It was an absolute pleasure to talk to Tom and to learn about his life story so far. He tells us about his childhood growing up on a farm in Zimbabwe and his travels around world. He worked on a super yacht in Southeast Asia as a dive instructor and got on really well with the Irish doctors onboard the boat. For that reason, he decided to change his scenery completely and move to Dublin as he thought he might really enjoy it. He began studying law here in Ireland (and apparently really enjoys Irish law!) and is now working as a barrister. He's a great character and I must say that this one is well worth the watch. The upper air burst into life! And a hundred fire-flags sheen, To and fro they were hurried about! And to and fro, and in and out, The wan stars danced between. And the coming wind did roar more loud, And the sails did sigh like sedge, And the rain poured down from one black cloud; The Moon was at its edge. The thick black cloud was cleft, and still The Moon was at its side: Like waters shot from some high crag, The lightning fell with never a jag, A river steep and wide. --- You can find the Ancient Mariner Big Read here: https://www.ancientmarinerbigread.com/ --- Copyright: The Arts Institute, University of Plymouth. Happy New Now folks! We are bringing you a very special treat for your senses in this episode. The Fianna were lead by the great warrior Fionn Mac Cumhaill. And he had the wisdom of this world and the next. He had burnt his thumb on the Salmon of Knowledge when he was young, and in this short story, he imparts a beautifully simplistic message that we want to share with you. In this episode, Aron talks to the third founding member of Candlelit Tales, Ru O’Shea. Ru brought the music to CT back in 2014 when we started off in the Stags Head so long ago (feels like yesterday… dang timey wimey). And since then Ru has been on an epic journey of discovery himself. He has trained to become a music teacher and become a trained sound practitioner, as well as continuously performing with us as both a musician (of many instruments) and as a Storyteller in our live shows as well. We speak about sound, the therapeutic nature of it and our upcoming Storytelling and Sound Bath experience. Jonathon’s expertise on beer, sword fighting, and construction is unmatched by any of the episodes other co-hosts: Ian “Apple Weed” McAnsh, Tommy “Brew Papa” Green, and Emily “Life Line” Trimnal. The four of us shared a growler from Fonta Flora Brewery of Morganton. Western North Carolina will soon lay claim to a farm house brewery! Say What?
It’s my first live PodaRooney! It was a cold dark winter evening all of three weeks ago in a cosy little room upstairs in The Stags Head that PodaRooney history was made. I was as sick as a dog from one of those inevitable flus that you have to get every Irish winter when your […] La entrada Episode 41 – Live from The Stag’s Head se publicó primero en Headstuff.
