This month, we're revisiting some standout conversations from our archives. In this episode, three seasoned trial court judges reflect on the cases that have stayed with them throughout their years on the bench. ----- All judges have cases that stick with them and linger in their memories. Sometimes it was because of the high profile of the case, and sometimes an obscure case had personal resonance because of the people or issues involved. In this episode of the Modern Law Library, the ABA Journal's Lee Rawles speaks with Judges Russell F. Canan, Gregory E. Mize and Frederick H. Weisberg, who all sit on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. The three judges were contributors to and the editors of “Tough Cases: Judges Tell the Stories of Some of the Hardest Decisions They've Ever Made.” Canan, Mize and Weisberg share their own stories, including why Canan's well-meant gesture to avert an injustice in a gun case still troubles him. Mize explains why a child-custody case haunted him for decades, and what happened when he tracked down the now-grown child as he was deciding whether to write about it for “Tough Cases.” Weisberg talks about dealing with the emotional fallout from overseeing a case where a mother had murdered her four children.

This is it—the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Summer Edition 26408OR. Discontinued, limited to just 500 pieces, and quite possibly one of the best APs ever made. Chris Warnes of Warrior Time breaks it all down. This piece has been on Chris's vision board for 7 years, and now it's in his hands. But is it a grail to keep or just another watch to sell? With a market value around $60K, original paperwork, and unmatched wrist presence, this watch earns one of the highest scores ever given on the channel.
The United States and European Union have reached a trade deal that will see the EU face 15 per cent tariffs on most of its exports to America. The deal prevents a Trans-Atlantic trade war that could have had a huge impact on the global economy. Announcing it at his Scottish golf resort, Donald Trump described it in glowing terms but experts say Europe is likely to take a hit.
I wanted to share a story on something I've been in deep reflection around in my life.. and it's probably not the story you're used to hearing around abundance.Because the greatest ROI I've ever received wasn't from a funnel or a launch or a business strategy. It came from one decision I've made over and over again for the last 25 years:It's come from choosing to FOLLOW the pull of my desires and stepping into the energy and action of possibility before it EVER made sense, before I had the proof, and long before I had the cash sitting in the bank.If you've ever felt the pull of a big desire…but talked yourself out of it because it didn't feel “logical,” “safe,” or “justifiable,” to invest in…I promise you this episode is the permission slip you need to help you let go of the deep ingrained scarcity so many of us are conditioned into.. Because abundance isn't something you earn. It's something you embody, by stretching into self-trust, claiming what you want, and backing your desire with bold, aligned action.Let this episode remind you:You are ALWAYS your best investment. And the sooner you start treating yourself that way, the faster your life will reflect it.Inside this episode, we explore:✨ The “batshit crazy” decisions that led to my most abundant reality ✨The MOST important investing principle I use to make sure I actually can create the ROI I desire.. ✨ The 2 stages of abundance and how to move from husting hard to easeful energetic creation ✨ How to know the difference between a true aligned stretch vs scarcity-fueled grasping ✨ My $400K real estate story that proves intuitive risk creates quantum return ✨ Why your desires are divine assignments and following them is the fastest path to alignmentThis is the conversation I wish more women were having: Not just about how to earn more... but how to expand your capacity to create the abundant overflow meant for you!
In this classic episode, the Junkies talk about the lighthearted family comedy/snuff film their producers made them watch: Roar, also called "The Most Dangerous Movie Ever Made." While Shauna and Olivia weren't impressed with the whisper-thin plot and so-so acting (even though it stars Tippi Hedren and Melanie Griffith), they couldn't help but be awed by the choices made by producer Noel Marshall and his family, and not in a good way. Between 70-120 members of the cast and crew were mauled, maimed, scalped, bitten and broken during production - but the Junkies have all the reasons you need to see this movie anyway, like using it as the basis of a life-threatening drinking game. Spike and Jonny cover exotic car extremes from the $4M Ferrari F80 to the seductive Aston Martin Vanquish. The Biggest Mistake in Estate Agency Tech: Mal McCallion Tells All! What if the biggest mistake of your career was trusting technology to do it all? In this candid and thought provoking conversation, we're joined by Mal McCallion, (the man behind PrimeLocation and Zoopla), as he reflects on his early belief that tech would revolutionise estate agency without much human input. Fast forward to today, and with AI dominating the conversation, Mal reveals why that mindset was flawed and what agents really need to know. This episode dives into how AI is reshaping the property industry, not by replacing people, but by shifting how we work. Mal talks about the real opportunities AI brings, the dangers of hype, and why relationships still sit at the heart of the business. He also challenges whether CRMs are keeping pace, and what agents should be doing to stay ahead. Listen now and share your thoughts. Has AI started changing your business yet, or are you still waiting to see the impact?

Ben and Rob head to the frontlines with Alex Garland's Civil War (2024), the film that he intended to be his last in the directors chair. Starring Kirsten Dunst, Wagner Moura, Cailee Spaeny, and Nick Offerman, Civil War isn't your typical dystopian epic. Instead, Alex Garland delivers a chilling, ground-level road movie where journalists race through a divided America to document its collapse. But why did Alex Garland decide Civil War would be his final film? And why is journalism such a personal subject for this movie? The lads also dive into the film's technical side, unpacking how Alex Garland uses chromatic aberration to distort reality and amplify tension without the audience even realising. Is it a visual gimmick, or a metaphor for truth being refracted and fragmented? Finally, they ask the big question: what does Civil War actually mean? Is Garland predicting the fall of democracy, mourning it, or just trying to warn us while he still can?One thing's certain: with Civil War, Alex Garland didn't just make one of A24's most successful films, he made a film that may still predict the future. What is Roar? It's a 1981 movie starring Noel Marshall, Tippi Hedren, and Melanie Griffith about a family that gets attacked by dozens of big cats. However, the movie itself isn't all that interesting compared to the story behind it because throughout production, as many as 70 people were injured from those cats, making it one of the most dangerous film productions in history. --Written by Mike Bedard--Join our Discord server!https://bit.ly/deepcutsdiscord--Pick up some Deep Cuts T-Shirts and other merch!https://bit.ly/deepcutsmerch--Get the official Deep Cuts shoulder patch!http://bit.ly/deepcuts_patch--Listen to our album, a 9 song rock opera about the rise and fall of Napster!https://open.spotify.com/album/63C5uu1tkzZ2FhfsrSSf5s?si=q4WItoNmRUeM159TxKLWew

Five years ago, I faced what I call my "great midlife unravelling," a collision of grief, perimenopause, and career crossroads that left me questioning everything. Today, I've built a global podcast, mentor women worldwide, and live a life aligned with my deepest values. The difference? I chose to invest in myself when it felt scariest. In this personal solo episode, I share the behind-the-scenes story of how backing myself through meditation courses, masterminds, and mentoring didn't just change my career, it transformed my relationships, confidence, and sense of what's possible in the second half of life.Key TakeawaysThe "Later" Trap Will Keep You Stuck ForeverWe tell ourselves we'll invest in growth when work calms down, when kids are older, when we have more time. But what if later never feels easier? What if now is all we have? The women thriving in midlife stopped waiting for perfect conditions and started creating change from within.Free Resources Won't Create Deep ChangePodcasts, YouTube videos, and saved Instagram posts are helpful, but they won't make daily choices for you or do the inner work. When we don't pay for something, we don't pay attention. Real investment through time, energy, and money creates real commitment and sustainable transformation.Your Roles Don't Define Your WorthAsk yourself, when it comes to investing time and money in yourself, what do you think you are worth? Not what your job title says or your family roles reflect, but you, your dreams, growth, and potential. The answer reveals everything about what you'll allow into your life.Investment Creates Ripple Effects Beyond YouWhen you invest in yourself, everything expands around you. Relationships deepen, new friendships form, and opportunities appear that you didn't know existed. Your growth permits others to grow. Your courage invites others to be courageous.Small Steps Lead to Extraordinary OutcomesMy journey from lost educator to global podcaster started with a meditation course. Then books, then a mastermind that terrified me. Each investment built on the last, creating momentum that transformed not just my career but my entire identity. You don't need to know the whole staircase, just take the first step.Your Next Chapter Starts NowThe woman you're becoming in midlife isn't the woman you were five years ago, and she's not the woman you'll be five years from now. You're at the halfway mark, not the finish line. Stop waiting for a crisis or a magical sign to begin investing in yourself. Ben and Rob wade into the beautiful mind of Brian Wilson's mind waters with ‘Love & Mercy' the biopic that, much like the man, is split right in two. With Paul Dano as the young Brian Wilson crafting Pet Sounds and battling hallucinations, and John Cusack as the older Brian Wilson trapped under the thumb of a manipulative therapist, ‘Love & Mercy' captures the genius of Brian Wilson, the dysfunction within The Beach Boys, and the line between inspiration and illness. But why is Ben so deeply emotionally attached to Brian Wilson? Is Paul Dano secretly becoming what Gary Oldman once was? Why was it so hard to be a sober Beach Boy? And with Brian Wilson sadly passing away this week, are we objectively in a worse world, or is there hope?CONSUUUME to find out all this and much MUCH more!PLUS! We're finally digging into “Voodoo” - D'Angelo's Grammy-winning album that changed the sound of R&B, soul, and hip-hop forever. And the album a young Adam Maness had on repeat, seriously influencing his playing as well as countless musicians since. With Questlove's “Dilla-drag” drumming, Pino Palladino's funky bass lines, Roy Hargrove's jazzy horn arrangements, and Charlie Hunter's chicken-picking guitar, Voodoo is packed with the kind of cross-genre musicality that makes jazz musicians lose their minds.Twenty-five years later, Voodoo still grooves harder, hits deeper, and sounds more human than many albums of its generation. In this episode, you'll hear:What makes D'Angelo's groove so unique (and hard to imitate)Isolated tracks, rare demos, and interviews with the artistsHow “Spanish Joint” came together in a single takeWhether “Feel Like Makin' Love” tops the Roberta Flack originalAnd whether “Voodoo” is even an R&B album at allABOUT OPEN STUDIO------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------As the premier online jazz education platform, with an ever-expanding course library and 20,000+ members, Open Studio (OS) has everything you need to excel and thrive on your jazz journey.Featuring everything from beginner to advanced lessons, engaging courses from A-list instructors, step-by-step curriculum, real-time classes and a thriving and incredibly supportive community, OS is the perfect platform to level up your jazz playing, whether you're a total beginner, or an advanced pro-level improvisor.

In this episode, I share what's been stirring behind the scenes since becoming a mother — and why I've made the bold decision to retire every single program I've ever created. This is the most honest I've ever been about where I'm at in life, in business, and what's coming next. In this episode, I dive into: • The deep inner shift I've experienced since having my baby • Why I'm taking all of my programs down — and not just repackaging them • The power of self-trust and listening to your truth • How I knew it was time to let go (even when it was still “working”) • My commitment to creative integrity and authentic leadership • The real story behind this transition — and what's next for me • How you can get access to my entire library before it disappears This one's raw, real, and straight from the heart.

In this shocking interview, Martin Armstrong delivers what may be the most important forecast of his career: Ukraine will disappear. This isn't a guess. It's based on decades of data from the Socrates AI forecasting system — and it's never issued a warning like this before. We also cover: --Why Ukraine is finished, no matter what the West says --Why Europe needs war to stay afloat --How the next economic collapse will ripple from the periphery inward --And what you can do to prepare before the clock runs out Armstrong's model has never been wrong about direction — and now it's pointing to something irreversible.
