Y'all, I'm still catching my breath from one of the most electric weeks in women's rodeo history. In this episode of In The LOOP, I sat down with Sammy Jo Smith and Lindsay Rosser-Sumpter to break down everything that went down at the 2025 Women's Rodeo World Championships—and let me tell you, it was one for the books.AT&T Stadium was absolutely booming. From start to finish, it felt like the entire sport of women's rodeo leveled up. We saw Limited, Challenger, and Pro athletes compete side-by-side on the biggest stage, and it was clear—we're not just “in the loop”… we're leading it.Charmaine Holdren gave me goosebumps in the barrel race, nearly winning it all as a Limited athlete. Ashton Pratts and Tammy Lewis teaming up and taking the win was such a powerful moment—one that reminded me just how much legacy and future can exist in the same arena. We also got real about what it takes behind the scenes to bring an event like this to life. From months of Zoom calls and logistics to working with amazing partners like PBR, WCRA, and Cowboy Channel, this was the biggest and best WRWC yet.And we're already charging into 2026. More events. More opportunities. Double points. Bigger payouts. Our partnership with NBHA is creating new doors for barrel racers. Chris Neal Productions is bringing in more chances for breakaway ropers, and the Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway is changing the game completely. If you're a cowgirl dreaming of a bigger platform, or you're someone who believes in the power of this sport—we've got a place for you. The momentum is real, and it's only growing.Tune in, subscribe, and come along. This is just the beginning. In The LOOP Podcast hosted by Jordan Jo Hollabaugh, is inspired by the western culture and breakaway roping lifestyle. Chris Weaver & the Cowboys talk saddles, industry growth, and what makes the Cowboy Lifestyle so special. Parents, you'll want to catch this one. We sometimes forget the benefits of being in the horse industry and living the cowboy lifestyle. Kids receive lasting impact including: a sense of responsibility, self-discipline and respect. Never underestimate the power of good people speaking into the lives of youth. We cover a lot of ground in this episode: Seeds of industry growth Breaking barriers to entry Challenging the idea that horses are an “expensive” sport The dual responsibility of sponsorship The importance of stewardship Supporting the next generation Ensuring the future of the cowboy lifestyle Chris Weaver, VP at Bob's Custom Saddles, has an extensive background as a horseman in the stock horse industry as well as years of experience in business and manufacturing. He joins Brian Dygert & Jody Brainard to share the history and vision of Bob's Custom Saddles and discuss the growth and future of the equine industry as a whole. Bob's created a strong foundation based on quality materials while supporting all levels of riders and disciplines within the western working horse industry. Passion for their product and the people they serve is apparent as Chris talks about stewarding their identity and the importance of passing on the values of the cowboy lifestyle to the next generation. About Bob's Custom Saddles Bob's focus when creating a custom saddle is to fit the horse, fit the rider, improve ride-ability You have to answer at least 15 questions when ordering a Bob's Custom Saddle Bob's has used the same tree manufacturer and Hermann Oak leather since it's inception 47 years ago Exhibitors have won an estimated $24M in Bob's Custom Saddles If you have a serial number, Bob's can tell you exactly when the saddle was made and for who How Does Industry Growth Occur and What Challenges Do We Face? The Cowboys respond to a question from a listener: How does rapid growth and outside interest in our sport affect the industry? Growth comes from many sources: product, passion, and organic growth from outside sources (think Yellowstone & The Cowboy Channel). Interest in the western lifestyle is strong and enthusiasm is at a high with more spectator-driven events being offered. But there is an inherent challenge for many of the performance horse disciplines. Many performance events can be difficult to understand and appreciate unless you are already educated in the rules, judging practices, and understand “quality” for that specific event. Educating the audience and bringing awareness to how the event is judged is required for spectators to truly enjoy the event. Another barrier to growth is the expense of getting started. If you already know and love the industry, have roots in it, and have the passion to compete, you don't mind trading in a vacation home, boat, or fancy car for your horse, training fees, board, entry fees, etc. But what about those who are just getting started? They may not even be sure this “horse thing” is for them. How do they get started without investing substantial amounts of money? And finally, why do people leave the industry? That may be a question for another time, but it's one that is important to understand if the equine industry is going to continue to experience healthy growth. The voice of Pro Rodeo, Announcer, and TV host on the Cowboy Channel, but most of all a great guy and friend of the Podcast. Justin McKee
Jeff Medders, the President of Cowboy Channel, is interviewed by Chris Dawson and Russell Dilday. Growing up on a cattle ranch in southeastern Oklahoma, Medders had a passion for rodeo and all sports in general. He was an all-state football player in 1981 and headed to college to pursue his dream of being a television sportscaster. All was going according to plan until 1989, when he was approached by a Tulsa-based company to host America's Horse, AQHA's new television show on ESPN. Soon after, his hosting role grew to include the Wrangler World of Rodeo and the National Finals Rodeo. Having grown up in Oklahoma and attending the NFR in Oklahoma City every year, it was a dream come true. Over the next two decades, Medders' resume grew by hosting thoroughbred racing and LPGA golf coverage on ESPN, poker, and motorcycle racing on CBS Sports, but nothing tamed his passion for the sport of rodeo and the National Finals Rodeo. Today his company, Geronimo Productions, produces more major cowboy events than any other production company in the nation. Championship Bull Riding on Fox, Cinch High School Rodeo Tour on RFD-TV, and of course, all of the PRCA's events on CBS Sports Network, including the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Jeff Medders has been the television host for over 20 National Finals Rodeos. Martin Saddlery: (888) 308-2386 www.martinsaddlery.com
