The next morning, Calvin and armed neighbors searched but found no tracks, blood, or signs; no reports of shootings emerged, leaving the incident unsolved. The narrator, born in 1937, grew up farming and hunting (squirrels at 10, turkeys for 64 years), served in the Army, and became a Tallahassee police officer. Spooky Series, Episode #4 of 4. Over an eight-month period in 1896-1897, thousands of people across North America reported seeing mysterious ships in the air or lights in the sky. There were over 12,000 newspaper accounts published about the phenomenon in 408 different newspapers in 41 American states and six Canadian provinces. The airships were usually described as oblong, cigar-shaped objects, sometimes with wings that would flap up and down. What was going on that would have inspired so many unidentified flying object sightings? And why did they seem to cluster around an eight month period in 1896-1897? by UFO History Buff & Author, Charles LearBrazilian UFO cases have aspects to them that, while not unheard of in other countries, come up over and over again giving them a commonality that is unique to Brazil. Lost time, traveling long distances in trucks and cars in far less time and using far less fuel than it should take, humanoid encounters, and injuries are a few of these. A case from 1980 has all of these aspects except injury, and it is described in the cover story of the March 1982 APRO Bulletin.According to the article headlined “1980 Brazilian Abduction,” the case came to light “during the question and answer period following a UFO lecture by APRO's Brazilian Representative, Mrs. Irene Granchi.” Granchi later interviewed the people involved, Elias Seixas de Matos, 38; Guaraci Fernandes de Sousa, 47; and Alberto Seixas Vierra, 26. Granchi later wrote about the case in an article (link to original article broken at this time) published in the April 1995 issue of UFO Magazine. There, she says she was lecturing about the work of Rio de Janeiro-based “hypnologist,” Dr. Silvio Lago. This episode, our guest Len Filppu comes to us from California. His story takes us back to Brockport, New York, in the summer of 1967. Sixteen-year-old Len watched a huge orange, flame-covered craft drift low across the sky, followed by a small white orb weaving behind it. He wasn't the only witness. Police officers, university staff, and other locals said they saw the same thing that night. A newspaper report even mentioned the trailing white light, confirming what Len and his friend saw. The sight stayed with him. Years later, after working in politics, film, and Silicon Valley, he still remembers its quiet, intentional presence. Albert Taylor Ph. D is an aeronautical engineer and scientist who spent almost two decades evaluating satellite system designs and many confidential government programs. Currently a metaphysical researcher, Taylor is an active member of the International Association of Near Death Studies, and a participant in the Monroe Institute's Voyagers program. He lives in Los Angeles. Albert's book Soul Traveler talks of his own out-of-body experiences and much more. Beyond that, he is a robotics expert, and has been creating robots to hunt for ghosts and other paranormal phenomena. We talk about all of this during this show. Albert Taylor performed development engineering on a top secret program which has since become known as the F-117A Stealth Fighter. He evaluated satellite system designs in support of former President Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) or Star Wars. During the late 1980's Taylor taught Logistics Engineering at Cerritos College, California. He has also served as a volunteer art instructor at St. Paul's Elementary School in West Los Angeles. Taylor's art work has been exhibited in Southern California galleries. In 1992 he developed two prototype computers, and started a company called Phoenix Computers Systems, which he still owns today. Fortunately, there are still some active civilian investigators out there who share their information (without a subscription) on their websites. Stan Gordon is one of those, and he helped bring attention to a case investigated by fellow researcher Jim Brown.Stan Gordon maintains a website, Stan Gordon's UFO Anomalies Zone. According to his bio on the site, he was a trained electronics technician who specialized in radio and “worked in the advanced consumer electronics sales field for over forty years.” He has lived his whole life in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, became interested in UFOs and strangeness in 1959 at the age of ten, was the investigations coordinator for telephone reports coming into the UFO Research Institute of Pittsburgh in the late 1960s, and became an active field investigator in 1965. That year he was the primary investigator for the “December 9, 1965, UFO crash-recovery incident that occurred near Kecksburg, Pennsylvania.” Gordon established a hotline in 1969 so he could receive UFO reports and formed his own organization, the Westmoreland County UFO Study Group, in 1970. Read more →
