This week James Allen welcomes Manish Pandey, the film maker and master storyteller who shot to prominence with the award-winning 2010 documentary Senna, which he made with Asif Kapadia and James Gay Rees of Drive to Survive fame. Since then Manish has followed up, gaining exclusive access to F1's ringmaster Bernie Ecclestone, to tell his behind the scenes story in the streaming series Lucky. Now he's done it again with a new film, Seeing Red, about another of F1's biggest characters, Luca Di Montezemolo. Montezemolo was only 28 years old when he won the 1975 F1 World Championships as Ferrari team manager with Niki Lauda. He then came back in the 1990s to lead Ferrari's renaissance, putting in place the “Dream Team” of Jean Todt, Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne that dominated F1 with Michael Schumacher. At the same time he brought the magic back to Ferrari's road car fleet. Manish talks about what has drawn him as a film maker to tell the stories of Senna, Ecclestone and Montezemolo, what they have in common and how their stories intersect. He reveals the conversations that Montezemolo and Senna had in 1994 about the great Brazilian joining Ferrari and looks at the Ferrari of today and asks: how important is it that the person at the top of Ferrari loves F1? Pernambucano do Recife, o piloto conta com apoio da tradicional equipe italiana para chegar na Fórmula 1. Depois de Rubens Barrichello e Felipe Massa, que venceram corridas e disputaram títulos com o vermelho da escuderia italiana, a Ferrari trata Rafael Câmara como uma verdadeira joia. Recentemente, o brasileiro de 20 anos conquistou o título desta temporada da Fórmula 3, categoria de acesso à F1. Marcio Arruda, enviado especial da RFI a Monza, Itália Rafael Câmara é a aposta da Ferrari há quatro anos. O brasileiro passou a integrar a academia da equipe italiana – uma espécie de programa para desenvolver jovens talentos – a partir da temporada de 2022. Desde que passou a ser piloto da Ferrari, Rafael foi campeão da Fórmula Regional Europeia (Freca) em 2024 e da F3 neste ano. “Eu não esperava começar tão bem quanto a gente começou. Conseguimos manter um ritmo forte durante todo o campeonato. O trabalho que fizemos antes dessa temporada da Fórmula 3 começar também foi muito importante. A equipe [Trident] fez um trabalho incrível”, avaliou Câmara. Além do talento, o brasileiro disse que o apoio da Ferrari tem sido muito importante para seu desenvolvimento pessoal e profissional. “A Ferrari ajudou bastante a minha carreira, desde a preparação para o fim de semana até gerir melhor os dias de treinos e corridas, além da parte técnica. Desde que entrei na academia [da Ferrari], eu passei a ter mais responsabilidade. Com o tempo, eu fui amadurecendo bastante. O tempo que passo em Maranello desde que me mudei para lá tem sido muito importante neste processo. Têm sido anos ótimos para meu desenvolvimento e, agora, acho que o trabalho está aparecendo”, contou Rafael Câmara. Tão perto da Fórmula 1 Pernambucano do Recife, Rafael disse que foi um sonho ter competido na Fórmula 3. “Estar no mesmo fim de semana da Fórmula 1 é sensacional. Quando comecei, não esperava chegar onde estou hoje. E quero ir além”, afirmou. Sem revelar o nome da equipe, Rafael Câmara afirmou que estará na Fórmula 2 em 2026. “Por ter sido campeão da Fórmula 3, não posso ficar na categoria. Assim, eu vou para a F2. Ainda não posso revelar o nome da equipe, mas certamente estaremos em boas condições para brigar pelo título. Espero começar em Melbourne [primeira etapa de 2026] como iniciei este ano, ou seja, com vitória”, planeja. Rafael Câmara quer seguir os passos de Charles Leclerc, atual piloto da Ferrari nascido em Mônaco, e do compatriota Gabriel Bortoleto, um dos melhores estreantes da Fórmula 1 em 2025. Os dois foram campeões nas Fórmulas 2 e 3 nos anos de suas estreias e alcançam a categoria mais importante do automobilismo no planeta. O sonho da Fórmula 1, para o jovem brasileiro, pode estar perto de se transformar em realidade. “Sinceramente, não é uma coisa surreal ter uma oportunidade em 2027.” Câmara disse que “se continuar desenvolvendo meu trabalho e conseguir fazer uma grande temporada no ano que vem, quem sabe? Mas, ao mesmo tempo, o que pode estar perto, pode ficar muito longe se eu não provar meu valor na Fórmula 2”. Joia verde-amarela da Ferrari A entrevista com a promessa brasileira foi feita numa sala reservada nos boxes da Ferrari em Monza, durante o Grande Prêmio da Itália de F1. No ambiente, quadros de grandes pilotos na escuderia italiana, como o austríaco tricampeão mundial Niki Lauda (1975/77/84) e o italiano bicampeão Alberto Ascari (1952/53), além de fotos do inglês heptacampeão Lewis Hamilton (2008/14/15/17/18/19/20). “Os melhores pilotos sempre sonham em guiar para a Ferrari. Então, estar na academia e vislumbrar que um dia esta possibilidade poderá se tornar realidade é uma coisa surreal. Comecei nas pistas aos 6 anos. E foi por acaso porque quem começou no kart foi meu irmão. Hoje, poder ter a oportunidade de fazer parte da Ferrari é incrível”, vibrou o brasileiro. Rafael Câmara não era nascido quando seu ídolo competia na Fórmula 1, mas mostrou que conhece a história e o legado do tricampeão mundial, que em 2024 foi lembrado não só na França, mas em todo mundo pelos 30 anos de sua morte. “Uma pessoa que eu admiro muito é o Ayrton Senna, não só pelo que ele fez nas pistas, mas fora delas também. Também admiro todos os outros brasileiros que passaram pela Fórmula 1. Agora temos o Gabriel [Bortoleto], que tem feito um excelente trabalho. É sempre legal ver o Brasil em evidência no esporte”, contou. Representante de um país com 8 títulos mundiais Rafael disse que se sente honrado por representar o Brasil nas pistas e que não sente pressão por ser compatriota do bicampeão Emerson Fittipaldi (1972/74) e dos tricampeões Nelson Piquet (1981/83/87) e Ayrton Senna (1988/1990/1991). “Nunca tive um peso a mais por ser brasileiro. Aliás, é uma motivação porque estou longe dos meus familiares e amigos. Por estar longe, eu também trabalho por todos que torcem por mim", salientou. Timidez sem capacete O jovem brasileiro disse que ainda não se acostumou com a fama e o assédio dos torcedores. Na entrevista, ficou evidente a timidez do jovem brasileiro quando está sem capacete e balaclava. “Eu sou uma pessoa bem reservada; gosto de estar com minha família e meus amigos. Acho que não tenho o perfil de uma pessoa famosa”, comentou Rafael, aos risos. “É interessante porque toda a temporada é muito desgastante não só fisicamente, mas também mentalmente. Mas confesso que, sempre que estou em casa em fim de semana sem compromisso nas pistas, eu ligo a TV e procuro alguma corrida para assistir. Eu não consigo parar”, contou, com bom humor, Câmara. O piloto brasileiro ressaltou que não pode perder o foco seja qual for a época do ano. “Sempre estou me preparando. Eu realmente nunca paro; nunca relaxo. Então, eu sempre estou pensando nas coisas que posso melhorar, como pessoa e como piloto. Eu me preparo bem para chegar sempre feliz nas corridas”, finalizou o campeão da Fórmula 3 em 2025. É com essa felicidade que o Brasil espera que Rafael Câmara continue acelerando e tendo sucesso nas pistas para um dia chegar à Fórmula 1 e, quem sabe, se juntar aos nossos campeões Fittipaldi, Piquet e Senna.

Senna is a stimulant laxative. Its pharmacological activity comes from natural compounds called sennosides. Metabolites act locally in the colon to stimulate peristalsis, thereby accelerating bowel movements. While osmotic laxatives are generally considered first-line laxative agents, this makes senna a useful alternative for the short-term treatment of constipation. The pharmacokinetics of senna are unique in that its onset of action typically takes 6 to 12 hours after oral administration, reflecting the time required for colonic bacteria to metabolize sennosides into active compounds. This delayed onset makes senna better suited for bedtime dosing when overnight relief is desired. Although senna is effective, its use carries potential adverse effects. Common side effects include abdominal cramping, diarrhea, and, rarely, electrolyte disturbances such as hypokalemia. Chronic or excessive use can lead to dependency and possibly melanosis coli, a benign but visible pigmentation of the colon lining. Drug interactions may occur, particularly with medications affected by potassium levels, such as digoxin or diuretics. For these reasons, senna is generally recommended for short-term use, with emphasis on evaluating underlying causes of constipation before long-term therapy is considered.

Si te hablo de la presencia de Honda en la F1 seguro que te vienen a la memoria los títulos, no todos, pero muchos de ellos, de Prost, Senna, Verstappen… en resumen, una historia de éxitos. Pues, ni mucho menos. Honda, como motorista, ha tenido grandes éxitos y momento muy difíciles, tanto como para decir adiós a la F1 más de una vez… y te lo vamos a contar. Y es que Honda comenzó en la F1 mucho antes de lo que imaginas. Ya en el año 1963 vino a disputar la F1 y además no como motorista, sino con sus propios coches. A Soichiro Honda le apasionaban los retos y la competición. Primero comenzó en las motos en 1959, donde a pesar de unos comienzos difíciles, enseguida comenzó a cosechar resultados, y luego pensó que el mayor reto era la F1… y lo fue… Solo tres años después de lanzar su primer coche de calle Honda se embarcó en la F1 siendo de los pocos, como BRM y Ferrari, que creaban sus propios motores y chasis, absolutamente todo. Y salvo los pilotos, todos eran japoneses. El primer modelo, creado en 1962, se llamó 271 y contaba con un motor impresionante, un V12 a 60 grados de solo 1495 cm3, el reglamente limitaba la cilindrada a 1,5 litros, que sobrepasaba los 200 CV. En su segundo año ganaron en el G.P. de México con Richie Ginther y tras un año de sequía vencieron en el GP de Italia con nada menos que John Surtees al volante.El último monoplaza de F1 enteramente Honda fue el RA302 con motor ya de 3 litros y más de 430 CV. Lo curioso es que era de refrigeración por aire. El coche debutó en Gran Premio de Francia de 1968 con Jo Schlesser con la desgracia de que falleció en la segunda vuelta. Este accidente y el hecho de que Surtees dejó el equipo, decidió a Honda a dejar la F1… por el momento. En 1983, 15 años después de su retirada, Honda anunció que volvía como motorista a la F1 con un motor 1.500 cm3 turboalimentado para el equipo Spirit… Pero el Spirit-Honda era en realidad un Honda. Ofrecieron al equipo Williams sus motores y en el GP de Dallas de 1984, con Keke Rosberg al volante, llegó la primera victoria de Honda como motorista. En 1985 ganaron 3 Grandes Premios y todo hacía presagiar que iban a llegar grandes éxitos… y llegaron. En 1986 el famoso y espectacular reventón de Nigel Mansell en el GP de Australia en Adelaida privó a Honda de hacer doblete. Williams-Honda ganó el Mundial de constructores, pero Alain Prost, con su McLaren-Porsche, les “robo” la cartera en el Mundial de pilotos… Un pinchazo que valía por un Mundial. Sin problemas, se desquitaron en 1987 cuando ya hicieron doblete con Piquet. Y cambiaron de aires. Entre 1988 y 1991 Honda lo gana todo. Se dice que “empujado” por Senna, el equipo McLaren decide cambiar los motores Porsche por los motores Honda. Un acierto, porque los McLaren-Honda no solo lo ganaron todo en esos cuatro años, sino que despedazaron todos los récords. El equipo ganó esos 4 mundiales y los pilotos se los repartieron de forma desigual, el de 1989 fue “de aquella manera” para Prost, los de 1988, 1990 y 1991 para uno de los mejores pilotos de todos los tiempos. Williams había apostado por el nuevo motor Renault, una apuesta de Frank Williams que al principio parecía arriesgada pero que demostró ser todo un acierto. El año 92 fue un desastre para el equipo McLaren-Honda. Los motores Renault se mostraron muy competitivos, pero mucho, y el nuevo chasis del Williams FW14B con suspensiones activas se mostró a otro nivel. Por fin Nigel Mansell pudo ganar un título que se le resistía y que, en mi opinión, se merecía. La industria japonesa del automóvil comenzó una crisis a comienzo de los años 90… no era el mejor momento para gastar en la F1, pero si se ganaba, compensaba. Pero perder ante Renault y de una forma casi aplastante, decidió a Honda dejar de nuevo la F1… por el momento. Si, porque la empresa Mugen, especializada en preparación de motores Honda sí siguió como motorista digamos que en equipos de “segunda división” sin ánimo de ofender. Era el caso de equipos como Ligier, Jordan, Footwork o Prost. Y a finales de los 90 Honda decide regresar, saca al ingeniero de motores Kyle Petryshen de HRC y ficha nada menos que a Harvey Postlewaite como diseñador y jefe de equipo, un lujo. El nuevo RA099 diseñado por Postlewaite, construido por Dallara y conducido por Verstappen, Jos, el padre, no Max, se mostró rápido y competitivo. Todo iba bien hasta que de nuevo la mala suerte se cebó en el equipo Honda, porque durante unos ensayos en Barcelona el bueno de Harvey sufrió un infarto fatal… y Honda abandonó… otra vez a medias. Tras la cancelación del proyecto Honda RA099 de 1999, Honda volvió como motorista al año siguiente. Suministró motores al equipo “British American Tobacco”, más conocido por BAR desde el 2000 hasta 2004 y a Jordan entre 2001 y 2002. No fue una etapa muy fructífera salvo el último año con BAR, el 2004, en el que lograron muchos podios y un segundo puesto en constructores por detrás de Ferrari. En 2005 Honda compra el 55 por ciento de BAR y vuelve ya como equipo Honda. El retorno fue exitoso, con la victoria en el GP de Hungría de Jenson Button. Pero el 2007 fue desastroso y ni el fichaje de Ross Brawn, exingeniero de Michael Schumacher en Ferrari, consiguió que el equipo saliera del bache. A finales de 2008 Honda anuncia que, a causa de la crisis económica, Honda abandona la F1… era la cuarta vez… En el 2015 se reedita el dúo invencible de los 90, porque Honda para a motorizar a los McLaren… pero faltaban Prost y Senna en la ecuación. A pesar de contar con pilotos Campeones del Mundo, como Jenson Button y nuestro Fernando Alonso, el dúo no funcionó y McLaren deja a Honda en 2018… lo cual fue una bendición. ¿Por qué una bendición? Porque Honda pasó a motorizar al equipo B de Red Bull, entonces Toro Rosso y la escudería principal ve que esos motores funcionan y muy bien y en 2019 los usan para sus coches de Red Bull y su piloto estrella, Max Verstappen. En 2019 Honda se convierte en el suministrador de motores de Red Bull… aunque no lo parezca. Y ahora explico el porqué de esta frase. Por fin en 2021, Honda ganó el título de pilotos con Max Verstappen. La frase viene porque en 2022, 2023 y 2024 Red Bull corrió con un motor bajo el nombre de Red Bull Power Trains, pero que realmente eran motores fabricados por Honda. Así que para mí Honda gano dichos títulos aunque no se muestren en las estadísticas de manera oficial. Conclusión. Seguramente la historia de Honda demuestra esa famosa frase que se aprende más de los fracasos quede los éxitos. Honda en la F1 desde luego no es Ferrari, pero sin duda parece difícil imaginar una F1 sin esta marca de motores, que ha estado presente tantos años, aunque de forma intermitente. Porque en Honda tienen a gala que son el mayor productor de motores térmicos del Mundo y que hacen los mejores motores térmicos del Mundo. Y la F1 es el mejor lugar donde demostrarlo…

He went to drinking spiral, bad marriages, then driving taxis, and then found his way into any racing series that would have him and let him try to tame it. And they all did. Dale Earnhardt Jr. welcomes former Cup Series driver & 1978 Karting World Champion Lake Speed to the studio to learn about his path from karts to Cup. Without the support of his parents, Lake had to chase the racing dream on his own, and started a karting business out of his house to fuel the fire. After finding success stateside, Lake ventured to Europe to pursue the ultimate achievement in karting: The World Championships. After a few embarrassing first attempts racing internationally, Lake finally won it all in 1978, beating future F1 Champion Ayrton Senna. After achieving the highest honor in the karting world, Lake shares why he wanted to move to NASCAR, and looks back at the moment he busted his ass in his first handful of laps in a Cup car. Lake opens up on his deep connection to faith, and how he learned to trust the inner voice in his head. Once he started trusting that voice, everything changed for him, and he went on to deliver an impressive second place finish in the Daytona 500 and a win at Darlington several years later. Dale & Lake close out the interview by discussing his relief efforts following Davey Allison's passing, his fight with Michael Waltrip, and his experience working with the Motor Racing Outreach. Even at 77 years old, Lake still races. That alone should tell you this is a conversation you have to hear.
