murder in this book: https://shop.workingclasshistory.com/products/who-killed-berta-caceres-nina-lakhaniOur work is only possible because of support from you, our listeners on patreon. However, lost among the arguments between the left and the right about which group of people is screwing them over, is the plain fact that some conspiracies are real and accepted. So why are conspiracy theories treated differently from other sorts of theories? Is it necessary to pretend that the Reagan administration never traded arms for hostages, or that the FBI wasn't attacking Black leaders under COINTELPRO, in order to avoid the "tinfoil hat" label? Why would it be necessary for labels at all? Are the often ridiculous assertions put forth by QANON believers characteristic of everyone who disagrees with the party line?TINFOIL HAT NOT INCLUDED attempts to rationally unpack what is meant by conspiracy, why conspiracy theorists are worse than other sorts of theorists, and whether all of this isn't simply the criminalization of dissent. After all, if the colonists hadn't believed that King George had been conspiring against them, we likely wouldn't have a United States.BookAbout Joe Green: I am the author of the books TINFOIL HAT NOT INCLUDED and DISSENTING VIEWS I & II.
