Magnus is disappointed. James is busy and can't take him out to try his ‘superflyer' kite that Magnus has made from a broken umbrella. Suki is admiring the kite as Mack passes, and offers to take Magnus to the beach to try to fly it. Magnus is delighted. At the beach they try to launch and fly the kite several times, but each time the kite just falls to the ground. Mack thinks there's a problem with the design of the kite. Magnus is despondent, but Mack tells him that when he used to make kites he was not always successful first time. Sometimes he needed to change his design, and maybe that's what Magnus needs to do. They try to fly the kite one last time with disastrous consequences. Magnus asks if Mack will take him back to the Hub and help him re-think it. Mack agrees. They return to the beach with the new kite, proving that you don't always get things right first time.
