More than three decades ago, tiny blobs of gelatinous goo of unknown origin rained down on the small Grays Harbor community and captured national headlines. The cause of the strange phenomenon, and even what the blobs were made of -- remains an enigma. It was even the subject of an episode of the TV show Unsolved Mysteries. (Watch the episode here.) In August 1994, Oakville, Washington, was the target of a strange, unexplained event: a shower of translucent blobs, not rain, fell from the sky. The gooey substance coated everything in sight, from windshields to grass, leaving residents and animals sick with inexplicable symptoms. Was it a freak weather anomaly or something more disturbing? Theories have swirled for years, from bombed jellyfish to secret military experiments. But despite numerous investigations, the true origin of the blobs remains a mystery. Now, with reports of similar occurrences just a few miles away in 2025, the question lingers: What really fell from the sky that summer? In this episode, we dig into the chilling details of the Oakville blob incident and the questions that still haunt the small town, and could possibly reveal a much darker truth.Edited by Maxwell Holechek

This week, Kelsey comes back to us from the Healing Appalachia event. If you don't know about the great work going on with that festival, please look it up. Incredible bands playing in support of one of the most important causes in our state, addiction recovery. Kelsey brought home some pickles from the West Virginia Pickle Guy, followed by jerky for us to try from Cane Creek Jerky, handcrafted locally sourced jerky from Lexington, Kentucky. Kelsey, Matt, and even the Editor rated the pickles and the jerky so very high. Here's what we tried: "dang good" Pineapple Habanero sliced pickles, just the softest Spicy Beef Jerky everThen, Matt talks about an event that happened 30 years ago, August of 1994, around Oakville Washington. You gotta tell all your friends about this one, we think it's much bigger and far more bizarre than the meat rain incident of similar repute. An event that involved blobs of unknown origin and material makeup, which fell from the skies onto everything below, covering an area around twenty square miles across a period of three weeks. The Creeps also talk about the Derby, grabbing chips, Sicily being pictured, bee weather, and cute dogs at events. Also the Editor gets sweet revenge around eight minutes in.

In August 1994, residents of Oakville – a small city in Washington, US – reported translucent, gelatinous blobs, each about half the size of a rice grain, covering the ground. They had rained down during the night. Over the next three weeks, there were five reports in the local area of these strange blobs, with several people claiming that they had fallen ill as a result of contact with them. Various theories have been suggested to explain this event, including, classified military weapons testing and even that jellyfish were shredded into pieces and swept up into the stratosphere by US Air Force bombing practice in the nearby Pacific. SKIP TO 00:14:40 TO GET TO THE STORY On the morning of August 7, 1994, it began to rain in the small town of Oakville, Washington. But instead of raining water, a thick clear goo seemed to be falling from the clouds above. Over the next 3 weeks, the goo would fall a total of 6 times and cover an area of 20 square miles. Those who came into contact with the goo would eventually become ill, with some even being hospitalized with complications such as kidney failure. What were the Oakville Blobs? While rain in Washington state is certainly not unusual, the rain that fell over Oakville, Washington in 1994 was unusual. It appeared to be globular blobs about the size of half a grain of rice. The blobs were first reported by a police officer patrolling as his windshield wipers smeared the globs. Numerous townspeople reported the blobs in their yard and on buildings. The concerning part seemed that anyone that came into contact with the blobs developed an unexplained illness. The blobs were taken to a research lab to be studied where they determined they housed two types of bacteria. When researchers went to study them further, their samples had disappeared and they were told not to ask any more questions. What caused the Oakville Blobs? Was it a strange blob rain or something more sinister? Or was this a government project gone wrong? Join Ben & Tom as the dissect the Oakville Blobs on tonight's episode of Will Continue to Monitor. What does the military, frog spawn, and star jelly have to do with the strange weather in Oakville, Washington? Well, nobody really knows- not even the bewildered citizens- but in this episode we discuss multiple theories that just keep getting stranger and stranger.
We know the saying is "there's always room for Jell-O", but maybe not when it falls from the sky and is full of human white blood cells. Or at least that is what the population of Oakville, Washington would have us believe after they experience this very thing in 1994. Six times over a period of three weeks the region was plagued with gelatinous blobs falling from the sky. They made residents sick, killed pets, and are still unsolved. What fell from the sky in Washington State? Was the U.S. government behind the whole thing? Why does Cobra Commanders Weather Dominator make Conspiracy Bot so giddy? We take a crack at answering those and many more question on the podcast that truly always DOES have room for Jell-O – Hysteria 51. Hey Queerdos! This week, Creepy InQueeries goes for a routine check up and ends up DEAD! JK, but we do meet Nurse Charles Cullen, Angel of Death, in Miss's true crime story. He had an unmitigated murder spree in NJ and PA killing AT THE VERY LEAST 40 patients in 16 years before authorities caught him (the total could be over 300). New Jersey's most prolific serial killer had a bedside manner to die for. Then for Kevin's spoopy story, the duo takes a trip to Oakville, WA where THE SKY IS FALLING with… blobs? Not just once, but six separate times. Journey with us while we speculate wildly on what the blobs could be and why they made residents of that small logging town sick. We're excited for this one and we know you will be, too!
