The 5- masted schooner Carroll A. Deering was discovered abandoned on January 31, 1921, hard aground on the treacherous Diamond Shoals off Cape Hatteras. All crew members had vanished without a trace, leaving behind a fully set table in the galley, personal belongings, and signs that the vessel had been recently occupied, but with its lifeboats missing. The ship's logs and navigational equipment were also gone. Despite investigations by the United States Coast Guard and speculation ranging from piracy to mutiny or even supernatural causes, no definitive explanation was ever found. In January 1921, a five-masted schooner was discovered run aground off the coast of North Carolina with no crew aboard and no clear signs of struggle. Personal belongings, navigation equipment, and the ship's lifeboats were missing, leaving investigators with more questions than answers and a trio of cats, which had been the only signs of life aboard the abandoned ship. A dive into Ghost Ship was more enjoyable that we anticipated as we realised this is an over hated gem in the world of 2000's horror movies. Steller casting across the board with some now very famous faces making early career appearances. Effects hold up better than a lot of more modern films for the most part. This film was a real delight. Not to mention the parallels we managed to draw between this, The Shining and Event Horizon or all the interactive features that fill the episode. This is (as always) one not to be missed.

At the bottom of the Great Lakes, the dead don't disappear. They stay exactly where they were left. Perfectly preserved. Suspended in the dark. Sometimes drifting. Sometimes… moving. For hundreds of years, ships have vanished into these waters, taking their crews, their stories, and something else with them.
