Dr. John Whitcomb instructs us further regarding "The Necessity of God's Power" in this message, continuing his series on "Biblical Apologetics," which was first delivered at Appalachian Bible College in Mount Hope, W.Va. This sermon reinforces the certainty that God's Word is true from the beginning to the end by explaining more about how to share our faith with those who disagree and resist the message of God's grace. It goes into detail regarding the power source that influences unbelievers—namely Satan and his demons, and how they relate to history and prophecy. With host Wayne Shepherd, we consider how to respond Biblically when unbelievers are less than enthusiastic about our witness for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank you for joining us on this edition of "Encounter God's Truth" from Whitcomb Ministries. We encourage you to make full use of this program by sharing it with a friend who could be encouraged by it.

Dr. John Munro, senior pastor of Calvary Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, and host of The Verdict radio program, talks with Wayne Shepherd about his journey from law to ministry. (click for more...) Website: www.calvarychurch.comThe Verdict Radio Program: https://theverdict.orgOriginally from Scotland, Pastor Munro was raised in a Christian home and came to faith at age 12. After a successful career as a prosecutor and attorney, he felt a strong, Spirit-led call to leave law and study at Dallas Theological Seminary, leading him into pastoral ministry in North America. He and his wife, Gudny, from the Faroe Islands, have served faithfully for decades, focusing on preaching grace and shepherding people with compassion. Munro spoke candidly about losing his adopted son, Christopher, during the COVID pandemic—a tragedy that deepened his understanding of grief and dependence on God's sustaining grace. Through that experience, he learned the power of presence over words and gained renewed empathy for those who suffer. Now in later years, he continues to serve passionately, viewing ministry as a lifelong calling rather than a profession to retire from, grateful to be used by God wherever He leads. This week on "Encounter God's Truth" from Whitcomb Ministries, Bible teacher Dr. John Whitcomb presents part one of a message called "The Necessity of God's Power." We go to Appalachian Bible College in Mount Hope, W.Va., along with host Wayne Shepherd, to learn how the Bible clearly explains that every person possesses a sin nature that renders us totally depraved. This desperate condition requires God's perfect ability in order to make it possible for anyone to believe the gospel and be saved. This can never be accomplished by our feeble attempts to manipulate or trick people into accepting the gospel. In this lesson, Dr. Whitcomb unfolds the place that arguments and evidences for the Christian faith should have in our witness—in light of both the total depravity of man and the inspiration and authority of the Scriptures. God's Word is true from the beginning to the end! Thanks for listening to it today on "Encounter God's Truth."

Today Dr. John Whitcomb continues his series on "Biblical Apologetics" by concluding our consideration of "Evolutionary Difficulties." We are going to look at some of the Scriptural imperatives that we must practice in order to be effective in sharing our faith with the unbelieving world—also considering the powerful impact that our own lives have upon the effectiveness of our witness for the gospel. Guided by Wayne Shepherd, we travel together to Appalachian Bible College in Mount Hope, W.Va., which has graciously allowed Whitcomb Ministries to distribute these messages to a wider audience by way of radio. We are glad that you have joined us for this program, and hope that the broadcast will challenge you to share the gospel with others now—while there is still time.

Professor Emeritus at Moody Bible Institute, Dr. Winfred Neely talks with Wayne Shepherd about his life of preaching and teaching. (click for more...) Dr. Neely shares his remarkable journey of faith and his lifelong calling to preach and teach the Word of God. Introduced to prayer by his mother as a child, Neely came to personal faith in Christ at age 19 while serving in the U.S. Army through the witness of a humble dishwasher who led him to salvation. Just two weeks later, he began preaching—a calling that has shaped more than fifty years of ministry as a pastor, missionary in West Africa, and teacher of biblical exposition. In conversation with Wayne Shepherd, Neely describes preaching as the sacred task of a “herald” who faithfully proclaims God's message without compromise, combining instruction, engagement, and transformation. Grounded in prayer and Scripture, his approach to preaching emphasizes faithfulness to the text, dependence on the Holy Spirit, and deep concern for the listener's heart. His passion for training the next generation of preachers reflects his conviction that true preaching begins with God's dealings in the life of the preacher and extends through him to the world. We go deeper into "Biblical Apologetics" today on "Encounter God's Truth" with Dr. John Whitcomb. This is Part One of a message on "Evolutionary Difficulties." In it we tackle challenging questions like these: Since evolution is not true, why is it so difficult to convince unbelievers regarding the Bible's account of creation? And why do so many Christians even seem unwilling to agree on the Biblical position? Also, how are we as Christians to go about seeking to bring ardent unbelievers to the Lord? Or to strengthen struggling believers? Whitcomb Ministries expresses appreciation to Appalachian Bible College in Mount Hope, West Virginia, for allowing us to bring you this conference audio. Wayne Shepherd, our host, sets the context for this important and timely lesson that is intended to help us effectively communicate that God's Word is true from the beginning to the end. We encourage you to share this broadcast with others.

Ken is Vice-President of Programs and Government Relations at Samaritan's Purse, and the author of Running to the Fire, Helping in Jesus' Name. Interview Notes:Former water well driller, went as a volunteer to West Africa (1985). Felt called by God to serve internationally. Connection with Franklin Graham led to work in Ethiopia with his family under difficult conditions (communist govt., war). Experience deepened faith and reliance on God.At 73, still actively serving—“Moses never retired.” Loves the work, considers it God's calling. Finds purpose and energy in “running to the fire”—meeting needs in crises.Samaritan's Purse Ministry:17–18 international offices, ~4,000 staff.Focus on war zones, famine areas, disaster zones (Israel, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, South Sudan, Congo, Niger, Liberia, Colombia, etc.). Staff chosen for faith commitment and skills (body of Christ with diverse roles). All service explicitly in Jesus' name—aid is unconditional.Philosophy:Meeting urgent needs (food, water, shelter, medicine) creates a platform for witness. Work must be done with excellence; poor quality undermines witness. Reputation sought: compassionate, loving, present in people's greatest needPartnerships:Works with local churches and Christian organizations. Example: Mission Eurasia in Ukraine; 1,600 churches partnered there. Seeks partners passionate about proclaiming Christ.Global Needs & Focus:Sudan: Severe civil war, famine, displacement (12 million displaced, 150,000 killed). Gaza: Food distribution, partnerships with local groups despite conflict.Syria: Healthcare, new opportunities with emerging governance. Emphasis: most crises are politically driven, not natural disasters.Funding & Resources:Less than 5% of support from US govt. $530B in US private giving vs. $43B government aid (2023). Independence from government allows freedom and faith-based work.Scriptural Foundation:Luke 10 (Good Samaritan) – “Go and do likewise.”Matthew 24 – signs of the end times: wars, famines, earthquakes; Isaacs sees Samaritan's Purse as positioned for these times.Encouragement to Listeners:Stay generous; pray for leaders worldwide.Follow updates at samaritanspurse.org. God's Word is true from the beginning to the end. We know that—but how do we convince other people who do not believe it? That is our focus in this new series of messages here on "Encounter God's Truth." They were originally recorded live as Dr. John Whitcomb delivered them to a conference at Appalachian Bible College in Mount Hope, West Virginia. Today, Dr. Whitcomb begins a sermon entitled, "Basic Biblical Answers." We are considering the profound issue of how we must present the Bible to non-believers in this postmodern, post-Christian culture. Our teacher opens by using illustrations from the disciplines of science and history to exemplify the challenges that evolutionists face, which we must probe as we proclaim the gospel to those who do not yet believe in Christ. Please join along with host Wayne Shepherd as we open this series on "Biblical Apologetics." This would also be a great opportunity to share our program with a believing—or unbelieving—friend.
