But is He living, personal, relational, good, and loving? According to Calvinism… also no. Today, Dominic Enyart is joined on air by Chris Fisher, to discuss God's attributes, specifically those He shares with King David. These attributes aren't ones that Calvinists will readily acknowledge, though they're seen in Scripture plain as day. We see that both Christ and David disregard popular opinion, and have a strong sense of integrity. Also, they are both: -Attractive -Bold -Unapologetic -Confident -Impulsive -Loyal -Intense -Passionate -Clever -Brilliant We encourage you to check out the Reality is Not Optional YouTube channel, get God is Open book (as either a paperback or ebook) and check out the God is Open website and Facebook group (Open Theists only! ;) Today's Resource: God's Biblical Attributes You may have been told that the five primary attributes of God are immutability, impassibility, omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience. We refer to these as the Greek and Latin philosophical OMNIs and IMs. They are quantitative. However, the actual five biblical attributes of God are that He is living, personal, relational, good and loving. These are qualitative. And as we will see, quality trumps quantity. We know that "pretty privilege" can affect everything from who society deems worthy of sex and intimacy all the way to who gets promotions, housing and friends. But it's not as obvious as with other forms of inequities what we should do about it. We can pretty much agree that everyone deserves housing and healthcare but attraction by definition requires another person to be attracted to you, and we can't force people to be attracted to each other. It's also a unique form of privilege because it is more changeable than a trait like race or gender. We talk with Hina Wilkerson, a member of the Salted Logic media collective, to talk about all of this and why we don't talk about it. It's a conversation that teeters between being exciting and edgy and also dark because it encompasses funny topics like Chads hitting on you at the gym all the way to rape, pedophilia, murder, and missing women. And when you are on the "low" end of the desirability spectrum, the stakes can be pretty high. We already live in a society of ever-growing alienation, social anxiety, and isolation that is being fueled by social media and whether people find you attractive can be the difference between hugely opposite reactions, from revulsion to your creepiness, to elation that someone is sexually interested in you and you have no way of knowing how someone will react, which is why flirting is such a dangerous game. Especially as society at large is moving in a direction to be more pro-kink and pro-fetish, we also get into how this interacts with what we allow ourselves to be "into" and whether we should be questioning that, and when that questioning verges into shaming. No spoilers, but raceplay and virginlust are inevitably mentioned. Earlier this month the government announced it will extend the storage limit for those freezing their egg cells from 10 to 55 years. Over the past decade there has been a rapid growth in egg freezing, reaching 2,400 cycles in 2019, and the new rules will allow more freedom in choosing when to freeze – and unfreeze. But, as an expensive, invasive and often unsuccessful procedure, it certainly isn't the fertility-preserving guarantee that most wish for. Shivani Dave asks if the process is really worth it for those wanting to conceive at a later date. Help support our independent journalism at theguardian.com/sciencepod

Marni and Chris get together to discuss what insane people do when they are dating that they don't think they do. After watching the double episode of Bachelor in Paradise, Marni took away the obvious dating lessons to share. If you think the way to get a quality guy is to be the ‘cool girl' or you are afraid to commit because you don't want to miss out, there are great lessons for you in this episode. Key takeaways from this episode: Why to Date Multiple People Simultaneously Break Patterns of Self-Sabotage Being Resilient in Dating Confidence is Attractive What Makes 40 Year Old Kenny So Desirable? [2:13] What makes Kenny the most desirable guy in this group? Kenny is 40 and relatively mature. Chris thinks all the chicks are fighting over him because he seems to be comfortable in his own skin. Kenny is dating with dignity. He is not doing douche-baggy things. He makes it clear he is ready for a long-term relationship. Mari tells Kenny she wants to date other people. He responds by telling her he will be doing the same. And, while dating multiple people at the same time is dignified and can help you figure out who will make a good partner. The way Mari delivered the message left a lot to be desired. Kenny is dating multiple people at the same time to find a long-term partner. Marni says if you are afraid to commit and are dating someone who has self-worth, when you tell the other person you want to see other people, you should mean it. A person who has self-worth, like Kenny, will not take it personally and do what you suggest. Kenny slept with Demi shortly after Mari spoke with him. Quality Guys Get Bored When You Self-Sabotage [20:07] If you have a pattern of sabotaging your relationships, it is likely guys you are dating will become disinterested. Consider if you are putting all of your cards on the table, or whether you make it too hard for him to take things to the next level. He might just get bored and find someone else who is easy to date. Abigail is an example of someone who doesn't open up and reciprocate feelings. She admits to being a self-sabotager but she can't seem to break the pattern. Noah says he will try to break down her walls but after a while, he will become disinterested. It is tragic. How to Be Resilient in Dating [29:28] Aaron displays a great example of resilience after Tammy dumps him. Even though he was really bummed out he did not let it impact his ability to stay true to his goal. He didn't take it personally, he didn't go into victim, and he shifted his energy. If someone informs you they want to stop dating, give yourself time to be bummed out but get over it. Stay in the game and make another connection. #219--Anatomy of a Murder (1959). Welcome to Working Title where we four intrepid, handsome, intelligent, and legally unqualified reviewers judge this film and litigate about controversial topics like: "Are lawyer's actually snakes?"
Pollinator gardens have rapidly increased in popularity, but unfortunately, there hasn't been a lot of research on the best ways to create those gardens or on how effective those gardens really are. Happily, that's beginning to change. More and more scientists are beginning to tackle those types of questions in order to help us better manage and protect the pollinators in our built environments. In this episode of the Backyard Ecology Podcast, we talk with Travis Watson. Travis is the Horticulture Manager at East Tennessee State University. He also recently completed his thesis research on the types of factors make pollinator gardens more attractive to pollinators. Travis and I talk about his research and some of his findings that stood out. One of potentially the most comforting findings to many people is that size didn't really matter. His largest study sites had proportionately the same number of insect pollinators as his smallest study sites. The types of pollinators present may have changed, but overall insect abundance was proportionally similar between all sites. This means that no matter how small your property is, you can still do something to support pollinators. Another key finding in his research was the importance of floral diversity. Having diverse flower families, species, colors, shapes, sizes, and bloom times all contributed to greater pollinator diversity and attractiveness. Travis attributes this to the fact that with greater floral diversity, the odds increase that you'll be “inviting a pollinator specialist to the table” without excluding any of the generalist species that would be there anyways. However, we also discuss that this shouldn't be taken to the extreme of trying to plant a single individual of a bunch of different species. You still need multiples of each species. As with most things in life, it is important to find that happy medium. Our conversation covers a wide range of other topics related to his research and ways that we can apply his findings in our own gardens and yards. We end with him offering suggestions for other ways that you can get involved and make a difference, even if you don't have land of your own. Today, we will break down Wyndham Hotels, the world's largest and most diverse hotel franchisor with more than 9,000 hotels across 20 brands in over 80 countries. Wyndham is a brilliant example of a ubiquitous business that often goes unnoticed. In this breakdown, we'll start by looking at just how vast Wyndham's portfolio of hotels and brands is, how the Highway Act of 1956 played an important role in developing that scale, and explore the economics of hotel ownership, both from the franchisee and franchisor's perspective. Then we'll dive into Wyndham's growth algorithm, the factors that make the business resilient to external shocks, and the ways in which green programs are helping to drive higher cash-on-cash returns for franchisees. To help break down Wyndham Hotels, host Patrick O'Shaughnessy is joined by Lauren Taylor Wolfe, co-founder and Managing Partner of Impactive Capital and a Wyndham shareholder.
