The title of my message today is “How would you describe church?” There are more than a few words: God, worship, family, beliefs, praise, preaching, casseroles. Another set of words: boring, preachy, judgmental, money, casseroles. Regardless of the words we use, we might want to be thinking about the words God wants to use. If we are going to have church, His words ought to build the program. Turn with me today to Psalm 100 where we find those words.

A.W. Tozer wrote, “God wants worshippers before workers; indeed, the only acceptable workers are those who have learned the art of worship.” Tozer was commenting on our tendency to elevate serving the Lord as workers above serving the Lord as worshippers. If we’re not careful, worship becomes a performance, a job to accomplish. We can allow our egos and preferences to get in the way. When that happens, who or what are we actually worshipping? God, ourselves, or other people’s approval? Psalms is a great place to turn to evaluate our hearts, motivations, and understanding of worship. In this message, we look at Psalms 100 and 150, two of the best-known hymns of thanksgiving and praise in the Bible, to help us master the art of worship.

Every week we do this unique thing. We come and sing songs together, about who Jesus is and what he has done and what we are asking him to do. Why? And how does Jesus want us to worship him? Let's learn from the Psalms about why and how we should worship Jesus.

The actions and attitudes we bring to our worship experiences dictate their impact on our lives and those we lead. God is the one true God who gives us the privilege of worshiping Him. We must approach Him with excitement, thankfulness, reverence and gratitude. Sermon Outline @ http://bible.com/events/48863200

How Can I Grow Closer to God?
Life is crazy... especially right now. What do we reach for when things feel out of control? In this episode, Pastor Chris Kipp teaches from Psalm 100 on the meaning of God's long-term love when things are crazy in the short-term. www.ren-church.org #alloflifealltheearth
As we celebrate the Blessing of the Backpacks we are reminded that God chooses us, both children and adults, regardless of who we are, to be part of his ongoing story.
What do discipleship and fruit have to do with each other? Well, more than you might think... In this Sermon, Melanie Poturica shares how faith and love and yes, fruit, can lead us into deeper, more meaningful discpleship with Christ. Scripture readings of the day are Psalm 100 and John 15: 9-11, Galatians 5:22.
In this hymn, with words by Charles Wesley, the understanding of sanctification as a "second rest" that "takes away our bent to sinning" (or "takes away our power of sinning") is elaborated upon as a key aspect of the Wesleyan Via Salutis (Way of Salvation) that leads to being perfected in love by the grace of God (Christian Perfection).
Thank you for being here and celebrating with us our Lord’s resurrection this Easter weekend. As I say that, I know we are all here for different reasons. We all have a little different story running of what brings us to church today, or any Sunday. I have gone to church all my life, but not for the same reason every time.
