Creepin' It Real is a brutally honest paranormal/history/debunking podcast by Ivy Boyd that exposes the truth behind some of the worlds most popular myths!
In this very bittersweet episode, I will be doing my best to expose one last issue in the world of the paranormal; the lack of representation for female investigators on TV. This is an issue that I will putting more time into changing as I do my best to help transform this field. In the mean time, feel free to follow me on this paranormal journey via my new project, Ghouls Trip, that I have started with my friend and fellow female investigator, Hannah. Also keep on eye on the Creepin' It Real instagram page, there is chance I will be returning again if the pandemic carries on... www.ghoulstrip.blog instagram.com/creepinitrealthpodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
Mrs. H and her family found themselves moving into a home riddled with strange, unexplainable activity; from phantom footsteps to ghostly apparitions, it seemed to only get worse and worse. But the real cause for this haunting was unexpected, and this story serves as a reminder that you should never assume something is 100% paranormal. It could potentially cost you your life... instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
The story of Elizabeth Bathory (the "Blood Countess") is one that gets told often among my fellow creeps. Even I was familiar with this story...or so I thought. After doing further research, I came across more details about the story of Elizabeth Bathory that don't get shared often in good detail... instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
Dressing in costumes and going door to door for candy is something that most of us have done as children for Halloween, but have you ever stopped to wonder why we do it? instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
As I mentioned in the previous episode, Halloween as we typically celebrate it used to be the Celtic "Samhain", so where did the name "Halloween" come from? instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast
Carving out pumpkins has been a long-time Halloween tradition, but are you aware of how it started? Why is it that we purchase large orange fruits and carve faces into them? Be sure to check out one of my new favorite spooky podcasts called Murder Mythtery; who's promo is featured in the begging of this episode! instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
Did you know that witches actually spend much of their time CURSING Halloween candy? Well, according to Kimberly Daniels they do...but could this be true? Am I, a practicing witch, secretly cursing your Halloween sweets and treats? I guess you will have to listen to find out... instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
Double, double toil and trouble! For the second part in my witch myths series, I will be going over the ingredients typically used by witches in movies and in books (such as human body parts) and explaining what they REALLY were... instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
What's up creeps? For the first part of this mini-series I will be discussing the classic depiction of witches flying on broomsticks! I am sure you are aware that they were never actually flying through the sky...but the truth behind this depiction of witches and why we associate them with broomsticks might still surprise you! (I'll warn you, things get a little NSFW...) instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
Vic Tandy was working in a lab at Warwick University when he began to notice strange paranormal activity going on around him. This wasn't too surprising, considering that not too far away was the cellar of the Coventry Cathedral where a similar haunting was going on. Vic, being a skeptical person, did some investigating around these hauntings and discovered the silent perpetrator behind them... instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
After the sadness and intensity of episode 19, I decided to keep episode 20 a little more on the light-hearted side. (Just a little...) The Sallie House is one of my favorite haunted locations, but almost everything that you may have heard about this house is a lie. If you are interested in some of my personal encounters and evidence gathered at this location, check out my new blog https://ghoulstrip.blog which also contains much of the information I shared in this episode. instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
The story of Anneliese Michel is often regarded as one of the most terrifying real cases of demonic possession ever recorded. But if you ask me, the humans that were involved in this case were far more scary than any real demon could ever be, and the truth behind this young woman and her death is beyond heartbreaking... instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
This is a very bittersweet episode for both Ivy and Kenzi! Ivy starts us out with one of her favorite modern ghost stories...the Dear David Twitter thread! Next, Kenzi talks about John and Wayne Carter, the two famous murderers/vampires from New Orleans! We also have some exciting news for a new upcoming paranormal investigation at a location we have covered and discussed numerous times on this podcast, and then end the episode with some slightly sad news...but don't worry! We will still stay spooky...and you can't get rid of us for long! Located in Kansas City is the beautiful Sauer Castle. But don't be fooled by its charm, because according to local legends it holds a dark past full of secrets, murder, and paranormal activity...or that's what they say at least. But what's the real story behind this small decaying Kansas City castle? Could it be haunted? instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
What's up ghouls? We have a slightly different episode ready for ears, so buckle up! Kenzi starts us out with some spooky creepypasta vibes and reads us the Gregory Twitter thread. Next, Ivy gives us the short and not-so-sweet story of Saint Catherine! Stay tuned until the very end for a good tip on how to purpose to your lady...and don't worry, its budget friendly! You are welcome. instagram.com/twhpodcast facebook.com/twhpodcast mailto:twhpodcast13@gmail.com
It was 1692 in Salem, Massachusetts. Citizens of Salem were being prosecuted left and right for being accused of practicing witchcraft, or that's at least what everyone thought. But what you might not know is that this wasn't actually about witches or witchcraft at all, and a lot of people knew that. Although we don't know the absolute truth, we do have evidence supporting other theories, and the real motives behind these innocent killings might shock you... instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast
The ghouls are finally back in the studio together again! For this weeks episode, we start off by discussing the current hoax that Annabelle ran away.(Seriously though Annabelle, if you are reading this, you can actually run away and come live with Ivy and her haunted dolls...) Then Ivy gets going on the history of the Lizzie Borden murders and the haunted happenings that occur inside the home! Next, Kenzie goes over the story of Countess Elizabeth Báthory and the Čachtice Castle! This one will come with a warning though because we discuss some truly brutal methods of torture. The Snedeker family moved into a home that was previously used as a funeral home. A series of terrifying paranormal events began to take place, so they asked Ed and Lorraine Warren for help. If you listened to episode 6 of this podcast, then these names might sound familiar because the Warrens were also involved with the Amityville Horror. So if they were involved in one fake story, could they have been involved in another? Was the Snedeker family actually being haunted? instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
In this weeks episode, Kenzi goes over the lore behind Huldufolk: a.k.a. the Hidden Folk, which are very interesting and mischievous little elves from Iceland! (Sexy Gollum from Lord of the Rings is probably one of them...) Next, Ivy goes over the brief yet mysterious story of the Oakville Blobs, which were a strange clear substance that rained down over Oakville, Washington. Was it just weird poop and pee? Was it government testing? Who knows... instagram.com/twhpodcast facebook.com/twhpodcast mailto:twhpodcast13@gmail.com
Stull Cemetery, which is also known as the "Gateway to Hell", is a notoriously haunted location with many dark legends attached to it, including legends that involve Satan himself. This location is also local to me and it is something that I have known about ever since I was a kid, so you can imagine my surprise when I found out that everything I thought I knew about it wasn't true... instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
For this weeks episode, we start off with a demonic washing machine that is afflicting Kenzi in her new apartment. (Someone send us a few gallons of holy water so she can run a load!) Silly banter aside, Ivy gives us our second werewolf story and tells us about the legend of the Morbach Monster! Next, Kenzi talks about the tragic story of James Dean and the supposed curse that followed him and his car, Little Bastard. And in an exciting twist, the Curse of Kenzi saga continues when we accidentally uncover more details throughout the episode about the curse that is following her! instagram.com/twhpodcast facebook.com/twhpodcast mailto:twhpodcast13@gmail.com
For my longest episode to date, I go over the story of one of the most famous haunted houses in America: Willows Weep. This home was rumored to have so much paranormal activity that it attracted the producers of the TV show "The UnXplained" who featured it in an episode in 2019, and the current owner, Dave Spinks, wrote a book about the house and the hauntings inside as well. But this house isn't all that it seems, and I am joining countless other people and paranormal investigators in the attempt to expose it for what it really is... instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
This episode has EVERYTHING you need to have a scary good time. Want to know what you can do to smell like Zak Bagans? We will tell you. Want to hear a story about a shadow figure in a cozy flannel? We got that too! These listener stories had us genuinely freaked out while we recorded, so keep sending them in and we would love to make these episodes a regular thing! instagram.com/twhpodcast facebook.com/twhpodcast mailto:twhpodcast13@gmail.com
Carl Pruitt didn't let his death stop his murderous tendencies, and it is said that anyone who disrespected his gravesite met a terrible fate. This urban legend has an incredible amount of detail and is very believable, but does that make it true? If not, is there any truth behind this legend at all? instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
What's up witches? In this weeks episode, Ivy takes us to Hollywood and goes over the history of The Viper Room and the hauntings that occur inside! (Johnny Depp, please don't sue us!) Next, Kenzi shares some Native American mythology and talks about the Thunderbird, and some of its supposed modern sightings! Bear with us for this episode, we concluded that Kenzi is cursed, and her throat decided to betray her whilst recording. (It's not covid, we promise!) instagram.com/twhpodcast facebook.com/twhpodcast mailto:twhpodcast13@gmail.com
According to legend, the Rake is a disturbing humanoid creature that has been afflicting people for centuries. And as if it isn't creepy enough, many people have claimed to capture it on camera for everyone to see for themselves. But are these videos proof that the Rake is real? Could such a creature really exist? In this episode, I do my best to uncover the truth behind these videos and share the real origin of this horrifying beast... instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
For this weeks episode, Kenzi goes over the odd history and hauntings at the Pottawattamie County Jail! Next, Ivy tells us about a wonderful woman known as Hannah Cranna...a.k.a. the Wicked Witch of Monroe! (We firmly believe that this has to be one of Kenzi's many past lives...) instagram.com/twhpodcast facebook.com/twhpodcast mailto:twhpodcast13@gmail.com
Urban legend says that a bus full of children fatally crashed along a particular stretch of road in Antioch, California, and anyone who leaves their car in neutral at the bottom will watch in fear as the ghosts of these dead children push their car slowly up-hill. As we know, most urban legends are works of fiction...but even if this urban legend is fake, what true events could have inspired it? Are these cars really moving on their own? instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
What's up ghouls? In this weeks episode, Ivy takes us to the lovely yet creepy state of Massachusetts (basically the whole state is a portal) and starts us off with the legend of the Dover Demon! Next, Kenzi goes over the mysterious story of June and Jennifer Gibbons, a.k.a. the Silent Twins! Ivy, being a twin herself, was particularly taken back by this eery tale, so buckle up! instagram.com/twhpodcast facebook.com/twhpodcast mailto:twhpodcast13@gmail.com
Elsie and Frances were two young girls who supposedly had been interacting with real fairies. In a bid to prove their existence, the two girls took a series of photographs that took the nation by storm. But was it possible that these two girls were able to do what no one had ever done before? Were these photographs proof that fairies were real? instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
In this super fun, light-hearted summer themed episode (heavy sarcasm warning) Kenzi goes over the history and hauntings on Alcatraz Island! (We also decide to start a band with Al Capones ghost, come check us out in the shower room!) Next, Ivy "dives" into the history behind the Queen Mary...and the ghosts that remain on board! Buzzfeed, if you are reading this and are looking for a new HILARIOUS and quirky duo to send on spooky adventures, look no further! instagram.com/twhpodcast facebook.com/twhpodcast mailto:twhpodcast13@gmail.com
It was Halloween night in 1992 when BBC broadcasted a controversial program called Ghostwatch. This program featured familiar TV faces who investigated a poltergeist at a family home. Although it was a complete work of fiction, it was filmed so realistically that it left some viewers thinking it was real. This caused a national outrage and is the perfect example as to why you shouldn't believe everything you see on TV... (I was suffering from some bad allergies the day I recorded this, so pardon my lackluster voice!) instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
If you are looking for another chatty double-ghost story episode, then you've come to the right place! This episode will also be particularly enjoyable for our local KC listeners, because Ivy starts us out with the sad history and possible ghosts of the Ha Ha Tonka State Park near the Lake of the Ozarks. Next, Kenzi takes us down south and goes over the history and hauntings at the Moon River Brewing Company in Savannah, GA! instagram.com/twhpodcast facebook.com/twhpodcast mailto:twhpodcast13@gmail.com
For this episode, I decided to go over a lesser-known urban legend from Fairfax County, Virginia, called "The Bunny Man". This is the story of an escaped murderer who's spirit still remains in the local woods and continues to kill on Halloween night. Although most urban legends aren't true, they are usually inspired by true events...so what inspired "The Bunny Man"? instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
What's up witches? For this weeks episode, Kenzi gets her inspiration from her new little puppy and goes over the lore behind the Banshee, a fearsome specter that also resembles Ivy a little too much for our comfort. Next, Ivy the Banshee brings us the tragic story of the Great Molasses Flood, a.k.a. the Molassecre! (We guess you could say they got themselves into a "sticky" situation...) Be sure to stay active with the BLM movement in any way that you can, whether you are present for protests, donating money, signing petitions, or getting registered to vote. instagram.com/twhpodcast facebook.com/twhpodcast mailto:twhpodcast13@gmail.com
Have you ever seen those old black and white photos of mediums vomiting a strange substance into the air? This substance was known as ectoplasm...but did this actually happen? You probably already know the answer...but the methods they used to pull off these stunts were sometimes just as scary as the idea of ectoplasm itself! instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
What's up ghouls? For this weeks episode, Ivy ends her 3-part Edinburgh series with the history of Calton Hill! Next, Kenzi tells us the story of the real Annabelle: a haunted doll that has inspired countless movies! (We like to think that Robert the Doll and Annabelle are romantically involved...)For some added suspense, you should know that after editing this episode, Ivy decided to hit up Ebay in the search for a vintage Raggedy Ann similar to Annabelle...and she found one! Cross your fingers that Ivy wins the bidding war so we can add her to our spooky family! instagram.com/twhpodcast facebook.com/twhpodcast mailto:twhpodcast13@gmail.com
We decided to start this episode off by addressing some of the current events going on here in America, and helped to spread the message that Black Lives Matter, more than ever right now. But as stressful and scary of a time this is, we did still bring two new spooky stories for this weeks episode. Kenzi starts us off with the story of Pazuzu (also known as "Zozo") the king of the demons! Next, Ivy gives us another story from a haunted location in Edinburgh, Scotland that she has also been to, called the Edinburgh Vaults! These vaults were filled with crime, potential murder, and (to no surprise) many ghosts! Check out the organizations that we mentioned in the beginning of the episode if you want to support the Black Lives Matter movement and the protesters behind it. instagram.com/twhpodcat facebook.com/twhpodcast mailto:twhpodcast13@gmail.com
The Amityville Horror was written as a true story based on the experiences of the Lutz family after moving into a home where a series of murders had taken place...but how much of this "true" story was actually true? Was this really a cursed house filled with ghosts? Did the walls actually ooze slime? (P.S. My voice is a bit rough in this episode from allergies, sorry!) instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast mailto:creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
For this EXTRA chatty episode, Ivy starts us off with the history and hauntings at Greyfriars Kirkyard in Edinburgh, Scotland! (And she has actually been there!) Next, Kenzi gives us the tragic story of King's Tavern in Natchez, Mississippi, and the hauntings that occur inside! That's right folks, this is a double ghost story episode, so buckle up! instagram.com/twhpodcast facebook.com/twhpodcast twhpodcast13@gmail.com
Thank you all for your support so far! I am only five episodes in, and your kind words and excitement towards this podcast has already blown my mind. But anyways, I have another awesome (and very creepy) story debunked and ready to go! Edward was a man that had it all, but something was holding him back...it was an evil and terrifying disfigurement that went on to ruin his life forever. But how much of this story was fact, and how much was fiction? instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
We are back! Due to technical difficulties (a.k.a. the Devil that we know as "lag") we were unable to record last weeks episode. But with Kansas Cities shutdown coming to an end, we were finally able to record this weeks episode together again! (Don't worry, we still followed every possible safety precaution!) Kenzi starts us off with the history of the Paris Catacombs and the strange things that happen inside. Next, Ivy gives us the dark and twisted story of Elena de Hoyos and Carl Tanzler! Instagram: twhpodcast Facebook: The Witching Hour Email: twhpodcast13@gmail.com
For this controversial episode, I am exposing the truth behind the very famous Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California! I might be breaking a lot of hearts in the paranormal world...but don't worry! Sometimes facts are much more interesting than fiction... instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
I am particularly excited about this episode because I will be covering the story of a famous location that I have actually been to myself, called the Shanghai Tunnels in Portland, Oregon! These tunnels are filled with wild and scary stories of shanghaiing and human trafficking. Well, that's what the tour guides will tell you at least...but how much of it is true? (Oh, and they are also super haunted!) instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
For this episode I will be telling you the story of Rosalia Lombardo, a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty, and the Worlds Most Beautiful Mummy! This is the sad story of little girl who passed away, and who’s body was professionally mummified. All was well, until a strange paranormal happening was observed with her corpse...or was it? instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
What's up ghouls? The stay-home order for Kansas City continues, but it still hasn't stopped us from delivering the spooks! For this weeks episode, Ivy starts us off with the Curse of the Crying Boy Painting. Next, Kenzi takes us down to Mexico to the famous Island of the Dolls...just google some photos of it while she dives in to the story, you won't be disappointed! (We are not responsible for any nightmares they may cause...) Ivy also gives a small announcement about a brand new side podcast she has secretly been working on...yay! Oh, and we have an official facebook page! So many exciting things packed into one episode! Instagram: twhpodcast Facebook: The Witching Hour Email: twhpodcast13@gmail.com
I wanted to make sure that the very first episode of Creepin' It Real was an extra spooky one, so I decided to dive in to the story of the SS Ourang Medan, a.k.a. the Ghost Ship! This is the myth of an old merchant ship surrounded by creepy S.O.S. messages and mysterious deaths...but hold on tight, because it isn't all that it seems! instagram.com/creepinitrealthepodcast facebook.com/creepinitrealthepodcast creepinitrealthepodcast@gmail.com
Whoops...another long episode! It is hard to believe that this is already our third episode recorded isolation-style, but the show must go on! Kenzi starts us off with the story of the (very) famous Loch Ness Monster, then Ivy takes us down a darker path and talks about the unfortunate history and hauntings of St. Gabriels Convent in Liverpool! We hope you are staying happy, healthy, and spooky! Instagram: twhpodcast Email: twhpodcast13@gmail.com
Thank you so much to two of our lovely (and very spooky) followers for giving us these amazing suggestions for our second Listener Requests episode! Ivy covers the story of Thom Reed who was involved in the first "historically true" UFO encounter in America! Next, Kenzi shares the story of the infamous Devil's Rocking Chair, and the pain and mayhem it has caused! We are still following stay-at-home orders for Kansas City and recording remotely, and we want to thank all of our wonderful listeners for their continued support through all of this! Instagram: twhpodcast Email: twhpodcast13@gmail.com
Welcome to our first remote episode! Strange coincidences are apparently just a permanent part of the podcast now because we accidentally picked similar stories...again! Kenzi shares the legend of the Kraken from the comfort of her own home, while Ivy records in the studio all by her lonesome self (cue crying sounds) and tells us the story of the saddest cryptid ever: the Squonk! Instagram: twhpodcast Email: twhpodcast13@gmail.com
Quarantine has left us feeling a bit more chatty and delusional than usual, and we didn't even know that was possible! Ivy finally brings something new to the podcast and gives us our first werewolf story...the Werewolf of Bedburg! Next, Kenzi gives us part two of the alien abduction of Barney and Betty Hill! Hopefully our mindless banter and side-bars keeps you just as entertained as we were while recording. Email: twhpodcast13@gmail.com
