Die Sportzone Andermatt ist das letzten Puzzlestück im Masterplan. Es ist ein Platz mit viel Raum für Begegnungen und Sport - und sie soll Andermatt Dorf und Andermatt Reuss räumlich und sozial verbinden.Das Sportzentrum war bereits im Masterplan von 2008 vorgesehen. Aus der ursprünglichen Idee eines Hallenbads mit Fitness- und Spa-Bereich ist ein vielseitiger Ort für Sport, Freizeit, Familien und Schlechtwetterangebote entstanden. Projektleiter David Jiranek erklärt, weshalb die Sportzone als letztes fehlendes Puzzlestück in der Masterplanentwicklung gilt und welche Herausforderungen mit den unterschiedlichen Bedürfnissen verbunden sind. Geplant sind unter anderem eine Kletterhalle, Fitness- und Bewegungsräume, ein Freizeitzentrum mit Restaurant, Kids Club und Bowling, eine Wasserwelt mit Familienbad, Aussenbad und 25-Meter-Pool, Spa, Padelplätze, ein Multisportfeld sowie ein Aussen-Eisfeld und ein Eventplatz.Auch die Bevölkerung wurde in die Weiterentwicklung einbezogen. Die Gemeinde Andermatt führte eine Online-Umfrage und einen öffentlichen Workshop durch. Gemeindepräsident Peter Baumann spricht darüber, weshalb die Sportzone auch für das Zusammenwachsen von Andermatt eine zentrale Rolle spielt.Für Samih Sawiris ist das Projekt ein wesentliches Versprechen, das nun eingelöst wird. Er erklärt, weshalb es richtig war, keine Minimallösung umzusetzen, sondern das Sportzentrum grösser, vielseitiger und langfristiger zu denken.Wenn alles planmässig verläuft, soll die Baueingabe in den nächsten Wochen erfolgen. Die Bauarbeiten sind für das kommende Jahr vorgesehen, die Eröffnung aus heutiger Sicht für 2032/33.

Welcome to the Let It Fly Show. This week, President and General Manager of the Omaha Storm Chasers, Martie Cordaro joins the Let It Fly Show. Martie has been with the Omaha Storm Chasers for nearly 20 years, and reflects on everything from that time, ranging from changes in the baseball scene, the origin of Werner Park, and the importance of the connection between the Storm Chaser and the Kansas City Royals.

Making observations in nature isn't just about what we see. Scientists use (almost) all of their senses to make observations, and in this video, we are focusing on the sense of touch. After exploring nature through sight, sound, and smell, it's now time to focus on the textures of nature and discover how different plants, surfaces, and organisms actually feel. Make sure to watch the ENTIRE video and read ALL of the text here for best practices for you and wildlife, as well as helpful apps to identify organisms.In this activity, I challenge you to head outside and search for as many different textures as you can find in nature. Can you find something rough like bark? Soft like moss? Fuzzy, smooth, or prickly? Even in wintertime, you'll find lots of different textures to explore!IMPORTANT: Before touching anything, make sure you know what wildlife in your area could be harmful, such as poison ivy or venomous animals. If you're ever unsure about an organism, don't touch it.Some organisms may surprise you! For instance, I talk about the cup plant, which has leaves that feel like tough sandpaper.Even in wintertime, you'll find lots of different textures to explore!IMPORTANT: Before touching anything, make sure you know what wildlife in your area could be harmful, such as poison ivy or venomous animals. If you're ever unsure about an organism, don't touch it. Tools like the Seek by iNaturalist app can assist with identifications through their built-in AI system. IMPORTANT: When it comes to animals, completely avoid touching mammals and birds, as this can harm them. Some amphibians, reptiles, and insects may be handled carefully if they are safe and non-venomous, and any animal you handle should be handled minimally and released afterward to reduce stress on the animal. Wear gloves when handling amphibians to protect their sensitive skin.Observing nature through touch and the other senses helps kids slow down and mindfully engage with their surroundings. I invite you to ask your children to reflect not only on WHAT they feel, but HOW they feel. For instance, how does being in nature make your child feel? Calm? Curious? Scientists use most of their senses to conduct observations, a critical step in conducting research, and one of those senses is SMELL. We might not think of nature as being smelly, but we get so many of our everyday smells from nature. From the scents in our perfumes, deodorants, or candles to bringing nature into our homes to change the smell (think flowers or pine branches during the holidays) to our cleaning products, nature provides an abundance of smells. In this video, you'll learn about the different smells in nature and be prompted to step outside and start observing the natural world, focusing on your sense of smell to discover things you've never noticed before. Go on a "Smelling Safari" and see how many different scents your nose can pick up!In addition to the good smells of nature, there are also many that aren't so good. While in high school, she did an internship at the Fox news station on Tudor Road where she still is today. Trill became famous in the early '90s as "Kiddie Fox" on the "Fox 4 Kids Club" TV show. We talk about that experience and how unlikely it would be for that type of broadcast to thrive today. When her four kids were young, Trill left TV news and went to work as an elementary school teacher and later as a school librarian in the Anchorage School District. In 2022, she returned to ABC/Fox to anchor the evening news. We talk about how TV news has evolved and where it's headed.
