Episode 314 - The Book No One Can Read: The Voynich Manuscript Mystery A 600-year-old book written in an unknown language, bizarre botanical illustrations that don't exist on Earth, and a possible wizard on the run—this episode dives into the biggest literary mystery of all time. This is the unreadable book, the Voynich Manuscript. We explore its enigmatic origins, the life of rare book collector Wilfred Voynich, and the theories surrounding its possible author, Roger Bacon—a medieval friar with a suspiciously wizard-like reputation. But this isn't just a history lesson—things get personal. Has Corinne been hexed? Could crystals be the answer? And how exactly does the Squonk, the world's saddest cryptid, fit into all of this? From CIA codebreakers and AI decryption attempts to extraterrestrial connections and secret societies, we explore the theories, hoaxes, and paranormal possibilities. Is this a centuries old prank? A journal dropped by an alien (obviously it's this one)? Tune in to find out what is going on with the Voynich Manuscript. Watch the Video Version Here Have ghost stories of your own? E-mail them to us at twogirlsoneghostpodcast@gmail.com New Episodes are released every Sunday at 12am PST/3am EST (the witching hour, of course). But don't worry, we'll balance out the chills with The Squonk, a cryptid that might just be our collective spirit animal—wrinkly, weepy, and dissolving into tears when cornered. And, of course, we have listener encounters that will make you rethink your next road trip through Appalachia. Mysterious figures stalking the tree line, eerie glowing eyes, and creatures that shouldn't be able to keep pace with your car… but somehow do. PLUS:

It was the album that proved that Genesis could indeed survive and even thrive without their former frontman, Peter Gabriel. Welcome back to a new episode of Rebel Teacher Alliance! This week, we sit down with the fantastic Dr. Fatty Acid (a.k.a. @When_Nerds_Teach) to talk about middle school madness, engagement strategies, and the legend of Squonk. We explore how humor fuels her classroom, the importance of recognizing student creativity, and why she's always down to buy a hand-drawn pumpkin-truck tattoo concept from a sixth grader. We also dive into why students don't need to suffer to learn resilience and why making things easier for them isn't a bad thing (seriously, people). And, of course, we get into a game recommendation that lets you explore the great outdoors—without ever leaving your living room. Just a quick reminder that Season 1 in its entirety is available to stream on Spotify, and Season 3 is currently underway on YouTube. Go check it out!The following episode is a bit of a throwback to our Pride Month Special called “Lavender for Monsters”. It was a beautiful four part series where we explored the intersections and power within Queerness and monstrosity.I'm going to begin this episode description with a phenomenal quote introduced to me by our guest of honor, Robin today. This quote is by Cuban American Queer Activist and Academic Jose Esteban Munoz:“Queerness is not yet here. Queerness is an ideality. Put another way, we are not yet queer, but we can feel it as the warm illumination of a horizon imbued with potentiality. We have never been queer, yet queerness exists for us as an ideality that can be distilled from the past and used to imagine a future. The future is queerness's domain. (p. 1)”― José Esteban Muñoz, Cruising Utopia: The Then and There of Queer FuturityLet's hear it for the beauties, complexities, and histories to come for Queerness. Robin Gow (it/fae/he & él y elle) is a poet and witch from rural Pennsylvania. It is the author of several poetry, Middle Grade, and Young Adult books. It works as a community educator on topics of LGBTQIA2+ and disability justice.Robin is a literal ray of sunshine. My goodness, I'm not kidding. The work that Fae does to explore the brilliance of Queerness in all of its monstrous complexities is nothing short of astronomical. Please, go check out this beautiful soul's poetry work Monstrous Cartography and all of the other outstanding works in Faer repertoire. Thank you so much for doing this show Robin, and I'm so excited to now call you a friend.Today's episode is all about the kindest person in the world Robin Gow, Robin's mastery in writing and poetry, the power of a ghost story, how monsters become manifestation of what society doesn't understand, Robin's PHENOMENAL new poetry book Monstrous Cartography, the relatability of “Queer Sea Monsters”, Robin's partner Rain and his monstrous watercolor mastery, the tears of the Squonk, Robin's explorations of Mothman, Climate Grief, the fears of endless wandering, the amazing Paranorman film, and how Robin and myself will forever be proud, proud, crybabies; because feeling “too much” is a superpower.-Content Warnings:Mentions and discussions of mental health complexities, depression, grief, and the beauties, trials, and tribulations of growing up QueerMisophonia:Snaps, Pops, Clicks, and Hisses throughout the episode.-Robin's Monstrous Mentions:Instagram: @ robin_gow_poetTikTok: @ robin_gow_poet & @ transdemontologist Website: robingow.comMonstrous Cartography: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/monstrous-cartography-robin-gow/1145307923?ean=9798990348837Dear Mothman: https://store.abramsbooks.com/products/dear-mothman-Mental Health Resources:LGBTQQIP2SAA+ Mental Health Resources: The Trevor Project: https://www.thetrevorproject.org/resources/category/mental-health/Domestic Violence Resources: https://www.thehotline.org/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=domestic_violenceNational Institute of Mental Health: https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/find-help988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: https://988lifeline.org/Disaster Distress Helpline: https://www.samhsa.gov/find-help/disaster-distress-helplineNational Alliance on Mental Health:NAMI HelpLine is available M-F 10 am – 10 pm, ET. Towards the end. So the part I'm on about is Captain Sawada, right? He punches a guy and then he walks towards a security expert who has hacked into, tapped into, the security cameras. And at that point, you've got Honda and Zangief fighting each other, which is just basically grabbing each other and throwing each other around. But they are trampling through a model of Bisonopolis, which is funny in itself. But then you've got Godzilla/kaiju sounds superimposed on top. And it goes on for like three seconds. You don't see much of it.— SquidgeAnd before they could move on to any other scenes, Squidge brought up the guy with the machine gun (as mentioned in the previous episode on the movie, which good friend Z-Boi):[Ryu and Ken] walk by a guy who's just in a towel around his midriff and he's lovingly holding this gun, grenade launcher, machine gun, whatever the hell it is. And he's got the butt of it on his leg, and he's holding it up, and he's polishing it. What happened to him? Why was he so attached to the gun? Did he make it out okay and does he still have the gun? That's the most important question I need to ask.Did he make it out alive with the gun? Is he still polishing the gun? I want a sitcom or a two-part anime special on Netflix about that guy and his machine gun; because that's the real question. We need to know what happened to him.— SquidgeAnd he was referring to the background actor on the left of this image. The conversation about that guy and the shoe lady... that is, this shoe lady, naturally evolves into either total madness or a pitch call for the greatest TV show ever. Answers on a postcard, please. And after that comes a discussion on the scene with, possibly, Raul Julia's greatest every monologue. My co-host is my best friend who lives in another state, and this the podcast, kind of, turned into a reason for us to just have that mandated once a week meet up and record. We, you know, like I said, we're on hiatus because I... when I transitioned to this job it was, you know, extra hours, getting up to speed, and then just like mental energy taken up....I am a complete nerd. I like to do crafts, I like to make stuff. The easiest way to put it is: if they sell it at a craft store I can probably... I've probably tried it. Right now I've been making a lot of friendship bracelets, and I have one that says, "Grabthar's hammer" which is one of my favourites. And then I have another one, which actually ties into our episode today and it says, "it was Tuesday" and it is red and black beads for Bison's costume.— MoInitial ThoughtsKeen eye'd (or ear'd?) listeners will note that Squidge had covered this movie with Jay and Z-Boi previously (and here's a link to that episode). But that was a) in an older format and b) not with Mo.This is one of those movies that Chris and I watch all the time. We're chronic rewatchers....So Street Fighter, Galaxy Quest, the Pacific Rim movies. Like, you know, it's usually something that's, you know, action-y and light, you know... like movies like this they're just so fun....But like, you watch something like Street Fighter and it's just so outrageous and so silly. And like, we've talked about this a little bit on Discord and stuff, but Raul Julia's cape work alone. And I could.., it's just stunning. It's just like, he had to work at it because the flair. So I don't know if you've ever worn a cape and tried to do some of those flair moves. It's not easy. BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOUR SINS, WAS BURIED, AND THAT GOD RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD. Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and that God raised Jesus from the dead. This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was.C. CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD. This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was. Every single person who ever lived since Adam will bend their knee and confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings.

In the world of the paranormal, cryptids are terrifying enough as they are. Sasquatch. Chupacabra. The Squonk. There are more than enough scary beasts roaming the earth to keep paranormal investigators up at night. Unfortunately for them, though, there are certain creatures to be even more fearful of… enter the Batsquatch. Deep in the Pacific North West, an area already famous for Sasquatch encounters, lives a Bat/Bigfoot hybrid beast. Fused together in the molten core of the earth inside Mount Saint Helens, it burst forth in the 1980s to stalk the population of Oregon and Washington. Time for Rory and Kit to track it down and investigate.Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunitySupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to weekly bonus episodes!Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeIntro music by www.purple-planet.comEdited by Philip Shacklady Hosted on Acast. In Episode 569: The Poconos Squonk we welcome Isaiah to the show who will walk us through his experience of missing time after encountering a rare cryptid! One night, while driving home from his girlfriend's place, Isaiah encounters something truly bizarre as he collided with a mysterious creature known as the "Squonk" with his car. The Squonk is a creature exclusive to Pennsylvania, and more specifically, the Poconos, where this collision happened. You might be wondering, what on earth is a squonk? Well, you're not alone. In the tree-covered forests of Pennsylvania and the northeastern United States lurks a monster described as being of “so sensitive a nature as to shed tears if its feelings are injured.” Once the thing of lumberjack legends, this squishy, soft-hearted cryptid has moseyed its way into all our hearts. If you find yourself in this beast's preferred habitat, the sounds of winds whistling in the woods may not be the wind at all, but instead the creature's tearful wails. Snaps for everyone who submitted. Snaps for everyone who donated auction items and bid on all the incredible, creepy offerings. We love you all! Thank you so much for your patience and understanding while we had health and tech issues. You heard it all straight from the mongoose's mouth... and that's why we VANISH!
