Il tempio, nella storia del popolo d’Israele, ha avuto un’importanza vitale. Situato nella città santa, Gerusalemme, era considerato il luogo sacro della presenza di Dio. In senso traslato, Gesù ha parlato del tempio del suo corpo. La Chiesa si definisce tempio del Dio vivente. San Paolo ci ricorda che siamo templi dello Spirito, perché abita in noi la divinità. Tutte le chiese, prima di essere adibite a luogo di culto, con una speciale liturgia vengono consacrate, rese cioè a uso esclusivo dei fedeli per le celebrazioni delle sacre liturgie e per la preghiera. Ogni anno si fa memoria della consacrazione e dedicazione della propria chiesa con una celebrazione che, capitando sempre in giorni feriali, sfugge alla stragrande maggioranza dei fedeli. Oggi, con particolare solennità, ricordiamo e celebriamo la dedicazione della cattedrale di Roma, la Basilica Lateranense, cattedrale del Papa, la Mater et Caput, la madre e il capo di tutte le chiese. Il Vangelo di Giovanni ci fa riflettere sul fatto che il tempio, se non adornato di veri adoratori in spirito e verità, perde ogni suo valore e non rimane che pietra su pietra. Adorare in spirito e verità significa dare il giusto culto a Dio con la preghiera e con la vita. Non dovremmo cioè cadere nell’errore che suscita un acuto rimprovero da parte del Signore verso il suo popolo eletto: “Questo popolo si avvicina a me solo a parole, mi onora con le labbra, mentre il suo cuore è lontano da me, e il culto che mi rendono è un imparaticcio di usi umani”. Il valore e la sacralità del tempio dipendono quindi dalla verità e dallo spirito che lo animano. È il luogo della comunione con Dio e tra noi, che, senza abusare del titolo, ci definiamo fratelli. Oggi dovremmo rafforzare il santo proposito di rispettare il luogo sacro dove celebriamo i divini misteri, rivedere i nostri comportamenti e soprattutto interrogarci se davvero siamo veri adoratori o solo comparse.

A whole lot of Roman Catholics around the world awoke today to deep disappointment. Not only did the new Papal document, Mater Papuli Fidelis, not define the 5th Marian dogma, it was, evidently, meant to be the stake in the heart of the movement to have that dogma defined. This was quite a shock to many, but in reality, this new document proves once again one fundamental reality: Rome operates on her own authority (sola ecclesia) and does not have access to anything that is truly "Apostolic tradition." We dive into the topic, and the documentation, today on the program, but will need to finish up on Thursday. This is a pretty important discussion of a central and current discussion relating to modern Roman Catholicism.

News: It is that time of the year to start planning for the Halloween season at Disneyland. Next week, Oogie Boogie Bash tickets go on sale. This is a competetive event to get tickets for, so be sure to get in early and pick your dates. Inspire Magic Key holders can get tickets starting on June 24th no earlier then 9am Disneyland time, with all other Magic Key holders having an opportunity starting June 25th. General public sales start on June 26th. Mickey's Trick and Treat is coming to the Disney Theater for the fall, replacing Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! In this episode, I read through my latest discharge papers from the Mater Mental Health Hospital, offering an unfiltered and completely vulnerable look at what actually happens during a psychiatric assessment in an emergency department, during my most acute mental illness battles. • The hospital notes describe me as articulate and intelligent, with strong insight into my mental health • Diagnoses listed include BPD, ADHD, autism, OCD, and multiple anxiety disorders • The psychiatrist also flagged “Cluster C personality vulnerabilities,” which I found interesting and might explore in a future episode • I talk through the ongoing challenges of medication management, plus possible future treatments like TMS and esketamine/ketamine • I also share my frustration with the NSW mental health system — while staying open to anything that might help me get better • This episode follows on from Back to the Mater, where I recorded myself just before walking into the hospital seeking help.
