In this episode, Skyler Reeves, the CEO of Ardent Growth, talks me through his business and how he found his niche. As a child, Skyler was into arts until he discovered his affinity for Math and Computer Science. He also served in the military, observing different cultures among people. His company, Ardent Growth, helps e-commerce brands understand which content they need to make and in what order to get results as fast as possible. In this episode, we discussed: The reason why order matters when putting out contents. How to reduce the time it takes for content to rank. The overlap between trying to solve a problem and producing something with it. The importance of having content strategies and answering your customers' questions through content. Mastering one thing first, then expanding your service offering. The importance of keeping your ROI compounding to keep the business going. Mapping your strategy by thinking about how your customers like to consume information and how they like to buy. How content can almost speak for itself. At present, Skyler's company is trying to figure out how to re-establish themselves and build that top-of-the-funnel awareness. He discussed the things that he had tried doing, and we also came up with the following: If you're trying to increase inbound, it's just around elevating your brand. It may be through podcasts, attending and speaking in conferences, and networking. Speaking at a conference enables you to validate people's assumptions that you know what you are talking about. Identify ideal influencers to partner with. Think about the metrics that matter to you, as far as ROI, and how to measure that. You have to ask your customers to know which channel or mechanism was the most impactful. It's not always a one-size-fits-all. Each person takes a different approach. Think of the solutions that will work and what you can do based on the timing and resources you have. Working with influencers, give the context, and let them come up with the content because they know their audience well. Create a referral program and find some incentive to provide them. In this episode, I talk with Seth Erickson, the CEO of Storify Agency. He helps companies tell better stories about what they are doing, why they exist, and why they have value to other people.Seth also talks about his book, How to Hack Humans: Storytelling for Startups. We discuss his future goals and some ideas to help him achieve them.In this episode, we discussed:  How he realized that authenticity saves a lot of energy trying to be someone else.  The goal of Storify of helping startups communicate their value to investors and the marketplace at large.  How customers would need to know why they should care about what you offer and how it would solve their problems.  Presenting your brands the right way through education.  How important it is for the customers to be the center of the stories you tell about your brand.  Brain simulations created by the stories being told to customers. People usually associate Seth's storytelling skills with extroverted people. On the contrary, Seth is in fact, an introvert. Although human interaction may be dreadful for introverts like him, it is his goal to reach out and help more people through what he does. We came up with the following to help him get to his goals:  Find what feels comfortable and build up from there.  Create posts on a business page first instead of a personal page.  Reach out to friends for referrals.  Listen, choose, and pick feedback that would further improve the business.  Continue sharing on podcast interviews until comfortable enough to talk on a stage in front of an actual audience. We discussed her concern of standing out against the increasing noise in the marketplace, especially in social media, and we've come up with some really great ways to address it.Listen up and learn! In this episode, we talked about: Carmel's journey from working in the academe in Ireland to leaving it, becoming self-employed, and establishing her own business. How she waited for so long, not doing anything because she didn't know what to do. How what happened to her friend scared her and became the turning point in her life. Meeting a businessman in her course that led her to find the need for storytelling in business and found her place in it. The power of dialogue and how, when executed properly, will give the utmost result needed in any area it is used. Carmel raised her concern about the increasing noise in social media and how her message can be heard above it. We arrived with the following ways to do this: Build a community. Get insights from each other. Make the community run by itself, with you observing on the sideline and participating as another part of the community. Choose the right tools. Implement a game plan. In this episode, I had a chat with a very good friend of mine, Karan Nijhawan. He is the Founder of Jube.Karan shares how a disappointing experience at a networking event gave birth to the idea of his business. He talks about the importance of the environment to the growth of each individual. We had a productive brainstorm about some marketing ideas on how to achieve his goals for his business. In this episode, we discussed: The founding principle of Jube (Just Be) is that you are the average of the five people you surround yourself with. How a bad experience at a networking event sparked the idea that eventually became Jube. The mistake of underestimating the effect of the environment on a person. Letting people handle things that you don't want to do but are in their zone of genius. The principle of who, not how. As Karan shares the pivot that he is currently applying to his business, shifting from high ticket clients to serving more people at a more affordable price, we discuss the following things to help him achieve that goal: Profit-sharing in exchange for more hands-on mentoring. Create an environment such that the community has the "network effect." Strengthen the community by giving roles to some of the members of the community. Set of procedures where the community runs itself, and everyone is getting a platform to speak. Set the vision and let it run, then check the gaps and find ways to improve. Listen up, and you will find a lot of value in this episode. In this episode, we discussed: How he taught himself to code and was able to code an app that helps find available time slots for delivery of groceries. That great idea cannot be a business if no one is willing to pay for it. Spending a lot of time validating the idea so you don’t waste your time developing a product that eventually will not sell.
