Columbia Police have identified the seven people arrested for this weekend's chaotic fights downtown near Ninth and East Walnut. Six of the seven are from Columbia and they range in age from 18 to 57. The fights started Sunday morning at about 1:30. One of the seven arrested, 21-year-old Tinoz'shia Harris of Columbia, is accused of assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. Missouri voters approved a constitutional amendment in 1984 that created the tax, which is earmarked specifically for the state park system and efforts to stop soil erosion. Missouri's governor has signed legislation from State Sen. Jamie Burger (R-Benton) into law that allows speed limits to be raised to 75 mph on some rural highways. State Rep. David Tyson Smith (D-Columbia) is not opposed to the idea but is concerned with the timing.
