Romans : The Power of Grace | Week 18: God Is For Us, Jesus Loves Us | Jerry Gillis
Romans 8 ends with some of the most quoted verses in the entire Bible — but familiarity doesn't always mean understanding. In this week's message, we take a close, honest look at what Paul actually means when he writes that "all things work together for good" and what it truly looks like to be "more than conquerors."We sit with the gap between the promises we hold and the circumstances we live — and discover that the problem isn't the promise. It's the definition of good we've been working from.

It may be that every accusation we hear from the outside world or suspect inwardly is real. Romans 8 will show us that the charges may be real, but they are no longer relevant because the verdict has been handed out and the punishment paid by Jesus. This passage will compel us to live in light of the case being closed, and our lives being transformed by divine favour.

Romans 8:31-32 (NKJV) What then shall we say to these things? IF GOD IS FOR US, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up FOR US all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? MSG, With GOD ON OUR SIDE like this, how can we lose? IF GOD IS FOR US! We don't have to earn His approval. Don't forget the Lord commanded His love for us while we were still sinners.
Nothing can defeat you, deprive you, condemn you, or separate you from God's love.

Romans 8:31-32 (NKJV) What then shall we say to these things? IF GOD IS FOR US, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up FOR US all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Here's the thing, the “IF” of If GOD IS FOR US, all hinges on us actually believing that what His words says is true.
v.37, God has made us to be more than conquerors IN HIM. (Hypernikao) super victorious, confidently overpowering in victory in Christ. Why would He do this? Because, whom He PREDESTINED, He also called; whom He CALLED, He also JUSTIFIED; and whom He justified, He also GLORIFIED.
Jesus is a sure and steadfast anchor who holds you steady in life's storms (Hebrews 6:19-20). In Romans 8:31–39, Paul stacks up a series of rhetorical questions to drive home a settled assurance: God has proved he is for his people by not sparing his own Son. Even when real opposition comes, and even when the accuser brings true charges, the verdict for those in Christ is already in: you're free and clear because God has justified you, Jesus died and was raised for you, and he now intercedes as an advocate for you. So what could possibly separate you from the love of Christ? — Nothing! God proved he is for us, satisfied every charge against us, and nothing in creation can undo it.
Luke 24:1-48
What if the deepest question in your life isn't about how well things are going, but whether God is for you?In Romans 8:31–39, the Apostle Paul brings everything together and answers that question with force. Because of the death and resurrection of Jesus, God is not distant, neutral, or uncertain toward His people—He is decisively, eternally, and unapologetically for them.If God has already given His Son to cover your sin, what could possibly stand against you?And if nothing can separate you from His love, what are you still afraid of? Whether you're exploring faith or have followed Jesus for years, this sermon calls you to stop holding back and trust fully in the God who has already moved toward you. 5 Things You'll Learn· How you can know for sure that God is truly for you.· What the resurrection proves about your standing before God. · Why can no accusation or condemnation ultimately stick to those in Christ?· What it actually means to be “more than a conqueror.”· If nothing can separate you from God's love, what are you still afraid of?

This week, Pastor Ulysses continues our series through the book of Romans with another message from chapter 8. In this passage, Paul points us to the unshakable confidence we have in God's love. Even in the face of suffering, opposition, or uncertainty, we're reminded that nothing can ultimately stand against God's purposes for His people or separate us from His love.

What does “if God is for us, who can be against us” mean? What is the meaning of Romans 8:31?
By Paul Moody - Romans 8 is rich with encouragement for our Christian walk. It reminds us of God's great love—that He gave everything, even His own Son, so that we might have life. While we are called to faithfully do our part, we can fully trust that God has already done, and continues to do, everything necessary
If God is for us, who can be against us? Dr. John Neufeld explores Isaiah 43:1-7, where God speaks tenderly to His rebellious people: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; you are mine." Despite Israel's blindness and coming judgment, God promises they will not drown in the waters or be consumed by fire—He would even exchange nations as ransom for His chosen people. This unbreakable covenant love extends beyond Israel to all who are called by His name through the Messiah, gathered from the ends of the earth for His glory.God and the World's Idols: What are you really worshipping? In this series through Isaiah 40–44, Dr. John Neufeld explores one of Scripture's most powerful confrontations between the living God and the idols humanity creates. Writing to a nation facing exile and questioning whether their God has abandoned them, Isaiah paints a stunning portrait of who God truly is — His wisdom that needs no counsel, His power that never grows weary, His sovereignty over history itself.
This meditation gathers together several statements that confirm and remind us of the truths of being 'in Christ'. If we are made by God for doing good, given everything we need to accomplish what God has prepared already for us to do, might we then conclude that there is nothing that can keep us from doing it - except our own choices? It is our choice to trust and live in the belief that what God has planned can indeed be accomplished with and 'in Him'.Daylight Meditations is a daily podcast from CFO North America. In the birth of Jesus, we see once and for all that God is for us—not against us.

Romans 8:31 — “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Paul starts a new subsection in his letter to the Romans by claiming this promise. In this sermon on Romans 8:31 titled “God is for Us,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones unpacks this promise showing how Christians can truly rest in this absolute truth. There is not a matter of “if” or “but;” it is absolute certainty that the Lord is on the side of His children. By opening this new subsection, Paul is about to answer potential questions that may arise from his previous teaching. Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones outlines several questions that Paul is going to answer before they cause dissention among the Romans. Paul brings this great doctrine in the scheme of ordinary, everyday lives. This one verse is once again proving Paul's point that Christians have been saved and their salvation is secure in Jesus Christ. Because of that union with Christ, they have the Holy Spirit working in them and helping them toward future glory. This affirms that the Lord is in fact for the believer so there is no other power, circumstance, or person that could ever truly overcome them. Dr. Lloyd-Jones explains this in great detail and tells Christians to rest assured in this great promise. Jesus said, "He who is not with me is against me." But sometimes our faith may grow weak in the face of suffering and hardship, and we may wonder if God is really with us or against us. No matter what you face in life, you can rest with a quiet confidence in Jesus Christ and cling to the glorious declation that God is indeed for you now and forever. Life can feel unsteady, and we're all looking for something solid to hold onto. But what if the strength we need doesn't come from holding on tighter, but from being rooted in something that lasts?
Paul began the great chapter eight of Romans with this most glorious announcement, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Having explained why those in Christ Jesus are not condemned, Paul ends this great chapter by assuring all those who are in Christ with two most glorious and precious truths: the first truth is that God is for us.
Arriving at the summit of Romans 8, what shall we say to all these things we've been discussing? Here's what we say: If God is for us, who can be against us?! // A message by Chris Hyatt.

Reflecting on the stubbornness of the Israelites' hearts from today's readings, Fr. Mike teaches us that we cannot always trust our imperfect hearts, because they are not always aligned God's law and will, and they can often lead us into false worship. However, we can rely on God who promises to give us a new heart so that we can do what we ought. Today's readings are Jeremiah 7, Ezekiel 36, and Proverbs 14:29-32.
