APP 005 Ray and Art discuss their time in Racetrack Playa and Eureka Dunes during their annual trip to Death Valley National Park. Discuss Low-Level Lighting, Vero, flashlights for light painting, and our take on using presets. With boring skies, we didn't find many compositions that incorporated an interesting sky. It was still nice to get out and explore the area, but with the rough ride to get to Racetrack, it might be a couple of years before Art heads back. Racetrack Playa has some brutal roads. Can be accessed by a regular passenger vehicle, but beware, there were numerous cars pulled over changing their flat tires. We had all-terrain tires and removed about 10 psi to make the ride a little more manageable. We camped at Homestake Dry Camp. It is a dry camp, so bring all the water you will need for your trip. Eureka Dunes is nice and secluded. This is another dry camp, and unfortunately, we lost our potable water due to a crack in the jug. We recommend a thick jerry can for maximum durability. Again, bring all your water you will need for your trip.
