Yoav Git and Alan Dunne sits down for a conversation that challenges familiar assumptions about curve trading, market structure, and the role of CTAs. They explore why dislocations across time horizons create pockets of alpha most models miss, and how breakout behavior in commodity spreads signals more than noise. Drawing on a recent Bank of England study, Yoav explains how different participants leave distinct footprints on the FX curve, and why CTAs, far from being passive allocators, can act as dynamic responders to changing regimes. This is systematic trading, without the shorthand.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Alan on Twitter.Follow Yoav on LinkedIn.Episode TimeStamps:01:32 - What has caught our attention recently?07:10 - Industry performance update09:20 - Dont just trend it, curve it16:33 - The drivers of spread23:26 - Breaking markets into factors26:37 - Mastering speed in spread trades31:39 - Is there too much money in trend?36:47 - Key insights into FX trading44:23 - How dealers and market makers approach risk differently47:28 - The thought provoking fact about the top 5% dealers and market makers50:23 - The real process of an allocator56:39 - Using trend as part of a long term strategy01:01:35 - You should just go play...

This week we're beginning our series on Alien: Earth. Having watched the Alien film series in its entirety at the end of last year, we are perfectly prepared, poised like an apex predator, and above all really bloody excited to embark upon a full, week-by-week viewing of the new FX series, Alien: Earth. Alien: Earth has been created and overseen by Noah Hawley, the creator of TV shows Legion and Fargo, both of which are a careful mix of faithfulness and creativity - exactly the qualities we, over the course of many podcasts, have identified as crucial to the best IP storytelling. Join us this week to discuss the double episode opener, and then every Monday to discuss new episodes in the series. Episode 57 - SPOILER Review: Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025)Just when it was starting to look pretty bleak for comic movies (over saturation, becoming extremely dark, forgettable stories, visual effects suffering from unsustainable output stretching visual FX artists too thin), it looks like studios are getting the message. First "Superman" from DC/Warner Brothers and now for today's episode we see how Marvel/Disney with "Fantastic Four: First Steps" has done an about face and put a "fantastic" crowd-pleaser of movie to die-hard comic-fans and popcorn moviegoers alike. For today's episode our friend of the podcast, Ali-Reza Beheshti, returns and we both get into how this movie completely surprised us. A beautifully shot, wonderfully paced, thrill ride of a movie. There was a part that was a little bit of a "stretch" but the movie still was so much fun that you can almost completely let this detail go. Almost. Michael Giacchino returns as Marvel's go-to Composer but here he really crafts something epic and unique on par with John Williams music from classics such as Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park. This one must be seen in the theaters. It will make you a believer in comic-book movies again. There is still life in this category of movies. Here is to hoping the studios continue to space these movies out enough to keep the creativity, anticipation, and quality going!"Fantastic Four: First Steps" is playing in theaters now. We've got more episodes, reviews, and recommendations coming your way. If you're enjoying the show, please leave a review, it really helps the podcast. Thanks for listening, and enjoy the movie.

I have very mixed feeling about Jaws: The Revenge. On the one hand, I found it disappointing when compared to earlier films, on the other hand I am fascinated that it was made and audiences reaction or lack of reaction to it. It is the last of the Jaws film, but was it the killer of the franchise or was the franchise already dying and this was just the last gasp? I saw most of Jaws: The Revenge by myself. I don't think I had a critical eye at the time, because even though I wanted it to be better, I was entertained enough by it, especially once it started. The FX did stand out as bad, but I liked the change in setting and the silliness of the shark seeking revenge. On this episode of the show, I will talk about the road to making the sequel, the writers, the director, the music, its reception and much more. Its a messy film that might not be critically great, but that doesn't mean its not interesting. This was a weird movie for me to cover in that I don't think its a great film. That is not something I usually do. The thing is, the more I started watching it, thinking about it, and reading the novelization, the more interesting I found it. As you move further along in the Jaws sequels, fewer and fewer people see them. With this one, things have flatlined. Its reputation precedes it so much that people have avoided it like a shark plagued Amity beach. So will you think the movie is great after listening to this? Probably not, and I am not trying to convince you, but I do hope it makes you think about the movie.

On this week's episode, the guys dive into a stimulating and timely discussion about the current state of artificial intelligence (AI) and its rapid evolution in various sectors. Joe shares his insights with Cody, highlighting the transformative impact AI is having on industries ranging from healthcare to entertainment, and the ethical dilemmas that come along with its advancement. He emphasizes the importance of understanding AI's capabilities and limitations as society navigates this technological frontier. Following this engaging conversation, Joe shifts gears to talk about his recent experience with the open beta for Battlefield 6 multiplayer. He describes the thrill of jumping into the action, detailing the game's graphics, mechanics, and the overall gameplay experience. This leads to a broader discussion about the Battlefield franchise itself, where they reminisce about the evolution of the series, its iconic moments, and how it has shaped the first-person shooter genre over the years. They also explore the competitive landscape of multiplayer gaming and how Battlefield 6 stacks up against its rivals. As the episode progresses, there is a brief yet exciting talk about the revival of the beloved animated series King of the Hill. The guys reflect on the show's cultural significance and its unique portrayal of American suburban life, pondering what new storylines and character developments might be in store for the revival. They speculate about the potential for nostalgia to play a role in the new episodes and how the creators might balance honoring the original series while introducing fresh content for both old fans and new viewers. The episode takes an intriguing turn when they discuss a recent story suggesting that Ubisoft may have inadvertently leaked information regarding FX's plans to develop a live-action television series based on the popular video game franchise, Far Cry. Joe and Cody examine the implications of this potential adaptation, considering how the rich narratives and diverse settings of the Far Cry games could translate to the small screen. They also talk about the involvement of notable creators Rob McElhenney and Noah Hawley, speculating on how their unique storytelling styles might shape the series. This leads to a broader conversation about the trend of adapting video games into television and film, discussing both successes and failures in the industry. Overall, this episode is packed with insightful commentary and lively discussions that not only entertain but also provoke thought about the intersections of technology, gaming, and storytelling in contemporary culture.Official Website: https://www.comesnaturallypodcast.comOfficial Merchandise: https://shop.spreadshirt.com/comes-naturally-podcast/iTunes: http://tinyurl.com/kqkgackFacebook: http://tinyurl.com/myovgm8Tumblr: http://tinyurl.com/m7a6mg9Twitter: @ComesNaturalPodYouTube: http://tiny.cc/5snxpy

Currency markets can be a lot like equity markets in that over or under-valuations can stay stretched for longer than one might think possible, before mean reversion inevitably kicks in. Maintaining an effective FX process for the long-term requires special attention to these questions of fair value, while also keeping an eye on the day-to-day headlines and short-term price dislocations that offer opportunities for alpha. Aaron Hurd, a senior portfolio manager at State Street Investment Management, joins the podcast this week for a wide-ranging discussion on FX, from how to think around these long-term drivers of portfolio construction, to current views on the major currencies, particularly where the US Dollar goes next.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Back in April 2024, I was lucky enough to visit the set of Noah Hawley's Alien: Earth in Thailand where I played detective with stars Samuel Blenkin and Alex Lawther. At the start of our three-day visit, we knew little about where Hawley and co. were taking the iconic franchise, so my one-on-one chats with Blenkin and Lawther were all about trying to figure out who their characters are, how they fit into this situation, and what they want out of it. A little over a year later, we reunited at San Diego Comic-Con for another chat where the duo built upon what we discussed in Bangkok and dug into some of what we see unfold in the first three episodes of the series.Alien: Earth takes place in the year 2120, two years before the events of the first film. Blenkin's Boy Kavalier created one of the five companies that run the planet, Prodigy Corporation. Considered a “boy genius,” Boy K created the program that gives us Wendy, Sydney Chandler's character, the first synthetic to be infused with human consciousness. Her brother, Lawther's Hermit, has no idea she's undergone such a procedure, so when the two reunite and he realizes who she is, it's a mighty complex situation, to say the least. With the first three episodes of Alien: Earth now available to watch, it's time to release my conversation with Blenkin and Lawther filmed at SDCC in FX's podcast studio created in partnership with Press Play: Creatives and At Will Media. In true Collider Forces fashion, we carved out time to discuss their journeys on the stage and screen, and pivotal experiences of honing their crafts as actors, and then veered into Alien: Earth territory where Blenkin and Lawther dug into key scene partners, character motivations, and deleted scenes. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Nick is joined by Hollywood Reporter TV critic Dan Fienberg for a conversation about his site The Fien Print and the latest chaos in the Big Brother house. They cover the return of King of the Hill, what to expect from Wednesday Season 2, and the debut of FX's Alien: Earth. The discussion also touches on Ozzy Osbourne's surprising TV legacy, the politics of South Park, and other small-screen topics. Esmeralda Leon then teams up with Nick to swap outrageous CTA stories. From a man licking every pole and handrail on a train, to Nick's bus ride with a loose mouse, to a woman on the Blue Line eating scrambled eggs with her bare hands right next to him—these tales prove public transit is never boring. [Ep 376]
