What's really happening behind the scenes of the motorhome industry, and what does it mean for buyers, owners and anyone thinking about their next campervan? Motorhome Matt and Keith Gooden are joined by industry experts Peter Vaughan and Tom Lower for an honest discussion on changing buying habits, rising prices, panel van conversions versus coachbuilt motorhomes, and the accessories that are genuinely worth your money. Is the market shifting, are motorhomes becoming too expensive, and which trends are here to stay? Tune in to hear the conversations happening inside the industry, not just on the forecourt. Plus, VanLove Festival is almost here. Matt shares what to expect from the event at Thruxton, including live podcasts, talks, music, That Leisure Shop, a parade lap of motorhomes and a go-kart challenge with no other than The Stig.
Jon Summers and co-host Mark Gammie discuss the British Touring Car Championship with a focus on its 1990s peak, while placing it in historical context from early British saloon car racing through eras featuring cars like the Ford Galaxie, Lotus Cortina, Vauxhall “Big Bertha/Baby Bertha,” Capris and Rover SD1s. They recall late-1980s/early-1990s battles between Sierra Cosworths and BMW E30 M3s, the excitement of Murray Walker's commentary, and BTCC's NASCAR-like contact on narrow UK club circuits such as Brands Hatch, Donington, Thruxton, Cadwell Park, Knockhill, and Snetterton. They cover the two-liter, 8,000-rpm formula, heavy manufacturer involvement, memorable moments involving Tarquini, Mansell, and Plato, the influence of the TOCA Touring Car video game, and how rising costs and aero/regulation changes reduced factory participation and spectator interest after 2000. ===== (Oo---x---oO) ===== 00:00 BTCC Origins and NASCAR Parallel 02:54 Jack Sears and the Ford Galaxie 05:56 Jerry Marshall and Vauxhall Berthas 09:38 Capris vs Rover SD1 + TV Era 13:22 First BTCC Memories Sierras and M3s 14:35 Murray Walker 16:27 Club Circuits Brands to Cadwell, Thruxton, and Goodwood 24:11 Nineties Contact and Iconic Crashes 26:12 F1 Cameos Chaos 27:02 TOCA Game Memories 27:33 BTCC Rules and Money: Why It Beat F1 33:47 Favorite Tracks And Cars 35:15 Renault Laguna Road Car Tales 41:20 Drivers And Skill Gap 43:53 Reg Creep And Decline 46:19 Everyman Cars, Taxi Driver, Wrap Up And Credits! ==================== The Motoring Podcast Network : Years of racing, wrenching and Motorsports experience brings together a top notch collection of knowledge, stories and information. #everyonehasastory #gtmbreakfix - motoringpodcast.net More Information: Visit Our Website Become a VIP at: Patreon Online Magazine: Gran Touring Follow us on Social: Instagram Jon Summers is the Motoring Historian. Radio TRO is brought to you in part by:Twisted Road - Motorcycle Rental in the USAVisit Twisted.TRO.bike to get a FREE riding day!Robin demands you read a massive article about GSX-8R valve checks beforehand, even if it hasn't been published yet. Apparently we should all spend our weekends measuring microscopic engine gaps instead of actually going somewhere. It's the ultimate bedtime story for nerds who think getting grease under their fingernails counts as a personality trait.Brian wandered into a dealership to ogle the new Triumph models and complain about people touching the merchandise. He drooled over the Thruxton 400 and its fancy half fairing while worrying about ancient immobilizer tech. Finally he watched a Fort Nine video that was more about feelings than motorcycles but liked it anyway.Joanne has decided she might actually ride her motorcycle alone for once, aiming for a week-long solo trip that avoids a rescue mission. She's also tackling the expensive elephant in the room by explaining how to replace your riding gear without spending ten grand. In this episode of Stories From SuperTouring, we look back to Thruxton 1995 - the meeting that had it all — chaos, controversy, and career-defining moments — and touring car journalist Andrew Charman was there to witness every second. From the horrifying, high-speed crash that sent Charlie Cox rolling through the Club chicane — a moment that stunned the paddock and redefined safety discussions — to the breakthrough victory for a young James Thompson, taking his first-ever BTCC win at just 21 years old, it was a race day no one could forget.Andrew shares his insider stories from the pits and paddock, the tension between teams, and the fierce on-track battles that typified the SuperTouring era. With the season barely underway, the intensity was already at full throttle — and Thruxton lit the fuse.Fast, raw, and unforgettable — join us as we rewind to one of the BTCC's most explosive weekends.

It is a bit of a different show this time around. Our broadcast colleague and producer Jim Roller is marooned in the basement of his home in North Carolina dealing with the recent devastation caused by Storm Helene. Consequently we are unable to bring you the intended podcast but instead Paul Jurd and Paul Tarsey sat down and reminisced about the racetracks of the UK mainland. Amongst their memories, Tarsey remembers his first ever motor sport outing to see the Silver Arrows demonstrated by Peter Collins and Tony Brooks at Oulton Park and PJ recalls Thruxton in the 1960s.

The best motorsport entertainment anywhere in the world last weekend was in the United Kingdom with BSB and BTCC British Super Bikes headed to Thruxton, whilst the British Touring Cars were north of the border at Knockhill, Scotland. While WSB records were broken in Portugal and a very dull NASCAR race exploded into controversy on the very last lap But before we go there, there was some epic rallying going on in Iceland where Paul joined the Defender Series for their gruelling Iceland Hill Rally!
