After months of uncertainty and a nationwide campaign to protect the role of Special Needs Assistants, the Save Our SNAs Campaign Group is welcoming the publication of a new Department of Education circular outlining the role of SNAs in schools. The updated guidance replaces a previous circular that sparked concern among SNAs, parents and educators, with fears that the role could be restricted and that some children with additional needs could lose out on vital support. Campaigners say the new circular represents an important step forward, particularly with the explicit recognition of students' communication and regulation needs. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology recently captured on a camera pointed at the Mayon Volcano a greenish meteor dropping near it. Seconds after the fireball dropped, a UFO appeared where the object fell and slowly rose into the sky until disappearing off frame. The appearance of the UFO is similar to what was reported after a “meteor” dropped into the backyard of a Las Vegas family in 2023. Life is a series of ups and downs for all of us.  We have no choice about where and into what era we're born, who we will encounter throughout our lives, and what circumstances we may face.  Our navigation system APPEARS to be the thoughts we have about life, but it isn't.  Thoughts are the ideas and images we bring to mind, sometimes intentionally, sometimes randomly.  But the feelings engendered by our thoughts are the true navigation system.  What we make of our thoughts, how seriously we take them, whether we recognize negative thoughts as red flags, matters.  When negative thoughts and feelings appear to be important and meaningful --  things we must take seriously and deal with -- we slip into a downward spiral unintentionally.  When we wake up and remember negative thoughts and feelings are Caution signs on the road of life, we can slow down, quiet our minds, allow those thoughts to pass, and soon we get fresh ideas and a better perspective.  We pass through "thought storms" just like travelers on a road trip pass through thunderstorms.  The same advice works: slow down, trust yourself to get through it, and soon you'll see the sun again.Support the show

When it comes to the phenomenon that is consciousness, there is one point on which scientists, philosophers, and artists all agree: it feels like something to be us. Yet the fact that we have a subjective experience of the world remains one of nature's greatest mysteries. How is it that our mental operations are accompanied by feelings, thoughts, and a sense of self? What would a scientific investigation of our inner life look like when we have as little distance and perspective on it as fish do of the sea?
