Tony explores the ghostly phenomena reported by visitors and investigators, diving into spine-chilling stories of shadowy figures, chilling screams, and encounters with the infamous “Mr. Boots.” But are these tales a product of the vaults' dark history, or is there a rational explanation? Tune in for a deep dive into one of the world's most haunted locations.

Welcome, to Dark RealmsFor our first episode of our mini-series “Dark Realms” we take step through a hole in a wall made not to long ago in a cellar in Scotland. The hole, accidentally made, would reveal one of the most historically fascinating, and terrifying, places in recent history. That accidental hole led to the opening of a labyrinth of underground dwellings to some of Edinburgh's most unfortunates from centuries before, and, perhaps, more recent visitors have led to ‘openings' of an even more terrifying kind.Stay safe,Kevin.Joining our Patreon team not only gives you early Ad-Free access to all of our episodes, it can also give you access to the Patreon only podcast, Dark Bites. Edinburgh is home to ancient underground vaults that have been part of this city's history for more than 200 years. These vaults carry symbolic, cultural, and historical value for not only Edinburgh, but also Scotland. Built in the late 18th century, the Vaults were originally designed to house taverns, workshops, and storage spaces for the city's tradesmen. However, as the conditions deteriorated, the underground passages became a breeding ground for poverty, crime, and illicit activity. The Vaults were abandoned and forgotten by most, but they never truly remained silent. Reports of ghostly apparitions, strange noises, and unnerving presences have been shared by visitors and paranormal investigators for decades. In this episode, we'll be uncovering the most chilling ghost stories tied to the Edinburgh Vaults. From the menacing spirits said to lurk in the darkness to the tragic souls who met their untimely deaths through disease the Vaults have earned their reputation as one of the world's most haunted places in Europe. Whether you're a skeptic or a believer, the ghost stories from this underground labyrinth are sure to leave you questioning what truly lingers in the shadows. Beneath the bustling streets of Edinburgh, Scotland, lies a secret world known as the "Edinburgh Vaults." These hidden chambers are tucked away beneath the arches of the South Bridge, a massive 19th-century structure towering over the city's historic Old Town. Originally constructed in the late 18th century, the Vaults served as storage spaces and workshops for local merchants before falling into neglect. Over time, they became a refuge for outlaws, wanderers, and the city's most impoverished residents. Nowadays, the Edinburgh Vaults draw in curious tourists eager to delve into the city's past as they wander through the underground passageways. This is an enhanced version of episode 10 with actual audio from the investigation. In 1985 a tunnel was found by a Scottish international rugby player, that led to an enormous underground complex, that had once been a thriving, lawless, city beneath Edinburgh. This is a very paranormally active place indeed, with one malevolent phantom in particular being very unappreciative of the visitors who come here daily on tours. I investigated this location a decade ago, and encountered this foul-mouthed, dangerous entity for myself, in what quickly escalated into the most dangerous investigation I had ever led. Have the Vaults earned their reputation, as being one of the most fearsome places in Scotland? Let's find out together, when we ask How Haunted are the Edinburgh Vaults? We're international this week! Taking a trip to Scotland to talk about the supposedly ultra haunted Edinburgh Vaults, or the South Bridge Vaults. After being re-discovered in the 90s these tunnels definitely draw a large ghost tour crowd. There is a creepy Watcher spirit, a child, along with...a former queen? There is also an interesting history about the opening bridge that may or may not have cursed it along with the rumor of a fire. The UK never disappoints with places rich in history and packed with ghosts! We'd appreciate it if you took a moment to help our podcast by rating and reviewing on apple and NOW on Spotify! The Edinburgh Vaults or South Bridge Vaults are a series of chambers formed in the nineteen arches of the South Bridge in Edinburgh, Scotland, was part of the South Bridge Act 1785 and was completed in 1788. For around 30 years, the vaults were used to house taverns, workshops for cobblers and other tradesmen, as well as storage space for said merchants. In later years, the vaults were a hotspot for the homeless and for criminal activity such as illegal gambling taverns, illegal whisky distillery and, according to rumour, bodysnatchers serial killers Burke and Hare stored corpses there overnight. As the conditions in the vaults deteriorated, mainly because of damp and poor air quality, the businesses left in the 1820s and the very poorest of Edinburgh's citizens moved in, though by around 1860, even they are believed to have left too. That people had lived there was only discovered in 1985 during an excavation, when middens were found containing toys, medicine bottles, plates, and other signs of human habitation.

Next, Ivy gives us another story from a haunted location in Edinburgh, Scotland that she has also been to, called the Edinburgh Vaults! A school trip to the Edinburgh Vaults leaves on school child with an experience that will haunt her for the rest of her life. What happened in these vaults, and what do these spirts want with the living? One listener writes in: “I went on a school trip to Edinburgh with some friends during summer, and while we were there, we decided to do a tour of the Edinburgh Vaults. These are serious of rooms connected by tunnels that lie under the streets of the city and were used in the past by very poor people as it was illegal to be homeless (in the late 18th to early 19th century, I think). If you imagine the typical description of a dungeon - stone small rooms, pitch black, dripping water - you're along the right lines of what this place looks like (you can Google them to see). These rooms would be home to hundreds of poor people living in confined spaces, as well as some of the most dangerous criminals of the time who came down there to escape the law. It was the darkest, grungiest place I've ever been to, and we only had our phone torches to light a small area in front of us. Anyway, so as soon as we went down there, my friend turned around to me and looked very strange. She told me she felt violently sick and like someone weighed down on her whole body. I still didn't buy it. Our guide then took us into one of the vaults where a coven of witches had practiced their art and at one point, accidentally released a dark spirit which they kept held in by placing a circle of stones on the floor - which is still there today! It is said that people who enter the circle receive various inexplicable scratches and bruises and in 2014, a man even had a heart attack and died whilst in the stone circle. Then towards the end of the tour, we entered a room where we had to hold hands and turn off all lights as this was where the activity had always been strongest and was most dangerous.” Listen to the podcast to hear the rest of the ghost story! In the late 18th century, two bridges were built in Edinburgh to help the city to expand over the hills that were part of the area, the North Bridge and the South Bridge. The South Bridge linked the Old Town’s High Street with the University buildings on the south side of the city and housed a number of chambers that were first used for businesses and later became a seedy part of the city. These chambers are known today as the Edinburgh Vaults. Because of some of the illegal activity and the living conditions in the vaults, they are reputedly the most haunted site in Scotland. This week the fellas take a skip 'cross the pond to Jolly old England! Well, actually Scotland. Don't let them know we got that wrong, there's something of a... contentious history there. The boys have found out about an underground vault system that is (naturally) lousy with ghosts, so they do what they do best - lock themselves in and scream a lot at nobody in particular. It's a great time for everyone. Sorry about the lack of episode last week, one of our hosts was on vacation!

Rev. Payshence Radio- Celebration of the Holy Marriage of the Lord and Lady ..Born in Havana, Cuba on a "old moon" in September, I was the first child born of my mother. She had a miscarriage of her first pregnancy, arising from a hex put on her, one filled with envy and deceit. I grew up knowing that I was born to counteract that spell and save my mother's happiness and life. Living in New York, at a very tender age, I was taught the magickal traditions of a line of men in my family. Within that lineage, my great grandfather and grandfather, possessing initiated Masonic and Spiritual knowledge presented a good influence for me to model myself to. Myself, not of English descent, I was genuinely curious and heart-fully drawn to British Traditional Witchcraft at an early age of eleven, through the writings of Gardner, Leek & Gavin/Yvonne Frost. When I became thirteen years of age, I was initiated in Palo Mayombe of the Congo/Afro Cuban. Then I began my spiritual studies of "El Envangelio De Alan Kardec" at El Templo; La Luz, Cristobal De Jesus, and was crowned on my 19 birthday. My African spirits carried me to be initiated in the Santeria/Yoruba/AfroCuban Tradition. I was the right hand man for an Oriate, Chief High Priest. I was taught the Gardnerian Tradition by the Long Island Line and later to be initiated by Lady Rhea of New York City in 1995 for several years after I devoted all my time to my profession in surgery.
