Relying on God
Romans 8 is the chapter of Christian assurance. The chapter begins with “no condemnation.” There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. No condemnation now or any time in the future. God’s verdict of acquittal in justification is a verdict that is irreversible. Then, at the end of the chapter, we find that there is “no separation.” There is no separation from the persisting love of God which is in Christ — no condemnation and no separation from the love of Christ. Paul is clearly ministering to people who needed that kind of assurance. In light of the circumstances and situations of the Roman believers, there appears to have risen some questions about the sufficiency of God to handle such a threatening world. Paul responds with more than just general words of encouragement. He brings them to the height of Christian doctrine and truth in the love of God demonstrated in Christ. Some of you are facing circumstances and situations that are leading you to a similar place of insecurity and fear. Is God totally sufficient for my needs and situations? When no one else seems to understand, how can I be certain that God loves me and that I can trust Him? I pray that you will join us this weekend as Paul seeks to plumb the depths of God’s love demonstrated towards us in Christ. — Pastor Chad McDonald

At the end of the 8th chapter of Romans, Paul puts together a list of extremes to show us that absolutely nothing can get past the sovereignty of God to try to separate us from His love for us.
More broken than we know, more loved than we can comprehend. Welcome to the weekly sermon podcast of Grace Church Bellingham.
God's love and sovereignty, through Christ's work on the cross, show us that He provides the ultimate security for our future with Him.
Sunday, May 5, 2024 - Today marks the end of our study on "Identity" as described in Romans 8. Over the past 5 weeks, we have explored this topic in depth, and it is fitting to conclude with a message titled "The Identity of a Victor." To truly live out our identity, it is important first to accept the loving forgiveness of Jesus and then make daily choices that demonstrate our ever-growing love for Him by obeying His every command. As we are adopted into God's family, we also join Christ in His suffering to share in His glory. We eagerly anticipate the final step in our adoption when we receive our glorified bodies, free from sin and temptation. This is not a distant dream but a joyous promise that fills us with hope and excitement. We can celebrate this amazing grace as we worship and study today, knowing that nothing in this world can take away the promise of eternal life we have received through Christ.

Everyone loves to win. Some competitors take it to the extreme. Others are so paralyzed by fear of failure and losing that they never even compete. In Romans 8, the Apostle Paul wraps up the greatest chapter of the Bible by looking at the victory believers have in Christ. It is a victory that is assured and never in doubt.

Romans 8:31-39 is Paul’s conclusion, not just to the first thirty verses of chapter 8, but to the train of thought he’s been developing since chapter 5. He’s thoroughly explained the status and blessings that belong to those who are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, apart from the Law, and he concludes now with words of hope and encouragement regarding the love of God.

The love we experience in this world apart from God is fleeting. Even the strongest of earthly loves are ceased by death, however God's love is forever and nothing can separate a believer from it. Sermon Notes @ http://bible.com/events/29327955
“He loves, he loves me not.” Like the child pulling petals off the flower, we often doubt God’s love for us. When things are going badly in our life or when we feel guilty because of sin, we wonder…have I fallen out of God’s love? In our series finale be assured of God’s unending love. We have no need to fear opposition, deprivation, condemnation, tribulation, or separation.
Every Christian has great reason to be confident in the goodness and love of God towards them. God has been good to them in many ways throughout their life but ultimately God has demonstrated His goodness and love through the gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ. Jesus suffered and died for us. He was raised to life and is at the right hand of God the Father interceding for us in this moment. God has been good to us and He promises to be good to us. In this sermon Pastor Keith highlights the greater lesser logic of Romans 8:32, that if God gave us the greatest gift of His Son than we can be confident that He will also give us all things. God has been good to us by giving us salvation through the gospel, God will be good to us by the glorification that He has promised us and God is being good to us through the intercession that the Son and the Spirit are currently making for us. God is for us! Are you convinced and "sure" that He is for you and that nothing can separate you from His love?
What can separate the believer from God's love given in Jesus Christ? Paul argues that nothing can separate us. God justifies us and Christ is our intercessor. No trial in life can take us apart from God's love. (PLEASE NOTE, DUE TO A MIC PROBLEM AUDIO QUALITY IS SUBSTANDARD. LISTENERS MAY NEED TO TURN VOLUME UP)
Neither the accusations of others nor suffering can threaten our place in God’s loving family and its royal future.
