Today we focus on Experiencing His Presence in the Hiding Place. In times of trouble WHERE are you going to TURN? We must come to our hiding place AND have a right perspective to experience victory. Pastor Alexander states, you will have a better perspective when you HIDE yourself in Christ and His Word, than in simply seeing things through your own physical senses. With discouragement our perspective is often distorted, but a presence driven person has a clear “RIGHT” perspective.

The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the most essential fact of our FAITH and it should make a significant difference in our LIVING. In John 14:19 Jesus said, “…Because I LIVE, You shall LIVE ALSO!” Pastor Alexander states, it’s one thing to believe in the resurrection (even the Devil believes in the fact of the resurrection), but it’s ANOTHER THING to ACT UPON what you believe.

In this study pastor Alexander talks about Embracing His Presence as Priests of God. In Christ we are a Holy Priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. How do we serve as priests? Just as the OT priests could not enter the holy place without taking off some things and putting on certain things (garments), we as NT priests also must also take off and put on certain things, clothing ourselves in the right spiritual garments to enter His Presence. Being clothed with the garments of honesty and humility is the KEY to embracing God’s Presence.

It is essential for us to make a PERSONAL PLACE for God’s presence. Psalmist called it dwelling in the secret place. But at the same time there is a very REAL DANGER of DRIFTING from His presence and actually DEPARTING from His Presence. In today’s message, pastor Alexander will identify some departure markers and substitutes for His Presence in our lives. Our focus today is on “RETURNING to the PLACE of HIS PRESENCE.”

Today we continue focusing on preparing a place for the presence of God. “If you dwell in His Presence, you also carry His Presence with you!” David prepared a place for the Ark (the presence of God) in the city of David. Pastor Alexander states, we too must prepare a place for His Presence in our own lives. Not a tent like David, but a personal place to dwell in His Presence.

When the presence of God comes upon an individual they are empowered, enabled, equipped, encouraged, covered, and inspired, to move to accomplish great things for God. But we must have a passion for His Presence. God wants us to change our passion for the empowering presence of God. Pastor Alexander explains that it’s OUR CHOICE what we are passionate for. We need to choose His Empowering Presence!

Within the book of James, we find one of the GREATEST invitations ever issued, James 4:8 - “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” The Creator of the universe, the earth, and all its inhabitants, DESIRES YOUR PRESENCE. Not only YOUR presence, but He desires to be INTIMATELY CLOSE to you. Pastor Alexander begins this first Sunday of the year inviting you to become a God Chaser. God OFTEN WAITS until we are HUNGRY enough FOR Him, to PURSUE Him and RECOGNIZE Him and WELCOME Him before He RESPONDS to us.

If Christmas is all about loving and giving, then why can’t we have the Christmas spirit all year long? Pastor Alexander shares three gifts that God gave to us on that first Christmas in the giving of His Son, but He waits to see what we will do with it! Will you accept God’s gift, or reject it? It’s your choice!

In the narrative of Christ’s birth, God chooses to make the most important birth announcement in all of history to lowly shepherds. They were the marginalized, the overlooked of society, yet that’s who God used to proclaim Christ’s coming! God is in the business of taking nobodies and making them into somebodies to share the good news of His Coming! Pastor Alexander states, If God can used shepherds, THEN God can use anyone! He can even use YOU! AND Just like the shepherds, ALL are INVITED to WORSHIP.
