Author Peg Herring Peg Herring is a former educator who lives in northern Lower Michigan. Her Tudor mysteries starring Princess/Queen Elizabeth garnered nice reviews from Booklist, Kirkus, New York Journal of Books, and Library Journal. The first book of her paranormal series, The Dead Detective Agency, received a Best Mystery of the Year Award from EPIC. In 2014 Peg stole her grandmother's name and started writing cozy mysteries. Since then, Peg has written women's fiction and suspense while Maggie Pill writes cozies. Sponsored by Moravian Sons Distillery and Doc Chavent. Kip Morgan is a fake with worries...and they're multiplying. Kip Morgan is a con artist who urgently needs to elude the authorities. He sees an ad from a firm seeking a private investigator in a new town with a new name. Kip applies, figuring he knows as much about crime as most detectives, though from a different vantage point. Kip gets the job at Waite Investigations because his new bosses, Jocelyn and Maureen Waite, have figured out that clients look for youngish male P.I.s, not two sixty-plus women too easily dismissed as "little old ladies." Though he has plans to acquire a chunk of their fortune, Kip finds there's a lot more to the Waites than he'd imagined. As he tries to adjust to fussy Mo and quiet Jo, a houseful of secrets soon gets out of hand, and Kip the Conman has a lot more to worry about than being exposed as a FAKE. Listen in for a chance to win a signed copy of FAKE.

SHOWNOTES Great Scott! We've a new season of Discovery starting this week and Miles and Charlie want in on all the possible synergy and sponsorship deals talking about BRAND NEW STAR TREK should entail. But we weren't invited to the premier and Miles has just discovered ‘Taskmaster' so he has no time to fly anywhere, but what they do have is the Trailer on YouTube and they spend a lot of time on YouTube. So our brave explorers have picked three episodes which might have a connection to what might happen in the show. In ‘Captain's Holiday,' we see Picard take the right holiday on the wrong planet, in ‘Reflections,' Boimler and Mariner attend a Job's Fair while Rutherford discovers he's not the man he used to be, or thought he used to be and in ‘Minefield,' we see Reed be THE MOST BRITISH MAN in Star Trek as we finally tackle the prequel episode to ‘Dead Stop' (See our 2023 Halloween Episode- Holodeck of Horror') as we prepare to hit our 100th episode episode of Star Trek next episode! Captain's Holiday: 00:16:45 Reflections: 00:43:23 Minefield: 01:05:22 TALKING POINTS INCLUDE: Professor Benny Summerfield, Dune Part 2, how we sometimes don't look at the knock-on effects of flops on art, Dune 2's white saviour narrative, Christopher Walken giving no fucks, Miles' Walken impression if lackluster, changes to Dune, Miles can't tell what will or will not scare his wife anymore, ‘I Love Rock ‘N Roll' WASN'T by Aerosmith? That's news to Miles! DRINKING GAME: Take a shot every time Miles says the phrase ‘Such and Such wants to ride Picard's Sexy Bald Head.' Patrick Stewart has, by this point in the show, become a damn maniac, Patrick Stewart's infidelities, less complext Farenghi, the Bill and Ted school of Time-Travelling Archeology, Patrick Stewart's ego, Gene is complicated sexually, Miles needs to cut Twitter out, Lewis Capaldi might be the next Ed Sheeran. One more ALLAMARAINE. Jerky Tech-Bro Rutherford, Miles is very eagle-eyed when it comes to the show dropping hints, AM= After Moopsy. Fantastic Store was a Brighton-based comic shop in the 90s that sadly closed by decade's end. Miles has made another Starbucks think they're cursed. How the uniforms have some character to them. Charlie has played GURPS, Bowie and Waites, not great shop music, the episode stops dead as Miles and Charlie count how many episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise they've each recapped, Miles sings a little song, no, it's not the theme tune to Blake's 7. Shadey Romulan Tech (not Tek), Reed is a self-sacrificing smeghead, he's also too British, Charlie started reading 2000ad, chunky tech and props, one of our mission statements was to find GOOD episodes of Enterprise and we have. We've now almost seen ONE EIGHTH of Star Trek, for better or worse.

Keisha Sean Waites is stepping down from her seat as the Post 3 At-Large member of the Atlanta City Council. Waites talks with Rose Scott about her decision to now run for the Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts. She also discusses the highlights of her time in office, as well as her frustrations. Rose recently talked with organizers of the "Leave it Blank" campaign from the Listen to Georgia Coalition. The new coalition is asking for Democratic primary voters to leave their ballot blank when they head to the polls. Coalition representatives say it's an attempt to put pressure on President Joe Biden for a permanent ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. Now, GSU Clinical Assistant Professor Tammy Greer returns to “Closer Look,” to give political analysis on whether a protest vote can be effective. Tracy Waites has been called a porn star by Todd Chrisley on his last podcast before going to prison and her husband Josh Waites is being sued by Todd Chrisley while he sits in Jail. They are the unassuming collateral damage in the true crime story of Todd and Julie Chrisley. Tracy Waites sets the record straight on her husband Josh Waites who was the ex Director of the Department of Revenue of Georgia who busted the Chrisley's for State tax evasion, but then suffered massive retaliation from the Chrisley Family and their lawyers. All of which almost cost him his freedom through an indictment but what is the truth here. Why did the jurors come up with a unanimous verdict of malicious prosecution in releasing him. Is there some other corruption going on here that the Jury saw through in the allegations against Josh. Was the Chrisley's attack on Josh Waites a means to an end for someone other then the Chrisleys? Ben Waites: Leaping into Destiny Despite Disabilities and LimitationsWhat is the one physical or mental limitation that you believe is keeping you from taking the leap? Our guest today will share how his choice to leap despite his limitations landed him on national television.Ben's Bio:Ben Waites is a husband and singer who was born with arthrogryposis, and while his body may be bound to a wheelchair, his spirit is soaring through the gift of song. In December of 2010, Ben graduated from Louisiana College with an interdisciplinary concentration of music, communications, and theater arts. Ben Waites, a competitor from America's Got Talent Season 17 (2022), is our guest today. Ben was born with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, which required him to use a wheelchair. Despite this, he has never encountered a challenge he couldn't overcome. Jim Waites, Ben's grandfather, led him to faith at a young age, introduced him to the sounds of Southern gospel. Since then, Ben's music has been described as "blues meets jazz meets southern gospel." His sincere delivery and powerful vocals enthrall audiences around. Fans often describe Ben's music as "anointed worship" that "draws the Holy Spirit." So let's give Ben Waites a hearty welcome to Autism Rocks and Rolls. https://benwaites.com/home
This show came together in a wyrd way. I was planning on inviting each of them on for separate podcasts, yet before I could, on Twitter we were all tagged in a post asking when I was going to have them on. So we decided to turn it into a trialogue of sorts. If you aren't familiar with SJ or Dan, they've been creating this wonderful series on Youtube about the astrology of the 2020's. Link to that below. And here is our conversation. Canadian artist Boyd Waites has always been most interested in our natural surroundings and people, as well as people's impact on the landscape. He is not interested in faithfully depicting a particular place, his work could be categorized broadly as Abstract Expressive Landscape. Boyd keeps inside emotions and feelings about places and my own experiences or inner reactions and their memories. My guest today is audiobook narrator Todd Waites, who explains what really happens in the studio when recording an audiobook. And he's here to say - it's not that easy! Sure, it seems like so at first, but Todd takes us on a step by step audiobook process - from the first audition to final chapter recording - where you finally understand the time and energy it takes to make a successful audiobook. This busy Texas narrator whose credits include After the Apocalypse (a zombie apocalypse thriller) by Warren Hately and Prison Days (a true crime biography) by Simon King, explains all the important details in producing audiobooks (many which happen before stepping into the studio); understanding the differences between reading a book versus reading a commercial, and how to be your own engineer and producer (in addition to being talent!). He also covers topics such as character voice development, point of view, auditions, and the importance of training (before recording that very first audiobook). Bring along your love of storytelling and prepare to learn what it takes to be a successful audiobook narrator!
Author and journalist Brian Hicks discusses his book “In Darkest South Carolina: J. Waties Waring and the Secret Plan That Sparked a Civil Rights Movement.” Taking listeners on a trip around Charleston, South Carolina, Hicks recounts the stories and pivotal locations that marked Waring's progression from privileged member of Charleston's white establishment to his years as a student at the College of Charleston to his roller coaster career as a federal judge. Waring put his and his family's life at risk by working from inside the judicial system to bend the law in favor of equality for African Americans and helped lay the groundwork for the 1954 landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision Brown v. Board of Education.

What happens when a black man questions the wisdom of chocolate band-aids on fecebook? Nina suggests “fitting in” is a neoliberal Capitalist plot, while Chris learns he is "privileged" to not have to think about race constantly, unlike his long-suffering liberal white allies. The Dorx also discuss how people suppress their individuality within tribes; the difference between allies and friends; “Golem-ing”; getting drunk on White Guilt; and Corinna's Black Power Fist facial tattoo.
