Hello and welcome again to the Motos and Friends Podcast. This episode is brought to you by Leod Escapes. My name is Arthur Coldwells. * * * * * Have you ever wanted to ride a real MotoGP track? Well, here's your chance! Leod Escapes does all sorts of amazing European tours, including the incredible Munich to Mugello tour at the end of June, or you can try the Core of Catalunya or the Portimão Andalusia trips, both in October. These are incredible touring experiences with the very best that Europe has to offer, as well as riding these amazing tracks on brand new BMW S1000RRs. So for the trip of a lifetime, visit LeodEscapes.com, now! * * * * * In our first segment, Nic de Sena tells us all about his recent trip to Spain to ride the new 2027 Suzuki GSX-R1000R. Suzuki did a slightly different spin on this particular launch where they split the journalists into teams of 3, and had a 6-hour endurance ‘race' to see how well everyone fared. Nic gives us the lowdown on what it's like to the new Gixxer and for such long track sessions! Rider Market from just outside Orlando, Florida, is the winner of the recent Royal Enfield BTR Build-Off competition in the Road Race category. Brian Koster is the Parts Director at Rider Market and he tells us briefly about the machine and parts he selected that made this retro-looking Royal Enfield stand out and take the trophy. Our guest for this episode is Brian Bentley. A few years ago, just prior to Covid, Brian had a chance to buy a Ducati 916. He's always been a major fan of the bike ever since it launched in the early nineties. He'd actually been looking for a 748 for a while, but when this great example came to his attention he couldn't resist. The only snag was that it was completely disassembled. So, Brian did what any reasonable bike-fanatic would do: he loaded all the endless boxes of parts into the trunk of his SUV, headed home to Daytona Beach, and started the build. Brian recounts the story of this incredible machine and what eventually happened to it in the end. * * * * * Here's quick reminder to check out our monthly digital magazine. It's filled with everything you want to read on motorcycling, including some things you've probably not seen elsewhere. It's absolutely free and you will find it on the Apple App Store and of course on Google Play as well. Everybody—everybody—has an opinion on Harley-Davidson. The company, who's stock, not so many years ago, was a safer bet than gold, has fallen upon challenging times. This from a company—according to analyst Michael Uhlarik—that in its heyday turned a profit of nearly 30 percent on each motorcycle sold, when the industry average is nearer the mid-single digits. In the fat years, Harley-Davidson was indeed a license to print money. But no more. Past Harley CEO's have tried seemingly everything the right the ship. There's been the re-wire, the hardwire and the cut-the-wire-in-two. As much fun as speculating on the future of Harley is, this week on the show we speak to someone with skin in the game. A Harley Dealer. George Gatto owns Three Rivers Harley-Davidson near Pittsburgh. Gatto also runs Gatto Cycle, a Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, CF Moto and Royal Enfield dealership. On top of all this, Gotto chairs the National Powersports Dealers Association Harley-Davidson dealer council. He's a busy man. With a bad back. But he made time for us—and we're chuffed. This episode is brought to you by Daytona Bike Week and hosted by Arthur Coldwells. * * * * * Teejay Adams recently rode the latest Honda NC750X DCT with Dual Clutch Transmission. This ADV-styled streetbike with its parallel-twin engine is perhaps easily overlooked, yet as with all Hondas it turned out to be remarkably capable. By the way…at $9,499 it's also surprisingly inexpensive, especially considering the incredible Honda technology that is packed into this fast and fun motorcycle. * * * * * We're almost upon the 85th Annual Daytona Beach Bike Week, definitely the event that you absolutely must not miss, especially if you've weathered the recent Arctic freeze. Yes! It's time to throw off the cold and visit sunny Florida! From February 27th to March 8th, the riding season starts in Daytona Beach, Florida. Legendary Bike Week rides include historic Main Street to Midtown; the scenic A1A Highway; and the Ormond Beach Scenic Loop. If you love racing then Daytona International Speedway has a jam-packed schedule: The 56th annual Daytona Supercross; the Progressive American Flat Track; Daytona Short Track; and of course the historic Daytona 200. And while you're there, don't forget to visit Teddy Morse's Daytona Harley-Davidson, the U.S. 1 corridors, and the rest of Volusia County. For information about Daytona Beach Bike Week including lodging, events, vendors, parking and more, go to OfficialBikeWeek.com * * * * * Have you heard the latest news from Insta360 about the new Ace Pro 2 Supercross Edition bundle? It's an awesome partnership between Insta360 and the SMX World Championship, created with world champion Jett Lawrence. The bundle features the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 action camera. It includes 8K AI-powered video, a large sensor and Leica lens creating 4K 60fps video. It also has a PureVideo Mode for low light conditions. It's waterproof, has a 180-minute battery that fast-charges, and it supports 1TB microSD cards. So head over to Insta360.com and use promo code ULTIMATE. * * * * * In this episode's snippet, I chat with Mike Wells of ‘Old Vintage Cranks', a Royal Enfield dealer in Ontario, Canada. Old Vintage Cranks recently won the Royal Enfield BTR Build-Off competition in the flat track category. The Royal Enfield Build-Off is a spin-off of the Build.Train.Race program, where dealers across North America created a dream version of either a road race or flat track motorcycle using the Royal Enfield INT650 as the base bike. Winning the flat track Build-Off is quite an accomplishment for Old Vintage Cranks, and Mike gives us some insight into what went into the build. Mike also gives a big shout out to Amanda of Black Widow Custom Paint for doing such an exemplary job, that no doubt helped them in their big win. * * * * * In the second segment this episode, Teejay chats with James Tonna of the newly launched Joe Rascal brand. James and his partner Barry Fitzpatrick launched Joe Rascal in August of last year, but they are already making serious headway with the acquisition of three Harley, and one Ducati, dealership in Melbourne, Australia. As if that wasn't remarkable enough, James has also created Joe Rascal Racing with three riders in the upcoming Baggers race series, during six of the MotoGP rounds this year. Joe Rascal also now has a Ducati Australian Supercross team, with others soon to follow. It seems their tagline “Go Joe Rascal fast” isn't just a catchy saying, ‘cos they're sure not wasting any time. * * * * * Here's a quick reminder to leave us your comments on our social media—we're on all the usual platforms at Ultimate Motorcycling. In the latest episode of the evo India podcast, we sit down with Tushar Shelke, Chairman & Managing Director of MotoHaus (Kolhapur), which is one of India's newest two-wheeler manufacturers/OEMs, to understand how he's building a “house of brands” with Brixton Motorcycles and VLF.We talk about what it takes to bring a global brand to India: CKD assembly, setting up a factory, homologation, supply chain realities (components from China/Thailand), and why MotoHaus is betting big on twin-cylinder motorcycles to fill the gap between 400cc and 800cc. Tushar also explains the thinking behind the Brixton Cromwell 1200 price positioning and how a new brand builds trust with warranty, service, and dealer profitability. On the scooter side, we deep-dive into VLF Tennis and the Mobster, including localisation plans, claimed mileage, India-specific product adaptation, and why physical dealerships still matter in a digital-first era. He also shares the vision for the next few years, targeting 250 to 300 showrooms in 5 years, export ambitions, and what it's really like to take on India's giants (Royal Enfield, Bajaj-Triumph, TVS-BMW, Hero-Harley).

He makes a pretty compelling case for rider improvement, so if you've got three hundred bucks and fancy a trip to sunny Florida, maybe now's the time to learn how to safely slide a motorcycle and make that two-wheeler grin of yours even wider. * * * * * Here's a quick reminder to leave us your comments on our social media—we're on all the usual platforms at Ultimate Motorcycling.
