Pastor Blake explores the theme of God's unwavering support in the face of life's challenges, using Romans 8 to illustrate that nothing can separate us from God's love. He emphasizes that despite the struggles we face, such as car troubles or personal adversity, the evidence of God's love and care is reaffirmed through Christ's sacrifice and intercession. The pastor encourages us to recognize, receive, and rejoice in the good news of our salvation, highlighting that our identity as children of God means we are forever secure in His love. Ultimately, he calls us to not only embrace these truths but to share them with others, living in the hope that God is for us and that our best is still to come.

This past Sunday, Pastor Bob's sermon, "What You Can Be Certain of in 2025: God is For Us," based on Romans 8:31, reminded us of the profound assurance that if God is for us, no one can stand against us. He emphasized God's unwavering support, encouraging us to confidently declare, “God is for me,” even amidst challenges. Through Jesus' sacrifice, we are assured of God's love and provision, empowering us to live boldly. With Christ as our advocate, interceding on our behalf, we can face life's trials with confidence and certainty in our salvation.

This meditation gathers together several statements that confirm and remind us of the truths of being 'in Christ'. If we are made by God for doing good, given everything we need to accomplish what God has prepared already for us to do, might we then conclude that there is nothing that can keep us from doing it - except our own choices? It is our choice to trust and live in the belief that what God has planned can indeed be accomplished with and 'in Him'. Daylight Meditations is a daily podcast from CFO North America. During this second Sunday of Advent, we delve into the profound concept of being 'born again' as described in John 3. Far from being a mere emotional experience or adherence to strict moral codes, Jesus presents this rebirth as a complete reinvention of self, necessary for everyone regardless of their perceived righteousness. The conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus, a respected religious leader, serves as a poignant reminder that even those who seem most put-together need this radical change. We're challenged to consider where in our lives we've been striving for reinvention through our own efforts, only to find ourselves still in darkness. The good news is that this transformation comes from beyond us, changes how we see the world, and gives us a new identity rooted in God's love. As we position ourselves to receive this new life, we're invited to let go of our anxious grasping and trust in the work of God within us.
It is time this very minute to pray and seek God. Time to set our timers and pray for the minute. This podcast encourages us to stop for a minute and, now, in the presence of our Heavenly Father—with praise and prayer—worship Him in Jesus' name and in the power of the Holy Spirit. ———— *We do not own the rights to music played on this podcast.
Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. We read in this verse the goal of Jesus' mission on earth—to perfect all those whom the Father gave to Him once and for all time through the offering of Himself to die in their stead. Let's talk about the encouragements we have to live to love found in this verse today. First, one offering. You and I have nothing to offer God that could merit God's favor and love. God knew we were helpless and hopeless. All praise to God, who is righteous, merciful, and gracious. Second, He has perfected us. All that God requires of us, He has provided for us in Christ. In love, Jesus has made us perfect and presented us to His Father. The work is done. There's nothing we can add to His work. Stand in awe of the beauty and loveliness of Jesus' work. Third, He perfected us for all time. God knew that we could not right ourselves if we just had more time. Let us not live under the delusion that with time, we can improve ourselves or do something that brings God pleasure so as to merit entrance into heaven when we die. Most people think good people go to heaven, which is partially true. Only good people, perfect people, go to heaven. The reality is that none of us is good. Jesus' offering made us good, made us perfect, so we have an eternal hope and access to heaven now through Him. Fourth, Jesus' offering wasn't for everyone; it was only for those who are sanctified. Who are the sanctified? Jesus identified them in His prayer recorded in John 17:2. “Even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.” So the sanctified are those set apart from the world and given to Jesus by the Father. Romans 8:29-31 reveals this amazing work of God on behalf of those He sanctified. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? How do you know if you have been sanctified, set apart for Jesus to perfect? How do you know God is for you? There is a day of power when God extends the righteous scepter toward you. Your sanctification is revealed to you in the day He sends the Holy Spirit into your heart, and you believe in Jesus' offering as your only hope of salvation and access to God. As Paul wrote to the Romans in 1:17. The power of the gospel is for all who believe. "For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.'" This concept of sanctification is conveyed in John 14:20. “In that day [the day the Holy Spirit is sent into your heart], you will know that I am in the Father, and you in Me, and I in you.” The Spirit's presence in you means you are sanctified and perfected by Jesus' offering once and for all time. How do you know that the Spirit dwells in you? You receive and see Jesus' faith and love in your life. That's living to love with Jesus. So what shall we say to these things? God is for us! Isn't that encouraging?!

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Reflecting on the stubbornness of the Israelites' hearts from today's readings, Fr. Mike teaches us that we cannot always trust our imperfect hearts, because they are not always aligned God's law and will, and they can often lead us into false worship. However, we can rely on God who promises to give us a new heart so that we can do what we ought. Today's readings are Jeremiah 7, Ezekiel 36, and Proverbs 14:29-32.
