Every week since 2010, we feature exclusive house, breakbeat, and drum 'n' bass mixes from our own roster of DJs as well as from Krafty Kuts, Ardalan, Yo Speed, Left/Right, A.Skillz, Plump DJs, Elite Force, Slyde, and more.
The RIPEcast by Space Cowboys is a podcast that I absolutely love. Every week for the past 3 1/2 years, they have been consistently providing fresh DJ mixes that are a true delight to listen to. Whether it's a live recording from one of their parties or a studio mix created specifically for the show, each episode takes me on a journey and makes me feel like I'm reliving some of the best space cowboy parties I've ever attended. It's truly priceless.
One of the best aspects of The RIPEcast is the incredible lineup of DJs that they feature. The resident DJs from Space Cowboys, such as Brad Robinson, 8Ball, Kapt'n Kirk, ShOOey, Tamo, Zach Moore, Shissla, and many more, always deliver top-notch mixes that never fail to impress. But what sets this podcast apart is the fact that they also showcase some of the finest artists from the international scene. From Krafty Kuts to Plump Djs, Deekline to Fort Knox Five, Elite Force to Bobby C Sound TV - every episode brings something unique and exciting to the table. The variety and quality of music featured on The RIPEcast is truly outstanding.
While there are so many great things about The RIPEcast, there are unfortunately no major downsides that I can think of. One minor aspect that some listeners might find challenging is the length of the podcast episodes. As each mix is around an hour long, it can be quite a commitment for someone who prefers shorter content. However, for those who truly appreciate good music and are willing to invest their time in listening to a full set, this should not be an issue at all.
In conclusion, The RIPEcast by Space Cowboys is hands down my go-to podcast when I'm looking for fresh beats and music that will keep my booty grooving. It never disappoints with its consistently high-quality mixes and the variety of DJs featured. The podcast has certainly earned its reputation as one of the best electronic music podcasts out there, and I highly recommend checking it out for anyone who loves great music and wants to experience the feeling of being at an incredible party from the comfort of their own headphones.
Hello friends! Here's my set from the 2025 Bottlerock roller rink — a cheeky, slightly shameful ride through bouncy remixes, edits, and mashups. Think of it as one big, extended Rick Roll: full of guilty pleasures, surprise flips, and rollerskating-ready controlled chaos. I had an absolute blast playing, and I can officially check “DJ a roller rink” off the bucket list. Big love to the legends at HUSHconcerts and the Lululemon brand team for creating such a stunning activation! xo, 8b
Danger Muffin and CRANE- what a thrill to kick off our BOC debut with all you beautiful people! A truly incredible event to play, it was a blast to share our music with so many friends! Can't wait for next year! DJ Danger Muffin https://on.soundcloud.com/yPUQs163FSmCvKeA9 CRANE https://on.soundcloud.com/QvX3W4vbpzKGo6zR6
On the RIPEcast this week longtime Space Cowboy Tamo. In her words, "I LOVE New Year's Day & playing at Breakfast of Champions is definitely one of my favorite places to DJ. Enjoy the mix!" XO Tamo
Featured this week another Space Cowboy who brings it. Every. Single. Time. A man who has never missed DJing a single Breakfast of Champions. The one and only Brad Robinson. "It was another great New Year's Day and the sunshine. Thanks to everyone that came out for Breakfast of Champions this year and those who stayed late to hear me play after the sun went down. Please check out the Sylvan Esso remix that I put together on the first track." -Brad Robinson
Breakfast of Champions is always been a special day of welcoming the new year with new and old friends and seeing our community come together in one place is magical! Although I have taken a step back from DJing and posting mixes, but without fail, BOC inspires me to keep on playing. If you were there with me on the dancefloor, I was seriously soaking in all your vibes... thank you all for making it such a memorable set! Catch me next on 3/22/25 at 7th West in Oakland with Disco Donutz! Find me at IG and FB @djshooey!
On this weeks RIPEcast our good friend from New York @_defkon with a live set on the Mog stage from Breakfast of Champions '25. Link to mix in comments From Defkon - Playing the 25th Anniversary of Breakfast of Champions was an absolute honor. The Space Cowboys have been a huge inspiration in my journey as a DJ, so getting the chance to represent Brooklyn at BOC this year was a dream come true. Sharing the stage with legends like Sporty-O & Thug Shells —who both came out to perform with me—made it even more special. Knowing I was playing for a veteran crowd that's heard and danced to some of the best breaks out there, I knew I had to bring my A-game. I think I accurately delivered my sound, keeping the energy high and the dance floor moving until the very end. Closing out the legendary MOG Stage alongside my mentors was an unforgettable experience. Huge thanks to DJ Deckard, Rumblemunk, and the entire Space Cowboys crew for welcoming me with open arms and making me feel at home!
This week on the RIPEcast, Space Cowboys welcome back Smoove to the Bay Area. Aloha Funkateers Back in Y2K era San Francisco, there was a trend amongst the uber cool restaurants where - as part of the dining room ambience - you would often find a DJ mixing live during dinner service. It was here, spinning vinyl all night propped up at the end of the bar, in this bastion of late 20th century California fusion cuisine I found my entrance into the fantastical wonderland that is the Bay Area DJ community. And it was here where I first encountered the Space Cowboys. The subsequent years featured a significant increase of the color orange into my wardrobe, Halloween undergrounds, a Unimog, breakbeats (so. Many. Breakz!) renegades in Golden Gate Park, that thing in the desert, decompression/recompression, Love parades, rhinestones, Martha, NewsBreakz, heartbreakz. And yes, a New Year's Day sunrise party. It was a glorious time to be alive So I think it's fitting my first time back at BOC in *this many* years was the 25th anniversary. I was hella psyched to be on this years line up because, if I'm being perfectly honest, I have missed you all. Spinning this set was a true joy and it was an honor to be back with the original crew. -Smoove
This week on the RIPEcast we have Space Cowboy resident DJ Workr coming at you from New Year's Day. In his words, "Every Breakfast of Champions I'm invited to play is a special opportunity to showcase my favorite tracks from the past year. This year, I was honored with an afternoon set, which gave me the space to really open up my sound and rock the crowd in a way that felt true to the moment. I'm excited to share this live recording of that set with you, and I hope you can tap into the energy I was laying down. Enjoy the ride!" -WorkR
This week on the RIPEcast we bring you Sol direct from Breakfast of Champions with a stellar house and breaks set! From Sol, "There's no better way to start off the new year then a little party with a few thousand of your closest friends! Once again the weather was amazing and everyone was looking stellariffic! I worked on this set together for a while as I wanted to combine my love for both house and breakbeats for the last 25 years. I start it off with a few newer tracks then dropped into an old-school 90s breakbeat set in the middle and finally finishing it out with a couple of classic house bombs. Btw most of the tracks I played are tracks I either remixed or re-edited so they were just the way I like em! …Enjoy!"
This week on the RIPEcast an OG if there ever was one, Space Cowboys' 8Ball is on the decks live from the 25th edition of Breakfast of Champions. From @dj8ball, "25th Breakfast of Champions, and I've played 23 of them! I'd say “I'm too old for this shit” but the party's still going and it's still the best way to kick off the New Year in SF—hands freakin' down! About the mix: I brought a mix of new and old favs, and like last year I decided to pack the middle with drum n bass to keep folks steppin. There's also a quick tribute to breakbeat originator, Lennie Le Ice and his groundbreaking track “We Are E.I.”—I'll work the whole thing into another set down the road, but for now it's in the breakdown for “Feel It”. This year was the 25th anniversary of Breakfast of Champions and the 15th anniversary of my first time DJing the best party of the year. It was a thrill in 2009 and remains a thrill to this day. This week on the RIPEcast Space Cowboy resident rrrrus in March live at the Rhythm Society quarterly. From the man himself “Back in 1998 rrrus nervously took the decks for the first time ever in front of a crowd in a small church in SF's mission district for one of the first Rhythm Society events. 26 years, a bunch of ANDCs, Burning Mans, Breakfasts of Champions, campouts, and a few naps later rrrus is back to give his home spiritual community a groovy bumping hug. Let's get busy.”
Daybreakers at Oracle Park was an absolutely blast! I didn't record the set live, but here's most of what I played and some of what I didn't from a warm up set I captured before the party. Enjoy! - 8b
This week on the RIPEcast Space Cowboys are happy to have Defkon of Breaks and Bangers out of New York. His set was recorded live from Birds of a Feather. In his own words "Based in Brooklyn, Defkon has hit the ground running to bring high-energy dance music back to New York. He takes pride in representing his love for West Coast house and booty breaks, delivering that sound to the northeast. He is known for dropping guaranteed nasty & dirty beats to keep the dance floor on fire. Defkon operates with an abundance attitude mindset through his event Breaks & Bangers, where he brings DJ's together to collaborate and create bumpin' booty-shaking experiences for friends old and new." -Defkon
On this week's RIPEcast our close friend and PInk Mammoth resident DJ Jonathan Will with a live set poolside from Birds of a Feather 2024. From Jonathan, "This mix comes from closing out the pool party at the famed Birds of A Feather event on Saturday. There was so many things I liked about this party, different crews that don't always get to play or be together because they do separate events, friends I hadn't seen in years, bird puns (upon puns) for days, and great peeps. Special thanks to all the organizers that put it on and was honored to be amongst a killer set of djs with eclectic sounds. It was one for the bird books. Hope you enjoy." July... just... eeeeesh. Maybe some drum n bass will help. - 8b
Love is in the air! On this episode of the Space Cowboys RIPEcast, we're bringing you Leyl Master Black's disco house set from her Wedding Disco After Party at Natoma Cabana. Here's what she had to say about it: "What a privilege to get to celebrate my wedding weekend with so many of my favorite people (and Space Cowboys DJs!) Of course I had to spin a set at my own party… I kicked off the night with an hour of house and disco, then hit the dance floor with my honey for non-stop bootie-shaking business! Best party ever!"
Ain't a person who can't use a little more disco in their life. This set includes a bunch of disco and house tracks I played upstairs at Monarch SF last month for the Baby Weight party. Enjoy! - 8b
I was honored to be invited to spin a disco themed set for good friend and fellow Space Cowboy DJ Leyl Master Black for her wedding after party (Congrats Leyl & Mike!). I took the assignment seriously and so the next installment of Party People is here. Enjoy the pumping disco vibes!
Hella good time playing Bottlerock's 2024 Speakeasy! Shout out to Mo'Po and the HUSHconcerts crew for the invite and hospitality—they're the best at what they do and always great to hang out with. Played a lot of tech house, remixes, and lots of original edits and cheesy mashups. Enjoy! - 8b
This week on Space Cowboys RIPEcast we have the man I consider the holder of the House music championship belt our very own Brad Robinson. Coming at you with a live old school vinyl set! “The Birds of a Feather event was something really unique. To have so many of the old school Bay Area burning man crews pool their energy and resources to bring community together into one place, was just phenomenal. When Tamo first told me about the plans for the event, I got really excited, especially when she told me that there would be turntables poolside. I immediately started digging through my vinyl and reminiscing of the days when we would all dance together to these records. Each one of these tracks is like an old friend and getting to play them again for a dance floor of chosen family was a real treat. Thank you to all of the event planners who went above and beyond to create this very special weekend for us.”
On the RIPEcast this week close friend of ours Tadao! Recorded Live at Birds of a Feather 2024. Tadao became captivated by Breakbeats in the sands of the Black Rock desert in 2002. Years later he joined Strategik to help throw renegades and keep the Bay area Breaks scene vibrant. In the 2000 teens, the proliferation of Breaks in the Bay Area waned. Never content to stand on the sidelines, he jumped on the decks and founded Red Hot Beverly to help keep Breaks alive and well.
I had the pleasure of joining the flock for Birds of a Feather '24 with all-stars from some of my favorite Burning Man camps and Bay Area friends. It's a pleasure and honor to throw down with you all. 01 - ALRT - Spinback 02 - Dave Winnel - Bang It 03 - War - Low Rider (Kyle Watson Remix) 04 - Kelly Reverb & Chad LeMans - Vamonos 05 - No Thanks - Oldskool 06 - Hawke, God Within - Acid Funk (Rabbit In The Moon's Turn On Mix) 07 - Dillon Francis & Ship Wrek - Whole Lotta Drugs (Extended Mix) 08 - The Sponges - You Ready? 09 - Kyle Watson - The Reason (Extended Mix) 10 - SADYOUTH & Avenue - Next 2 11 - GENESI - Done 12 - LegacyOfficial, Curlyheads - Bounce 13 - Fomo, DLMT - Front to Back 14 - SQWAD & The Melody Men - You Ate That 15 - AYYBO - Rizz
The original idea was to post this around my birthday in March, after getting about halfway through I realized March wouldn't happen because... well, I was only about halfway through. I parked it to focus on other things. Then came incredibly sad news about friend and Space Cowboy, Danny. He was always a fan of the BBQ sets, and frequently asked when I'd get to another. Yesterday was Danny's birthday, so I carved out time and finished it up. Not perfect, but long af, and hopefully suitable for BBQing. RIP Danny, hope he bumps this at the big grill in the sky. XO, 8b
Space Cowboy resident Rumblemunk is up on this week's RIPEcast with his live set from Breakfast of Champions 2024! In his words "I'm not a turntable-ist or an OG breakbeat DJ/producer, but when your set is in between Cut Chemist and Elite Force, whaddya do? This set starts with a supporting MC, blazes through a mash-up of Drummatic Twins re-releases (thanks Nick), followed by my BOC 2023 release Shake That Thing, stops in with some Nick Thayer, bounces through my Eminight's Doom bootleg, then settles in for an Elite Force medley (thanks Simon) that ends with playing the CDJ like an instrument. Brass Monkey gets us back on track heading towards a half time grind and shake, then resetting with a classic breakbeat, ending with my latest release, a Tears For Fears bootleg. Thank you for all the love and support at this year's BOC. Hope you enjoy the set and the memories!" - Rumblemunk
Breakfast of Champions + It's a New Day is always the best party of the year and I love the event because it's indeed a new day and everyone is there full of optimism for a fresh start. It's always an honor to play there and it was also my first time playing on the Mog, about a decade after dancing to DJs on the Mog inspired me to DJ! This set harkens back to some of the breaks roots and also features an original track on an EP that was recently released (https://kevnull.bandcamp.com/album/how-about-drums) I hope you enjoy it! -kev/null
Not sure how it happens but this party just keeps getting better and better! The weather this year was amazing once again, the lineup was top notch and we had more people, more hugs and more love than ever before. Being one of the first few DJ's to get the party started I put together a head nodding chunky house set that blends into some tech house bombs and finally into some deep breaks at the end. So put on your headphones, crank that shit up and re-live this BOC + It's a New Day party starter set!! ps I'd like to send out mad love to all the early birds that came down to rock out with me for my 19th year!! ~Sol
Another one for the record books! Breakfast of Champions is always my favorite party of the year, and I love going all out with my set! This year was especially fun because I got to play on the Space Cowboys UNIMOG, which was freshly decked out with new video screens and amazing visuals. Thanks to everyone who came out to dance and celebrate with us! -Leyl Master Black
I am thrilled to invite you to experience the magic of my New Year's Day set at the iconic Breakfast of Champions party, hosted by the legendary DJ collective Space Cowboys. As a proud member of the Space Cowboys, curating this set was a labor of love, showcasing my favorite tech house tracks from the vibrant landscape of 2023. The Breakfast of Champions is not just a party; it's a testament to the Space Cowboys' commitment to a community that thrives on a shared passion of art, music and dance. Being a Space Cowboy is more than just a title; it's a badge of honor that represents a commitment to bringing joy to the people through music and dance. I am proud to have played a role in putting together this unforgettable event, where the beats echoed the spirit of unity and celebration. My thanks to the people who were there dancing in the street and you who are listening to this Ripecast. WorkR
This week on the RIPEcast is longtime Space Cowboy J9 the Angel. What can I say except that BOC is always my favorite party of the year because I get to see all of your beautiful faces! 2023 was particularly challenging for me, so it's all the more special start the year in this way and to receive so many hugs, and have such deep and meaningful conversation. The best part is always seeing your joy and dancing from behind the decks. We spend so much time crafting a set and experience that we think you'll enjoy, and the look on your faces is most certainly the payoff! I hope you'll enjoy listening to this mix and reliving the moments from that beautiful, sunny day. I was surrounded with family, from near and far, and I'm so grateful for each and every one of you, and for this experience, always. So much love, Janine Special thanks go out to all of my producer friends who provided the soundtrack for the day, namely Raul/83, Miguel/Elektroshock, and Fran/Banana Club Records. Your friendship and talent is a true gift!
The best way to start the new year is with all of your friends at Breakfast of Champions! I loved playing some of my favorite tracks old and new to a sweet vibing dance floor full of so many amazing friends. Live from BOC. I hope you enjoy the mix! - Tamo

Ayyyyy! If you were at Breakfast of Champions x It's a New Day this year, I hope you had as much fun as I did! I book-ended the party, mixing video on the Mog at the beginning and DJing on the BoC Space Stage to close the party out. Huge thanks to the happy crowd out there at the end—you made my night and helped kick off 2024 with an incredibly positive boost. Here's my set from the party! As usual, I put a lot into it—editing, layering samples and acapellas—and I was also inclined to detoured into DnB for a bit. Enjoy! XO, 8b

Hello Friends! I invite you to settle in for this new 'Electrovember' mix— a synth soundtrack for a digital Thanksgiving. This set's stuffed with blips, bleeps, acid, robots, and some surprises. Intended for listening while destroying a kitchen while cooking a big meal or coping with indigestion afterward. Spoon up an extra helpings of beats and raise a toast of gratitude with me! Here's to a holiday season with some electro flavor. Enjoy! 8b
This week, another poolside slammer from Fantastic Voyage's Giancarlo (@gots2be). Perfect sunny vibes to battle the SADs from summer being over. Crank it up and lay back! ☀️
Happy Rocktober, Friends! To celebrate, here's 178 minutes of rock edits and remixes of tracks across the decades! Some are monster jams, some are guilty pleasures, some are deep cuts, and a few are all of the above. Enjoy! - 8b
We're almost at Hoedown time! Before that, let's get y'all warmed up with some bassy pool-side vibes from none other than D2 (@d2thedj)! Here's what D2 had to say about the mix: "Hip-hop has been such an important part of my life driving me to find the origin of its samples, (which alone expanded my library), sparking my desire to play drums and telling stories that didn't necessarily relate to me but helped me develop strong compassion for others. I hope you enjoy the syncopated journey of drums and great MC's that I crafted just for Unison. " About D2: D2 has toured the world as a drummer playing almost every style of music. When the pandemic put a pause on her gigs, she decided to give the decks a spin and see if they would provide the musical fix her soul needed. They did. She's just getting started but excited to keep making booties shake for years to come. Space Cowboys are happy to have Qdup back playing our Haunted Hoedown part Saturday Oct. 28 at Great Northern. From the man himself "I put this mix together as I'm getting ready to come to SF and play Space Cowboy's Haunted Hoedown at the end of the month. I just made a breaks remix of Six Shooter specifically for the Hoedown that seemed appropriate. I included it in this mix along with a bunch of breaks and house tunes that are really hitting the spot for me right now. In my experience nobody does Halloween like SF and I'm stoked to come rock with Space Cowboys and come Hoedown with you all!"
We got loads more mixes frmo the Four Elements Campout thrown by our friends Unison and 3 Degrees. This week is a Saturday night set from Denver Drake (@doubledz-1) and it slays so hard you're going to need to do some cooldown stretches. Enjoy! Here's what Denver had to say about the mix: "This year's UNISON campout was so much fun! This set definitely has a lot of variety but also some of my favorite songs to dance to. Everyone at the campout brought their A game so hopefully I was able to step up!" About Denver Drake: Denver is Santa Cruz area DJ. He started DJing for family dance parties on an iPad and fell in love with all the crazy good electronic music that has been coming out for the last several years. He has done several weddings and school dances and loves to share music and show people a good time. New school house, bass house, tech house, g house, and occasionally breaks is on the menu for most of his favorite sets. He grew up listening to lots of hip hop and punk and tries to bring a level of fun and angst in every set. We back with more recordings from the Four Elements Campout this past summer. This time it's a blazing set from @djskinnyfat on Friday night. Once he lit the match, the rest of the night was straight fire. Enjoy the mix! Here's what he had to say about his set: "I got to play a main stage, earylish set at Unison Campout this year. I tried to recreate a special wow moment from the year before when listening to Nurse Noise giving everyone (and me!!) bass face but in my own bouncy style. I think I hit that stride about mid set! You be the judge." More from DJ SkinnyFAT: Soundcloud: soundcloud.com/djskinnyfat Facebook: facebook.com/edgar.blazona
