Resolute Podcast

You work hard. You push forward. You strive for more. But when was the last time you actually enjoyed what God has already given you? Welcome to The Daily. We go through the bible verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter, every single day. Our text today is Ecclesiastes 5:19-20. Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil—this is the gift of God. For he will not much remember the days of his life because God keeps him occupied with joy in his heart. — Ecclesiastes 5:19-20 The Real Treasure We spend so much of our lives striving—chasing success, accumulating possessions, and seeking the next big thing. But Solomon, a man who literally had everything, tells us that the real gift isn't the wealth itself. It's the ability to enjoy it. To slow down and truly enjoy it. And that joy? That contentment? It's not something you have earned from hard work alone—it's a gift from God. Enjoying What God Provides Notice again that Solomon doesn't condemn wealth, possessions, or hard work. He acknowledges them as blessings from God. But they only become meaningful when we take the time to enjoy them. That power doesn't come from the money itself—it comes from God. God gives us the ability to find joy in our work, to accept our place in life, and the opportunity to be present in the moment. The Secret to a Joy-Filled Life But verse 20 contains a powerful insight: The person who lives with God-given contentment doesn't dwell on the hardships of life. Why? Because God fills his heart with joy. He's not stuck in the past, weighed down by regrets. He's not obsessed with an uncertain future. He's fully engaged in the present because his joy isn't rooted in circumstances—it's anchored in God. A Challenge for Today Are you constantly chasing more, or are you enjoying what God has already given? Are you restless, or do you have peace in your work and daily life? True joy isn't found in what we own—it's found in knowing the One who gives everything. Stop and enjoy him and his blessing to you today. #JoyInChrist, #GodsBlessings, #Contentment ASK THIS: What are some gifts from God that you've taken for granted? How can you practice contentment in your daily life today? What is one way you can slow down and enjoy what God has provided? How does anchoring your joy in God change your perspective on success? DO THIS: Pause today and thank God for at least three blessings you already have—then take time to truly enjoy them. PRAY THIS: Lord, help me to recognize and enjoy the blessings You have already given me instead of constantly chasing more. Fill my heart with joy that comes from You, not from my circumstances. Amen. PLAY THIS: I'll Give Thanks.

Do Everything You Do with a Grateful Heart - Psalm 107:1-3I am speaking of course about GRACE vision goggles! Those who have received God's grace through faith in Jesus are able to have a constant perspective that will help them serve God with clarity and confidence.5 G Living: Do Everything you do:For the Glory of GodFor the Good of your fellow manTo get the Gospel to non-believersTo help your fellow Christians GrowWith a Grateful HeartThe Hebrew word for Give Thanks is yada (H3034), which occurs 114 times in the Old Testament. It literally means “to throw” or “to cast.” Used toward God, it means “to praise” or “to give thanks.” But it is also used toward ourselves to confess our sins to God (Psalm 32:5).I acknowledged (H3034) my sin to You, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess (H3034) my transgressions to the LORD,” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.” - Psalm 32:5The word benefit in Luke 6, verses 32-33, and credit in verse 34 is actually the great word charis, the word for grace and favor but also a word translated benefit, credit, thanks and gratitude in the New Testament. The word for steadfast love in Psalm 107:1 is the great word Hesed (H2617), which occurs 251 times in the Old Testament. It is translated steadfast love in the ESV, Faithful love in the HCSB, Lovingkindness and Mercy in the KJV. It is used of God's covenant love toward Israel. The closest New Testament word to it may very well be grace. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace (G5485) extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving (G2169), to the glory of God. - Romans 4:15Being grateful is all about recognizing God's blessing in your life, from His common grace to His saving grace. A grateful heart becomes the “Night vision goggles” of 5 G Living.I give thanks (G2168) to my God always for you because of the grace (G5485) of God that was given you in in Christ Jesus. - 1 Cor. 1:4Thanks (G5485) be to God for His inexpressible gift. - 2 Cor. 9:15Note that the word for grace is translated thanks in 2 Corinthians 9:15. A Grateful heart is a grace-filled heart! As each one has received a gift (G5486), use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace (G5485). - 1 Peter 4:10For this is a gracious (G5485) thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows for while suffering unjustly. - 1 Pet. 2:19The benefits of gratitude go beyond the spiritual to the physical, psychological, and social.

Luke 17:11-19Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”

Kicking off a new year, join me (Tosha Williams) as we focus on adopting the powerful "I will" mindset. In this new conversation series, we're going to look at multiple "I WILLS" from Isaiah chapter 12, starting with "I Will Give Thanks." Giving thanks can deepen our understanding of what God is doing in and around us. Let's start this year with gratitude then seek to instill that mindset into those entrusted to us! Listen in on this podcast episode, then consider the following devotion driven discipleship conversation from Isaiah 12:1 as you "Seek Him Speak Him":********************I WILLS TO INSTILL:  I Will Give Thanks“On that day you will say:  ‘I will give thanks to you, Lord, although you were angry with me. Your anger has turned away, and you have comforted me.'” Isaiah 12:1 CSBSEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives! We live in a world of what we can't do, could do, might do, ought to do, or should do. However, as we begin a new year, let's talk about what we will do. This is about our deliberate desire to initiate action in our lives. Let's seek God about this, starting with the mindset, “I Will Give Thanks.”  WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture?  Isaiah 12:1 is a prophecy about how God's people will respond when Messiah begins to reign. Their first reaction will be to thank and praise God. ~ What is something you are determined to do this new year? Is Jesus in ruling in your life right now; why or why not? WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? Gratitude affects our perspective about everything, including how we see God. Sometimes God gets angry over things that should make us angry, too - things like dishonesty (Proverbs 11:1), injustice (Proverbs 17:15), and wickedness (Romans 1:18). We can focus on what we don't like about Him, or we can seek to understand Him and His ways. ~ Is there something about God that you don't like or understand? Is He doing anything in your life right now for which you can be thankful? Has He comforted you in any way?  HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? Scripture says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV). God's will is for us to focus our will on Him with thankfulness and gratitude. ~ What if this month we start each day intentionally thanking God for something? What can you thank God for right now? SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! A thankful heart is one that looks to see the blessings rather than the burdens, the miracles instead of the mess, God's Presence instead of the problems. What we “will to instill” in our own lives is what we can then instill into those entrusted to us. If you determine “I WILL Give Thanks” this new year, then let your grateful heart impact someone else today.© 2024 Tosha Lamdin Williams ______________________The Family Disciple Me ministry exists to catalyze devotion driven discipleship in our homes and around the world. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38–39 NLT)   One of my favorite verses in all of Scripture is Jeremiah 29:11. I quote it so often that some people might think I'm slightly obsessed with it. It says, “I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (NKJV).   I like that verse so much that I had those words inscribed on the back of a watch that I gave my son Christopher for his twenty-first birthday. Years later, Christopher went to be with the Lord after a tragic accident.   After he died, I was given a little plastic bag that contained his belongings. In it were his wallet, his keys, and his watch. I took the watch out, held it in my hand, flipped it over, and saw the inscription. “I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” And I thought, Where's the future for Christopher? Where's the future for me?   I had to remind myself that it's not all about our life on earth. Our ultimate future is in Heaven. That's where it all comes together. As Christians, we're in a win-win situation. Paul wrote in Philippians 1:21, “For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better” (NLT).   Paul knew that whether we're alive here on this Earth or in Heaven with Christ, God's love for us is certain. Paul wrote, “I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow” (Romans 8:38 NLT). We can be thankful for whatever tomorrow may bring because we know we are loved by our Creator. “Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord” (verse 39 NLT).   Knowing that we don't need to worry about our future because we are loved by God gives us the perspective we need to face the trials and adversity of this life. In 2 Corinthians 4:17, Paul wrote, “For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!” (NLT). Instead of focusing on the troubles we see right now, we can look forward to what we can't see yet. The troubles we see now will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.   Let's give thanks today that we don't have to be filled with fear, worry, and anxiety about what the future holds. We can be of good courage and good cheer because God is with us and our future with Him is certain. — Listen to the Greg Laurie Podcast Become a Harvest PartnerSupport the show: https://harvest.org/supportSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Give Thanks for the Holy Spirit | Galatians 5:22–23

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! (Galatians 5:22–23 NLT)   The mood of John 14 was somber. Jesus was preparing His disciples for His departure. They were understandably dejected and upset. Jesus lifted their spirits with a promise: “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you” (verses 16–17 NLT). In other words, hang on. Something big is coming. God's going to send the gift of the Holy Spirit.   In the Book of Acts, we see the fulfillment of Jesus' promise. We see the powerful working of the Holy Spirit in the lives of ordinary people just like you and me. Ordinary people were able to do extraordinary things because they possessed a power beyond themselves. They possessed the power of the Holy Spirit.   Some people say it's really hard to be a Christian. I disagree. I say it's impossible to live the Christian life. It's impossible without the empowerment and help of the Holy Spirit. We need His power in our lives. We can't live the Christian life with only our own willpower. We live it with the Holy Spirit's power working in us. In Philippians 2:12–13, Paul says, “Work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose” (NIV). So we do our part, but ultimately, it's the Holy Spirit who does the work through us.   Jesus said, “Apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5 NLT). But Paul said, “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13 NLT). With our power and strength, we can't overcome anything. With the Holy Spirit's power and strength, we can do all things through Christ.   The Holy Spirit doesn't just empower us; He also changes us. They say if you live with someone long enough, you start to take on some of their characteristics. That's certainly true of the Holy Spirit, who lives inside all believers. His presence plants spiritual seeds in us. If we nurture them, they produce fruit for everyone to enjoy, including love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities make us better servants of Christ and better people. They draw others to us and open doors for sharing our faith.   One of the amazing truths about the Holy Spirit is that we can be filled with Him again and again and again. Every morning when we wake up, before our feet even hit the floor, we can pray, “Lord, fill me with the Holy Spirit today.” And He will grant our request.   We give thanks today for God's Holy Spirit, who empowers us, guides us, produces fruit in our lives, and never leaves us. — Listen to the Greg Laurie Podcast Become a Harvest PartnerSupport the show: https://harvest.org/supportSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Our heavenly Father is the ultimate source of every good thing in our lives—and that alone should be reason enough to give thanks.
