My friend Val has always been a truly unique human being. With a heart of gold and the intelligence of a gifted scientist, she's always had this uncanny ability to bring people together through community, love and friendship.  We all have that circle of friends we would consider to be the movers and shakers of our lifetime. The ones that seem to be on a mission to bring beauty and love into the world. She always comes to mind. She's the type of person you start a conversation with, and four hours later you still have so much more to talk about.  I've always admired her courage to follow her dreams and embody her passion.  Of course, it makes sense for someone as talented as she is. A few things to note about her,    She created a non profit called “Yoga For A Cause” A repeated supporter of “Cycle For Survival” charity events A gifted artist A gifted musician Helped build the Woogie Stage at Lightning In A Bottle  Lead engineer for “Cosmic Entanglement” art installation at Burning Man 2022 Spent Time In Dalai Lamas Temple In India Helped support programs dedicated to helping the homeless on Skid Row Managed online businesses selling sustainable materials meant to reduce waste.  Long story short, she has a big heart and an even bigger one for the adventurous spirit within that calls each of us to follow our path to love. In this episode we discuss her passion for self exploration and her love for travel. In this episode we discuss,    The True Beauty Of Burning Man  The Communal Life Of Transformational Festivals  Life As A Digital Nomad  A Girl And Her RV (Interstate Travel)  A Girl Traveling The World (International Travel)  The Courage To Be Uncomfortable  The Self Sustainable Self  Life In India With The Dalai Lama Teaching English To Tibetan Monks  Relationships On The Road    Divine Nobodies - Full Episode on YouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoSUTCgzbvw Divine Nobodies Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/divine.nobo... We are excited to feature a DJ that really packed a punch at PM during this year's burn. Here is an exclusive, energetic mix from the Truckee-based, Hawaii-born Grant Kaye; part of the goofball DJ collective Pocket Underground that brings the Woogie Stage to the Lightning in a Bottle festival in Southern California. Grant rocks sets here and there at venues around the Reno/Tahoe area, as well as at Burning Man and other underground outdoor festivals. Grant curates and produces Pocket Underground's weekly tech house / techno podcast Beat Soup - check it out athttp://pocket.podomatic.com. It's delicious!Grant was a volcano scientist at the US Geological Survey's Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, and also worked for the New Zealand Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences. In 2008, he moved on from his career in volcanic hazards in New Zealand to return to Lake Tahoe, where he lives with his wife Kirsten and works as a GIS cartographer and a landscape and timelapse photographer. When he's not making maps or taking pictures, Grant likes to weld and make fire art for Burning Man. Grant was part of the crew that brought you the Electric Ladyland sound camp at Burning Man 2010 and the Chinese Takeout Box art cart in 2011, and he built the fire system on the shipwreck La Llorona in 2012 as a part of the Reno-based Pier Group.Check out Grant's photography here: http://grantkaye.comView his videos on Vimeo: http://vimeo.com/grantkayeDownload his mixes on Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/grantkayeConnect with Grant on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/grantkayemusicSee what's cooking at Pocket Underground: http://pocketunderground.com

For this latest Pink Mammoth Podcast episode, we are excited to feature a live mix-straight from Lighting in a Bottle- from our friend, and co-owner of pocket underground, Sammy Bliss. Catch him live with our own Pink Mammoth resident, Gravity at Public Works-This Saturday, 22nd for Do LaB's Woggie Nights. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=257926920911594   ABOUT SAMMY BLISS: Sammy grew up in and around New England, finally landing on the East end of Long Island. Addicted to music at a very young age Sammy was a skilled mix-tape DJ, but it wasn't until he found himself in LA that the door opened for him to House music and the scene that went with it. Sammy was introduced to Jesse Wright through a mutual friend in 2002 and that was pretty much the beginning of the end. Together Sammy and Jesse formed Pocket Underground and starting throwing parties in a warehouse location right in the center of Hollywood. Shortly thereafter Sammy took a credit card to Guitar Center and bought his first pair of Technique 1200's. Since then Sammy has made asses shake all over the West coast, from San Fran to Mexico. He's had the immense honor of playing every year at Coachella since 2007, his crew Pocket Underground held a monthly residency at the mega-club Spundae LA from 2005-2007, and Sammy and Jesse run the Woogie Stage at the annual green festival Lightning in a Bottle where they've booked talent ranging from Lee Burridge, to Sandra Collins, John Tejada, Claude VonStroke, Nick Warren, Jay Tripwire and many more. He's played several times at the SF LoveFest Parade (So fun!!), Avalon Hollywood, Burning Man, Elysium Festival, Fuente Eterno, and more underground parties than you can shake a stick at. Having recently moved to the San Francisco East Bay area, 2011 is looking better than ever. With gigs at Coachella, The Alchemy Festival and Lightning in a Bottle in the immediate future, Sammy will be branching into the SF scene and is working out the details for a gig in Santa Fe this summer. Sammy's deep connection to the dirty, chuggy 4/4 always keeps the crowd riding his wave of delicious tech house and chunky techno right into the dawn. He loves connecting to each and every person on the dance floor as they journey together down the rabbit hole of funky beats.

The Space Cowboys are pleased to welcome another member of L.A.'s illustrious Pocket Underground crew, Sammy Bliss, to the RIPEcast this week. Sammy is also a resident with The Do Lab and one of the masterminds behind the fabulous Woogie Stage at the Lightening in a Bottle Festival in Southern California. For his appearance on the podcast this week, Sammy has put together this tasty, 68-minute tech-house mix that we think you're gonna love! And oh by the way, if you live in San Francisco or will be visiting our fair city on Saturay, October 22nd, you can catch Sammy and fellow Pocket Undergrounder and RIPEcast guest, Pumpkin, at Public Works for "Woogie NIghts". For more information on that event visit http://on.fb.me/woogie-nights. A little more backgound on this week's distinguished guest... Originating from New York, Sammy Bliss found himself in Los Angeles in the early 90’s, which is where, ultimately, his DJ career flourished as part of the LA Underground scene. One half of the team that brings you The Woogie Stage at Lightning in a Bottle each year, he’s also the co-founder of Pocket Underground, a DJ collective and goofball party crew based out of Los Angeles. Having recently moved his family to the East Bay, the Pocket vibe will soon be infiltrating the San Francisco bay area as well. Known for big, chunky Tech-House and dirty Techno, Sammy plays annually at Coachella and L.I.B., in addition to making asses shake at Spundae LA, Avalon, SF Love Parade, Burning Man, Fuente Eterno & Alma Paradiso (Mexico), Elysium Festival, Lucent L’Amore and more underground parties than he can remember. He’s a resident DJ with The Do LaB, NinjaSkillz and, of course, Pocket Underground.
