Among other random chat, we talk about the SS Ourang Medan. A ship that reportedly exploded in the Straight Of Malacca some time in 1940. Its entire crew dead, no physical injuries, and terror frozen onto their faces at the time they died. No record of the crew or ship can be found, including that of a soul survivor who died not long after telling the strange tale of the fate that befell this ship. http://podbelly.com http://retrovague.com http://robotsforeyespodcast.com
Jo and Jonny discuss the SS Ourang Medan. Was this ship part of a government conspiracy or a UFO event? Jo is convinced that you can move around freely without detection in the open ocean, yet again struggling to comprehend the size of the sea, meanwhile Jonny is less than impressed with the twist to the story. Every day, hundreds of ships are sailing across the oceans. Unfortunately, some do not make it to their destinations. The open water is filled with secrets and has taken the lives of many of the sailors to keep those secret. The existence of one such ship in 1948 that was found drifting in the middle of the Indian Ocean has been widely debated. 'Ghost Ships' are synonymous with the golden age of piracy - the words conjure images of huge galleons with tattered sails and skeleton crews, sailing through the mist hundreds of years ago, reassuringly far removed from modern life. The story of the SS Ourang Medan, however, is disturbingly modern - the tale of a true ghost ship that has frightened people all over the world, from hardened sailors to agents in the highest echelons of government.

Our good pal Talon joins us in the garage to talk about ghost shit... or a ghost ship. Either way! We had a blast discussing the strange story of the SS Ourang Medan. "All crew aboard the SS Ourang Medan are dead, including the captain... I die."
In today's episode we talk about the Ourang Medan. A ship that sent out a disturbing distress call via morse code. A ship afloat full of bodies, with the look of terror and screaming upon all their faces. Some say the story is true while others say it isn't, but there's a bit of evidence lending credibility to both sides of the story which make it more intriguing. The fate of the ship and crew was never determined, due to the ship exploding and sinking. There are two prevalent theories and of course, we add in a couple of our own, and the coal peddler returns! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/arcanumobscura/message

After exhilarating talks about the rain, The Hitman's Bodyguard, and National Ocean's Day, Tyler and Ingle get into the urban legend of the SS Ourang Medan, which is about a ghost ship that had allegedly become a shipwreck in Dutch East Indies waters in the late 1940s. A couple of weeks ago, we got together to do Mystery on the Rocks in the same room for the first time in over a year and did a live show from Angel Comedy's brilliant venue The Bill Murray. Restrictions still prevented us having audience in the room with us and so we livestreamed a slightly chaotic show where we got super giddy at being together for the first time in a long time. During the shenanigans, we did touch upon the story of the terrifying ghost ship SS Ourang Medan, and thought why not edit together an episode from the live show? So we did!An eerie distress call from the doomed ship caused two vessels in what was the Dutch East Indies to investigate, whereupon they found the Ourang Medan's entire crew dead and, disturbingly, all in the same pose. But is it actually a horrifying true story or just an urban myth? The jury has remained out ever since the story first surfaced in the 1940s... And find out if there is anything cool dude Masud can't style out... See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

We talk about two boats (one massive, one teeny) that didn't have much luck with their crews. We try to get to the bottom of - were they hoaxes or absolutely bizarre real mysteries?

This ship was said to be discovered with all its crew dead under unexplainable circumstances.
Scoff and Wonk delve into the intriguing case of the SS Ourang Medan, a supposed ghost ship that sent out a bizarre SOS message and was later found adrift, completely intact and undamaged. The weirdest part? Everyone aboard was found dead, sprawled on their backs and staring up at the sky (1940s).

The sea is a familiar, albeit unknown, piece of our world and with it, the waves carry tales across the globe for storytellers and scholars alike, to share amongst the rest and ultimately construct part of the very foundation that is our maritime history. We've heard of Blackbeard, the infamous pirate, and even the spectral vessel, The Flying Dutchman. We've seen other myths and legends from cinema, such as The Pirates of the Caribbean and even Spongebob Squarepants. One such mystery that is much more recent than the aforementioned is the SS Ourang Medan. The Ourang Medan is a ghost ship which was supposedly discovered by The Silver Star after the latter had intercepted an S.O.S. from the phantom sea-bearer. After discovering the Medan's crew to be dead and an attempt to pull the ship back to port, the SS Ourang Medan unexpectedly exploded and so the primordial waters became it's eternal grave site. The waters of our world are not forces to reckon with but to live with, harmoniously. They are unsuspecting and unforgiving. If real, the SS Ourang Medan was just another victim for the seven sea's death toll. Check out the episode for more details on the story! We hope you enjoy your time listening and learning. Stay safe and healthy out there in the world and you'll hear from us soon. Special updates are coming soon ;) Episode art is from a DeviantArt creator, Cinematic-Orchestra, and is titled "Ghost Ship" --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-farthest-reaches/support

The SS Ourang Medan was a Dutch Freighter that sent out a bone chilling distress call in the late 1940's, "*We float. All officers including the captain, dead in chartroom and on the bridge. Probably whole of crew dead". When the crew from the SS Silver Star arrived for the rescue mission, nothing could prepare them for the horror and mystery that was found upon the Ourang Medan....Sponsors:betterhelp.com/brohio

Since the earliest humans first gazed out into their seemingly endless expanse, the world's oceans have been the source of both wonder and terror. For centuries eerie tales of ghost ships like the Flying Dutchman and the Mary Celeste have been passed down from one generation of seafarer to the next, but as ill-omened as these haunted vessels are alleged to be there is another even more disturbing maritime mystery that deals not with ships that have been abandoned, but those whose crew have inexplicably perished… Arguably the most disturbing of these legends is the dreadful case of the SS Ourang Medan. Dismissed by some people as a hoax or legend, there's no denying the story of the SS Ourang Medan is a terrifying one. It started in 1947 with a radioed SOS signal. Multiple ships traversing the heavy sea route along the Straits of Malacca managed to receive the message and It said: "All officers, including the Captain, are dead. Lying in chartroom and bridge. Possibly whole crew dead." A cryptic Morse code followed, afterwards another message. " I die." #2 Brabant Killers Between 1982 and 1985, the small city of Brabant, Belgium was terrorized by a group of violent individuals. Believed to be the work of a gang, the crime spree resulted in 28 deaths and up to 40 injured individuals. Also known as the Nivelles Gang, the Brabant Killers started their crime spree on March 13, 1982 when two men were seen robbing a store. More crimes followed including more robberies of food, wine and firearms. Their September 30 robbery resulted in the death of one police officer and caused serious injury to others who responded. Meanwhile, their final crime spree for 1982 was the robbery of a restaurant where they stole wine and coffee. They held the owner hostage, torturing him before finally killing him. So these were two of the most mysterious stories around. The world can be a crazy place and Twisted Two’s is sure to show you why.
