This podcast features two award-winning speculative fiction authors reading to a live audience at Windsor’s Phog Lounge. Coming to us from London Ontario, Timothy S. Johnston is an award-winning writer of futuristic and contemporary mystery/thrillers. He has won multiple awards including the CYGNUS, the CLUE , and the Science Fiction Epic Award. In this episode, he reads from his lates award-winning novel, The War Beneath. Next is the Detroit-based author of over a dozen novels and countless short stories, Kathe Koja. She has been a major voice in genre fiction for many years. Her stories frequently concern characters who have been in some way marginalized by society. She has also won many awards, including the Bram Stoker Award and the Locus Award for her first novel, The Cipher, and the Deathrealm Award for Strange Angels. Kathe has since branched off into other genres, including young adult and multi-media projects, and she shares some of her work with our ChiZine Series audience at the Phog. In this episode, we'll talk with author and University of Windsor faculty member, Heidi Jacobs about her new novel inspired by the historic Daniel Defoe novel, Moll Flanders. We'll also hear a clip of Christian Laforet of Adventure Worlds Press reading from his new novel at the ChiSeries Reading at Windsor's premier downtown music venue, the Phog Lounge. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Heidi L.M. Jacobs completed her Bachelor’s and Masters’ degrees in English at the University of Alberta. She also holds a Mater’s of Library and Information Science from Western University, and a PhD in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is currently the English and History Librarian at the University of Windsor and Co-Director of the Centre for Digital Scholarship. And she’s a superb writer. Her new novel is Molly of the Mall: Literary Lass & Purveyor of Fine Footwear: Her History and Misadventures, released just this spring by NeWest Press.

TransCanada Transpondency Adam Gratrix continues on another 3 week adventure across Canada A travelogue, of sorts. Part 13: On the Danforth in Toronto at a bar called The Only, Scarborough Dude passes on the Rock, after a change of heart, to Adam for him to return it back to Vancouver. Adam leaves the Brampton Boys to reunited with the girl who had surprised him at the airport. They visit Windsor to have drinks at the Phog Lounge, owned by fellow podcaster Tom Lucier. All and all, they spend four romantic days together before Adam flies out to Calgary.
