Brooklands Members Talks Host Harry Sherrard talks with Ian Flux about his life in motorsport. Ian Flux never got biggest breaks to move him up the international motor racing ladder, but he did become one of British motorsport's most colourful and best-loved characters, and someone who has always lived life to the full. Fluxie has notched up nearly 50 years on track, from being a mechanic to motorcycle racing legend Giacomo Agostini to his stints in Formula 3, Thundersports and the British Touring Car Championship in a wide range of tin-tops, and his championship double in 1996 – the TVR Tuscan Challenge and the British GT Championship, driving a McLaren F1 GTR. Fluxie tells it how it was, covering not only the highs — including five championship titles — but also the many setbacks. Along the way you'll laugh with him about much of it, particularly the pranks, but also learn about some dark times that he has never previously divulged. Come and strap yourself in for an evening of lots of laughs!

Kicking off with Indycar at Indianopolis, where we had lots of drama. Felix Rosenqvist took the win, with Alexander Rossi and Alex Palou in 2nd and 3rd place. The NASCAR All Star race took place at North Wilkesboro, where Kyle Larson nabbed the $1 million prize. Liam Lawson is leading the points in the 2023 Superformula Series in Japan. Could Lawson come into Formula 1 from here? In Australia, we had the Supercars, where the Camaros had the podiums in all three races. At the 24 hours of the Nurburgring, we had a non-German team winning for the first time in 23 years. Driver David Pittard brought the Ferrari over the line for the Winner. Formula 1 Academy ladies were driving in Barcelona, where Lena Buhler took the win in Spain. Snetterton saw the British Touring Car Championship racing this weekend. With huge, motorcycle curbs, Ash Sutton continues to run away with the championship in his Ford Focus ST, followed closely by Tom Ingram and Colin Turkington. It was a Yamaha weekend at Donington Park for the British Superbikes, as Kyle Ryde won the sprint race and race 3, whilst Jason O'Halloran won the 2nd race. There was Caterham racing in Croft in the UK, as the Caterham Academy continues their Championship. Silverstone also saw the Citroen C1 24 hour race, which was highly exciting! The last 13 minutes of the race saw contract between the top two drivers, resulting in drive through penalties, changing the result of the race. Steve Rider is a bona fide legend of British sports broadcasting. Talking Away in this episode, the BBC Grandstand turned ITV Sport anchorman has been there and done it in just about every sport imaginable. There's plenty of nostalgia as Steve recalls the highest high of Lewis Hamilton winning the 2008 F1 world title on the last corner of the last lap of the last race and the lowest low of 3-time World Champion Ayrton Senna losing his life live in-vision at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. There's also discussion on Steve's invaluable contribution to the development of TV coverage for the British Touring Car Championship, including memories of the late Murray Walker and a clip from the great man's first-ever BBC broadcast in 1949.Follow @GregHainesTV on social media!X - https://x.com/greghainestvInsta - https://www.instagram.com/greghainestvYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/greghainestvContact Talking Away by email:TalkingAwayPodcast@gmail.com

WSR bowed out of F3 at the end of 1995 as the most successful team in the history of the series, both in terms of race victories and titles. From 1996 the team has concentrated on the British Touring Car Championship, with drivers including Nigel Mansell, Tom Kristensen, Andy Priaulx and multiple BTCC champion Colin Turkington. In total nine WSR drivers have won an FIA World Championship, while past and present racers have accounted for over 1500 Formula 1 starts, 18 Le Mans 24 Hours wins, two Indycar titles and 36 wins, an Indianapolis 500 victory and over 200 BTCC successes. WSR continues to run the BMW manufacturer assisted team in BTCC in 2022. With a wealth of anecdotes from more than 30 years in top level motorsport, Dick was in conversation with Harry Sherrard.

Unfortunately, our audio isn't quite as good as last week, as Tiff joins us on his mobile phone. Apologies for any inconvenience to our listeners! This week we have F1, W Series, British GT, Touring Cars and NASCAR! Kicking off in Miami with Formula 1! The event was very well hyped, with even a fake marina and boats on show! Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen performed a trademark, bold move on the first corner, and took the race win. Mercedes had a disappointing race, finishing in 5th and 6th with lots of porpoising going on. The W Series was supporting the F1 in Miami. It was a perfect win for Jamie Chadwick, with 2 wins this weekend. Last year's Winner, Alice Powell ended up stalling on the grid and finishing in 6th place. The World Endurance Championship was at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium. It was typically Spa weather, with lots of rain. The #7 Toyota was victorious, driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez, beating Alpine in 2nd place. The World Touring Cars started their season with a reverse grid at the Circuit de Pau Ville. The win went to Argentine driver, Nestor Girolami. British GT was taking place at Silverstone, with a win for Barwell Motorsport in their Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO. NASCAR was at the famous old oval, Darlington. We had a very controversial ending, with some questionable driving for Winner Joey Logano, who drove into William Byron and put the leader into the wall. This weekend, we have Indycar at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. IMSA are at the mid-Ohio course. Moto GP is back at the Le Mans Bugatti circuit in France. Formula E has a double header in Berlin and then in Britain we have the British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch!
