What makes Episcopalian worship music unique? What's up with all the chanting? What role does music play in the liturgy-- and in our faith? Mario Buchanan, Director of Music at Christ Church Episcopal in Hudson, Ohio, is here to talk all things Episcopalian music. We discuss the importance of singing in unison, the benefits of children's choir, what it's like to grow a music program in a small town, and the vulnerability it takes to sing around others. We hope this episode leaves you singing the descant with pride! Follow us on Instagram: @average.episcopalian.

église AB Lausanne ; KJV Psalms 95 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: ...

In the Take It In episode, I look at Psalm 100:1 and talk about what it means to use our lives to make a joyful noise unto the Lord.Psalm 100:1 (KJV)“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.” This week's verse is the very first section of scripture I memorized as a kindergarten student. I attended Independence Christian School in Independence, Missouri, and early in the academic year, my teacher introduced me to Psalm 100. It's been a favorite of mine ever since. https://livesteadyon.com/Email Angie at: steadyonpodcast@gmail.comFacebook @livesteadyonInstagram @angiebaughman421 Grab freebies and subscribe to the weekly Steady On newsletter at: https://livesteadyon.com/live-steady-on-newsletter/ You can download a blank study sheet here:https://livesteadyon.com/sbs-blank-study-sheet/ Interested in the Step By Step Bible study method? Join us this week as we kick off a new series looking at how the Psalms speak to us. I have a great discussion with my sister Katie and longtime friend Sharon about worship, what true worship is, corporate vs. private worship, and worshiping through lament. It is a great conversation that you don't want to miss!
In this episode Shawn and Dustin discuss how God is in fact our real boss in this world, and that our employer is not the one we ultimately serve. They discuss the importance of a Christian's work ethic, a balance between work and home life, and the need to provide for a family as a Christian's primary duty, as well as being the spiritual leader of his household. 5.17.23 Episode 154 of KC Corner where Pastor Jeff Jakes and Brooks Robinson recap this week's Bible reading on Mark 9-11 2 Corinthians 1-5 Psalms 95-100 1 Samuel 1-14
When I was a kid, I remember hearing the phrase "music hath charms to sooth the savage beast". It was used as a plot devise where a hero, in the midst of a dangerous situation, (usually involving their imminent death from becoming dinner for a lion) would magically produce a flute or some other instrument and put said lion to sleep on the spot. It was funny, but there is SOME truth in that concept. Music does calm us down, fire us up, inspire us and at its best, bring us together. In the midst of great music played by great musicians, those of us blessed by bearing witness to it, are joined together in ways that are deeply moving. This week, Antoine and I talk about music in our lives. We explore the different styles of music that have been a part of our lives and probe the power and possibilities of using music to bring us together. Perhaps it can be a tool in breaking down prejudices and be a muse that moves us to listen to our better angels. And a one and a two, hit it maestro. Thanks for listening. Please check out our website at www.forsauk.com to hear great conversations on topics that need to be talked about. In these times of intense polarization we all need to find time to expand our Frame of Reference.

What does it mean to make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth? Does just "any noise" work or is there more that we should be doing? Why does the Psalmist call us to respond to God in the authoritative ways that he does in Psalm 100? It's almost as if God is our King or something? Join Pastor Drew as he digs into the truths of Psalm 100 and reminds us that God is our King, He is Good, and His steadfast love endures forever and that the implications of these truths are "life giving" as they apply to the church and future generations of Christians.
