This week we are back with another race recap. This time reviewing the British GP. We also have some major news to cover after a big announcement from Red Bull. Enjoy!
Well that was a few days in the unhinged world of F1, we started off with an action packed British Grand Prix, which gave Lando Norris his first home win and Nico Hülkenberg his first podium in 239 starts, after some very mixed up weather conditions. And just when we thought the dust was settling in time for F1 to have the break before the official Summer break, RedBull go and pull something kind of unexpected out of the bag by announcing that their team principle and divisive character Christian Horner is no lonfer their team principle (or CEO for that matter)This week on the podcast we unpick the events of the last few days and revel in the fact that we decided to record a couple of days late this week so didn't miss the big midweek story! There's a bit of a review of the British GP as I'm fairly sure that everyone's heard about it all by now, but fresh off the newswire there's our deep dive into the trainwreck that is (and has been for the last year) the RedBull situation. It's not a case of "we come to bury Horner, not to priase him" but more of our honest thoughts on him as a team principle and his image as a person (not many punches were pulled in the making of this bit).On the Sauber side of the garage, we end up doing an impromptu Is That Glock as Kieren & Paul had done their homework, so we made Sian & Chris suffer because of it!Of course there's a fair amount of tangents too and if you want to join in with the chat during the races (along with practice and qualifying) head over to our Discord where there's always a great crowd of people to watch along with. And on the socials weve got our Facebook, Instagram, BlueSky & Twitter (or is it X) and Paul's attempts at Sim Racing on our Twitch channel. And if you want to support us you can donate to our Patreon as well from as little as £/$/€ 1 per monthEnjoy

Max Verstappen won the pole for the British GP - but by Sunday evening that seemed an age away: McLaren-Mercedes scored another easy one-two (or was it a two-one?); Nico Hulkenberg finished a staggering P3 for Sauber-Ferrari; Sir Lewis Hamilton was fourth, thereby losing his 12-year podium streak at Silverstone to the driver who spent more time than any other to break his podium duck - and Max could finish only fifth in a difficult-to-manage Red Bull-Honda. Welcome to our motorsports podcast where we discuss F1, IndyCar, IMSA, NASCAR, our own racing adventures, and some other adventures! This one is for the older guys - Nico Hulkenburg, Scott Dixon, and Shane Van Gisbergen show the younger guys it can still be done!Although both McLaren drivers dominated the British GP with Lando taking the win, it was Nico Hulkenberg who made the headlines as he scored his first career F1 podium finish after starting 19th on the grid! It was a wet and wild grand prix that tested the strategists to their limits. The experience and good timing from the Sauber pit wall helped launch Nico far up the grid to grab the team's first podium since Kamui Kobayashi at Suzuka in 2012.Indycar went to Mid-Ohio where it was the Chip Ganassi show by the end of the race. Alex Palou leading within the final 10 laps and Scott Dixon behind after saving fuel to make a two stop strategy work from starting 9th on the grid. With the laps winding down, Palou makes a rare mistake by going wide and off the track slightly which slowed him up enough that Dixon was able to capitalize and get ahead of Palou for the eventual win! Dixon is the third race winner for this season but this win now makes it 21 consecutive seasons with a win for Scott Dixon!NASCAR was at the park in the windy city of Chicago. SVG dominated the weekend in not just the Cup series but in Xfinity as well. This is two wins in the season for SVG now which moves him up in the standings for the playoff picture.Coming up this weekend: NASCAR at Sonoma, IndyCar is at Iowa for a double header, IMSA is at Mosport, and WEC is at Interlagos.

The Sauber party has begun, wow this is the form team of the month in our eyes, a rocket up the standings and suddenly all eyes are on 5th. After 239 attempts Hulk has his podium, one for the ages and all that bit sweeter, where does this rank in your all time podiums? Lando lands another blow, a 14pt swing in the Brits favour after a penalty denys Oscar. Is it alarm bells for the Aussie or just part of the fight? And it was a weekend to forget for Mercedes, Ferrari and Redbull, of the big 3 listed, who is pulling the pin on 2025 now? All the plus much much more on this week's episode of BTRL.
Silverstone, a time was had! First home win for Lando, First podium for Hulkenberg and incredibly tricky conditions to manage! Join us on our in person weekend recap. Enjoy!
In this episode we talk about the infamous British GP - better known as Silverstone. We talk about the highs, the lows, the DNF's and the surprising podium celebration.
Mercedes Reserve driver Fred Vesti and Fox Sports Mexico journalist Diego Mejia join Tom Clarkson in the Silverstone paddock to reflect on an action-packed British Grand Prix. Lando Norris won his home race for the first time to reduce the gap to his teammate and World Championship leader Oscar Piastri to eight points. What does that victory mean for Lando? How much momentum does winning back-to-back races give him? And after a 10-second penalty for a Safety Car infringement cost Oscar a chance of winning, how will he approach the next race? Nico Hulkenberg made history by securing the first podium of his F1 career in his 15th season and on his 239th race start. How did he climb from last on the grid to take P3 and hold off a charging Lewis Hamilton? Sauber Team Principal Jonathan Wheatley and CEO Mattia Binotto reflect on a ‘masterclass' drive and what this result means for Nico and the team. Also on the agenda: why wasn't Hamilton able to continue his incredible run of being on the podium at every British Grand Prix since 2014? And how did Max Verstappen go from a sensational pole position on Saturday to having an ‘undriveable car' in the wet conditions on Sunday? The British Grand Prix didn't disappoint, with a dream victory for Lando Norris, beating teammate Oscar Piastri after the Australian picked up a 10-second penalty for erratic driving behind the Safety Car. But the star of the show was Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg, who after 15 years and 239 starts in Formula 1, finally got his first podium finish. Autosport Editor-In-Chief Kevin Turner sits down with Jake Boxall-Legge and Ronald Vording to discuss all the action and news from Silverstone. Including Hulk's "incredible" podium, whether Piastri should have been penalised, Max Verstappen's spin from second and the persistent rumours over his future, and Mohammed Ben Sulayem's challenger for FIA President, Tim Mayer. Welcome to the post-race LIVE show. Needless to say that our heads are spinning after an epic British Grand Prix this Sunday at Silverstone. A big win for Lando Norris, a small disappointment for Oscar Piastri, but a major milestone for Nico Hulkenberg and team Sauber. Let's go! Share you thoughts in the comments below. Was Norris gifted a win by the FIA? How did Hulkenberg score his first podium - was it on merit? Did we see an emotional Piastri for the first time when he shamelessly asked for a swap with Norris? How did race tyre strategy unravel for Charles Leclerc & George Russell, also another retirement for Mercedes & Andrea Kimi Antonelli. And finally, was the FIA fair in penalising Piastri? And did they discuss this with the drivers in the briefing before setting a new precedent in race penalties? And for those who thought the Safety Car did more racing, in the first half of the race, boy did we get a show, including the position swaps by Lewis Hamilton. Max Verstappen chose to do his talking on-track yet again. He now has the maximum pole positions for any driver in 2025 - with four poles this season. In fact, he took pole in a low-downforce spec Red Bull Racing car, showing yet again that RBR-VER are always experimenting to beat the McLaren duo. Ferrari's Friday pace faded away on Saturday...yet again. But both drivers made errors to miss out on a front row start and will only line-up on the third row. However, Qualifying for the 2025 British Grand Prix was fought between 4 drivers - Verstappen, Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton. Oh yes, George Russell had an outside chance, one that he made for himself. Let's see what Sunday's race has in store. For now, tune in to Soumil Arora and Kunal Shah's livestream for the Inside Line F1 Podcast. 1996 Formula 1 World Champion, Damon Hill, and F1TV's lead commentator, Alex Jacques, join Christian Hewgill at the British Grand Prix for an F1 history lesson - 75 years since the World Championship began at Silverstone in 1950.
