Cody and Jimbo sit down with one of the greatest tie-down ropers, Olin Young. But most people may not know that he also won two world titles in steer roping. A superb all-around athlete, Young approached everything he did with the skill and technique of a craftsman, even when he was building corrals. Most of Young's competitors believe he would have won several more championships had he traveled more on ProRodeo's steer roping circuit. Also, in 1971, Young became the first to win four aggregate titles in tie-down roping at the National Finals Rodeo, which has since been matched by Joe Beaver (1996), Roy Cooper (1999) and Fred Whitfield (2002). He was New Mexico's Athlete of the Year in 1970. He was born Sept. 11, 1936, in Lovington, N.M. New episodes released every Thursday!

Jake was one of the top bull riders in the 1950's, while his son, J Paul, was one of the top steer ropers of the 1990's and 2000's. This is one of our favorite episodes that we have recorded to date. We recorded this a while back, and since then, Jake has passed on to greener pastures. We are resharing this episode because it is a favorite, and to keep Jake's memory alive.

Don't miss this week's episode of “The Cowboys of the Osage podcast”, as the boys sit down with 3-time NFR bull rider, Ervin Williams. Ervin tells how he went from a boy with a dream, practicing on a bucking barrel in his backyard of north Tulsa, to riding bulls at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. He rode against some of the best bull riders of all time and got on some of the all-time rankest bulls. He even had us laughing out loud at some of his stories. Ervin rode in arguably the toughest era in bull riding history, and more than held his own, finishing as high as third in the world standings in 1989. What a nice, humble man, whose story you sure won't want to miss!
We're very proud of law enforcement here at the Ben Johnson Cowboy Museum, and this week Cody and Jimbo visit with retired Chief of the Tulsa Police Department, Chuck Jordan. Listen in as the Chief talks about his 50 years in law enforcement, including his 10 years as Tulsa's head man. He talks about a few of the high profile cases he was involved in over the years, and some of the changes in the department under his tenure. He also talks about some of the early infamous bad guys connected to the Tulsa area from back in the day. Chief Jordan is one of the most highly regarded Police Chiefs in Tulsa history, and a really nice man. We think you'll like this one.
Look who dropped by the Ben Johnson Cowboy Museum for a podcast! None other than James Allen. James sits down with Cody and his dad, Rocky, to talk steer roping and rodeo. James was a 9-time National Finals steer roper, and he won the NFSR average, held in Pawhuska, in 1971. He won or placed at every steer roping in the country over a long successful career. He was also quite a hand in the boardroom, serving as PRCA steer roping director for 3 terms. He took steer roping from 10 approved rodeos to a total of 53 by the end of his tenure! He also raised two great ropers in 18-time world champion, Guy Allen, and his brother, multiple-time NFSR qualifier, Gip Allen. Wow! What a steer roping legacy. You'll love this one!
