What if you could awaken to a deeper relationship with God? Dimitri Moraitis answers that very question - After an extraordinary awakening, he shares his journey of deep transition from learning, to becoming a master teacher, to serve others in their own spiritual growth. "In pursuing the spiritual path, you are both a scientist in the detail and attention you need to succeed and an artist in your creative expression of unfolding your soul's potential..." As co-founder of The Spiritual Arts Center with clairvoyant Barbara Y. Martin, Dimitri shares his passion for truth, bringing Eastern and Western Philosophies together, and the cycles of reincarnation, that brought us to where we are today. This is an enlightening episode for the God Seeker in you. About Dimitri Moraitis: Co-founder and co-spiritual director of Spiritual Arts Institute, Dimitri has been instrumental in bringing Spiritual Arts Institute to the place it is today as a premier metaphysical school. With Barbara, he is co-author of the international bestseller Change Your Aura, Change Your Life, Communing with the Divine, Karma and Reincarnation, The Healing Power of Your Aura and their newest book Heaven and Your Spiritual Evolution (release date, October 2021). He is an eloquent speaker on a wide variety of spiritual topics, has lectured across the country, appeared on numerous radio shows and leads the workshops and training classes offered at the Institute with Barbara. Years later, Barbara and Dimitri broke new ground with the publication of Change Your Aura Change Your Life, first in a series of mystical writings. This led to their founding Spiritual Arts Institute and Dimitri becoming a spiritual teacher. At first supporting the encyclopedic wisdom of Barbara, now through his own spiritual connection, Dimitri is an illumined teacher contributing new inspiration to the spiritual wisdom in books, workshops and course materials. Originally trained in motion pictures and television, Dimitri was pursuing a promising career in directing and producing, having received an Academy Award nomination for his film short Don't Let It Bother You. When he was twenty-five, Dimitri had a profound spiritual awakening that changed his life. About a year later, he met Barbara at a dinner party and knew that night Barbara was the spiritual teacher he had to study with. Barbara trained Dimitri in metaphysics as well as getting him involved in her spiritual mission. Following the mystery school lineage tradition, Barbara saw in him the person who was meant to help her bring the Kingdom of Light Teachings to the world and lead the spiritual mission beyond her tenure. Dimitri realized this was his spiritual purpose and redirected his life's work to pursue the path of metaphysics. www.spiritarts.org Host of Awakened: Brad Szollose --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/awakenednation/support

For 50 years, the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute has played a vital role in fostering the talent of African American artists and performers here in Seattle. Visitors to the Central-District based arts center - many of whom live in the neighborhood - might stroll over to watch the teen summer musical, take a dance class, or tour an art exhibit. KUOW arts and culture reporter Mike Davis sat down with some of the key members behind the organization.

Transformed by a 1960s urban relief program, the former synagogue has fostered generations of Black artists even as the neighborhood around it changes. For the first half of the 20th century, the building at the southeast corner of 17th Avenue South and East Yesler Way in Seattle's Central District housed a Jewish synagogue. But by the late '60s, the neighborhood demographics looked much different, and fighting urban poverty had become a government priority. This, combined with the vision and effort of local citizens, gave the building a second life as Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute. Federal money from the Model Cities Program helped the majority-Black Central District create a community hub and creative outlet for themselves. In the 50 years since, that hub has served as much more than just an arts space for generations of Black Seattle. And it has also continued to give young people a space to find and explore their artistic passion. But the Central District is significantly less Black now than it was back when the institute first opened in 1972. So the venue, now operated by the nonprofit LANGSTON, had to change to meet the needs of Black people displaced across King and Pierce counties while also fighting to stay a Black space. It was a battle worth fighting because, for many Black people in and around Seattle, that former synagogue is too important to lose. For this episode of the Black Arts Legacies podcast, host Brooklyn Jamerson-Flowers explores the origins of Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute and speaks to several artists who found a platform for authentic expression there. They each help to frame the institute's importance and visions of its future. 'Hold off! unhand me, grey-beard loon!' Eftsoons his hand dropt he. He holds him with his glittering eye— The Wedding-Guest stood still, And listens like a three years' child: The Mariner hath his will. The Wedding-Guest sat on a stone: He cannot choose but hear; And thus spake on that ancient man, The bright-eyed Mariner. --- You can find the Ancient Mariner Big Read here: https://www.ancientmarinerbigread.com/ --- Copyright: The Arts Institute, University of Plymouth. Clyde McCulley was the director of a School of Art and Arts Institute and was a Professor of art for several Colleges but after 20 years he left and discovered he had a goal of changing his life perhaps graphically using the written word but in the form of writing and publishing. Having always used painting and photography as his creative outlet personally and professionally, Clyde had the urge to try a new way of creating.  His children had been asking him to write a book about the stories he had told them when they were children. In his late seventies, that is what this creative gentleman decided to do, and is now loving every minute of it beginning with writing about his childhood growing up. ‘The Boy on Shady Grove Road’ was the result.  The last of six kids in a poor family, in a poor community, on a poor farm, with poor soil in the backwoods of Arkansas following World War II in the 1950s in the segregated South his creative endeavours with words flourished.  Clyde is now writing more books and found this endeavour enormously fulfilling and with his website he is receiving hundreds of emails from people keen to know more ‘real’ stories and learn how to do the same. Clyde’s website name mamaswhitegravy is a wonderful story about his Grandma. Throughout the interview guest Clyde and Host Diana discuss how to write a book when you don’t know how to write one, as well there are many wonderful tips for would be writers and is why this Podcast is well worth listening to.

And I identify as a journalist, to be clear, but one of the reasons I often don’t engage in that conversation—when someone throws that back at me I kind of deflect a little bit—is that I think there’s some real fallacy in there. I think that every journalist should be an activist for transparency, for accountability—certainly amongst our government, for first amendment rights. There are things that by our nature of what we do we should be extremely activist.” Thanks to MailChimp, Harry’s, Casper, and School of the Arts Institute of Chicago for sponsoring this week's episode. @WesleyLowery [03:15] Detroit Free Press [03:15] The Plain Dealer [03:15] North Jersey [03:15] Diversity Inc.
