Kerri covers the serial killer Samuel Little. He is confirmed by the FBI as the most prolific serial killer in American history, responsible for possibly 93 murders spanning four decades. His victims were largely marginalized women whose deaths were often misclassified or gone unsolved. Donna is taking the crew on a little cruise aboard the SS Ourang Medan, a ghost ship whose entire crew was found dead, wide-eyed, and pointing at nothing.
The episode where Sarah covers the haunted story of the SS Ourang Medan, a ghost ship and urban legend from the 1940s. Legend has it that the ship was found dead in the water after a distress signal was sent out from the straits of Malacca…and when hep arrived, everyone on board was dead. Aliens? Government coverup? Haunted artifacts (LAUREN! We told her to get off the ship, promise)? In the late 1940s, a distress call echoed across the seas near Indonesia: “All officers including the captain are dead. Lying in chartroom and bridge. Possibly whole crew dead.” Minutes later, silence. When rescuers boarded the SS Ourang Medan, they found the crew sprawled across the deck, eyes wide, faces frozen in terror—before the ship mysteriously exploded and sank. Was it a ghost ship, a chemical accident, or something more sinister? In this episode, we examine the chilling tale of the Ourang Medan.

An unregistered ship. A haunting distress signal. A crew found dead, their faces twisted in terror—and then, an explosion that swallowed the vessel forever. This isn't the plot of a horror movie. This is the real (or is it?) story of the SS Ourang Medan. In this episode, we dive deep into one of the most unsettling maritime mysteries ever recorded—or invented. What really happened aboard the ghost ship that governments have seemingly tried to erase? Why was the CIA still referencing it a decade later? And could it all have been the cover-up of a deadly wartime secret? If you are interested in bonus content for our show or in getting some Coffee and Cases swag, please consider joining Patreon. **Discussion begins at 4:00**Today, we are going to talk about the tale of the SS Ourang Medan. This ghost ship was reportedly discovered adrift in the Strait of Malacca in the late 1940s. According to the story, various ships received a chilling distress message from the Ourang Medan stating that the entire crew was dead, followed by a final cryptic transmission: "I die." When rescuers eventually located the vessel, they found the crew's corpses scattered across the deck, their faces frozen in expressions of terror, with no visible signs of injury. Efforts to tow the ship back to port reportedly failed. Before the vessel could be salvaged or investigated further, it allegedly exploded and sank without a trace. The cause of the crew's deaths and the subsequent destruction of the ship remain unexplained, fueling speculation. Theories have ranged from carbon monoxide poisoning and chemical weapons to paranormal phenomena or alien encounters. Today we take a deep dive into the legend of the SS Ourang Medan, one of the most eerie and enigmatic maritime mysteries ever told.Send us a textSupport the showTheme song by INDA

Among other random chat, we talk about the SS Ourang Medan. A ship that reportedly exploded in the Straight Of Malacca some time in 1940. Its entire crew dead, no physical injuries, and terror frozen onto their faces at the time they died. No record of the crew or ship can be found, including that of a soul survivor who died not long after telling the strange tale of the fate that befell this ship. http://podbelly.com http://retrovague.com http://robotsforeyespodcast.com

Jo is convinced that you can move around freely without detection in the open ocean, yet again struggling to comprehend the size of the sea, meanwhile Jonny is less than impressed with the twist to the story. Every day, hundreds of ships are sailing across the oceans. Unfortunately, some do not make it to their destinations. The open water is filled with secrets and has taken the lives of many of the sailors to keep those secret. The existence of one such ship in 1948 that was found drifting in the middle of the Indian Ocean has been widely debated. If true, then all crew aboard were found not only found dead but in twisted configurations indicating that they perished from fright, yet the ship was undamaged, and their bodies showed no signs of injury. 'Ghost Ships' are synonymous with the golden age of piracy - the words conjure images of huge galleons with tattered sails and skeleton crews, sailing through the mist hundreds of years ago, reassuringly far removed from modern life. The story of the SS Ourang Medan, however, is disturbingly modern - the tale of a true ghost ship that has frightened people all over the world, from hardened sailors to agents in the highest echelons of government. The sea is a familiar, albeit unknown, piece of our world and with it, the waves carry tales across the globe for storytellers and scholars alike, to share amongst the rest and ultimately construct part of the very foundation that is our maritime history. We've heard of Blackbeard, the infamous pirate, and even the spectral vessel, The Flying Dutchman. We've seen other myths and legends from cinema, such as The Pirates of the Caribbean and even Spongebob Squarepants. One such mystery that is much more recent than the aforementioned is the SS Ourang Medan. The Ourang Medan is a ghost ship which was supposedly discovered by The Silver Star after the latter had intercepted an S.O.S. from the phantom sea-bearer. After discovering the Medan's crew to be dead and an attempt to pull the ship back to port, the SS Ourang Medan unexpectedly exploded and so the primordial waters became it's eternal grave site. The waters of our world are not forces to reckon with but to live with, harmoniously. They are unsuspecting and unforgiving. If real, the SS Ourang Medan was just another victim for the seven sea's death toll. Check out the episode for more details on the story! We hope you enjoy your time listening and learning.
