Welcome to the FPL Lounge. Sit back and relax whilst listening to Andy and Chris discuss the week's FPL happenings. With Andy's blend of stats and football knowledge (which saw him finish in the top 5k overall last season) and Chris' unique, perhaps more neutral view on FPL, you might just pick up a few helpful tips along the way too (although don't hold us to that!). Every good lounge should be relaxing and so the FPL Lounge aims to be detailed enough that its helpful for your mini league position, without taking things too seriously.
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW37.It's the penultimate gameweek of the season, and with four teams approaching cup finals in GW37, is it time to target their opponents? The lads think so, with some opportunities to beat mini-league rivals and gain rank. The players on the radar are, therefore, mostly playing those teams with their focus elsewhere. There's a West Ham talisman, a striker with potential for increased minutes, and a super-differential player potentially deputising out of position.A classic FPL Lounge troll can be swam against this week, with increasing underlying numbers unsustainable. Captaincy is a mixed bag, with plenty of under-the-radar options that could win (or lose) mini-leagues. And can Andy wrap up Who The Heck Is Stat?! for the fifth consecutive year?Do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW36 with a shortened pod. With the Premier League confirming that there will not be - unless there are unforeseen postponements - any further double or blank gameweeks this season, for those that have saved chips just in case, when is the best time to use the in the remaining three GWs? The lads run the rule over the options. This could have been the case all season, but with just three gameweeks to go, it's all about targeting the already-relegated sides on the radar. Which Brentford asset makes the most sense against Ipswich this GW, can Chris Wood regain his scoring touch against Leicester and do any City assets vs Southampton make this week's radar? And for the 18th episode in a row, Chris talks up Jarrod Bowen (with some added Kevin Schade for good measure). They move straight to captaincy, to discuss the buzz surrounding Bryan Mbuemo and Kevin De Bruyne, and debate whether there are better options. And with just two rounds of Who The Heck Is Stat?! to go, the lads will return with that game in GW37-38.Do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW35.The lads look - as ever - at European rotation and what that could mean for those involved in Europe and those playing against those teams, especially with Man United and Tottenham clearly focusing on the Europa League. The lads also weigh up the likelihood of further double and blank gameweeks.A radar returns but it's far from bursting: two buzzy Bees take a spot on the mid-range, with a Cherry on the Fringe being joined by a deceptively stingy defence facing some weak attacks in coming weeks. And Chris can't go a podcast without mentioning Jarrod Bowen.More honey traps this week, while captaincy looks a mixed bag, with no standout option and team goal spreads looking low - maybe presenting an opportunity to steal a march on your mini-league rivals. The lads end, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?!Do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW34.The double last GW means a blank this GW as the FA Cup semi-finals take place, keeping some teams out of action. With few other major free hit opportunities this season it seems a vast majority of managers are on their free hit this week - and as such the usual longer term radar has less use. So, its a game by game review of the best available assets this gameweek - akin to our usual gw38 shows. This should help you with the multiple moves you'll be making across your team. At the end, there is a quick summary of who might work for those not able to free hit - good options for this week that can last in your team longer term too. With transfers dominated by the free hit, the lads will be laying out honey traps again this gameweek. Captaincy is a very intriguing one. A number of goalscorers have good fixtures this gameweek and as the season comes to its climax, for many its time to start rolling the dice! The lads are back to preview GW33.GW33 is another double, this time involving four teams: Arsenal, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace (again) and Manchester City. Reasonably tough games for them all (except perhaps Arsenal), but with Arsenal and Aston Villa involved in Champions League, and with Villa and Palace awaiting an FA Cup semi final, how many minutes will their assets get in this double? The lads are... unsure. The radar is notably light, there, trying to focus on security of minutes rather than players with big upside. One mid-range gem could be found in Arsenal's defence, while the rest are reduced to Fringe picks, although plenty to get on board with, especially if you're playing your Bench Boost chip this week. After last week's successful Swim Against The Tide, the lads are honey trapping this week, with clean sheets and DGW points the propositions of the day. The Captaincy discussion is also fuelled by minutes risks, so is this a week where captaining a defender or keeper worthwhile? And what about a single-gameweek-Salah up against an atrocious Leicester? And is Who The Heck Is Stat?! over, with Andyt holding a 10-point lead? Can Chris do anything to make this interesting? Doubtful, but you never know...Do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW32.GW32 is indeed a double, with both Crystal Palace and Newcastle having two fixtures. Both of the Toon Army's fixtures are at home, while the Eagles face two of the league's top six away... but can Oliver Glasner's side cause some upsets? And with a view to DGW33 featuring Arsenal and Aston Villa, their tough European fixtures will inevitably mean Premier League rotation, with popular assets like Saka, Saliba and Morgan Rogers offering a fair amount of risk to FPL managers. The lads run through the permutations. With recent radars focusing heavily on DGW33 players, and with next week's radar likely to do the same, the lads take a slightly different approach this week. One very affordable Newcastle asset features on the mid-range, along with a team whose defence is posting good numbers (despite some calamitous recent individual errors!). A budget forward also gets a radar spot.Swimming Against The Tide also features a unique move from the lads, featuring two players in the top 9 most transferred out - but these two are the only ones not carrying a flag in FPL. The advice: hold them, if you can!Alexander Isak will be a very popular FPL captain this week - and indeed, for many, a triple captain - but there are other options too, with some decent teams with good assets playing relegation fodder. And there is a return, finally, for Who The Heck Is Stat?!Do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW31.Another shortened pod this week due to a short-turnaround deadline, but there's still plenty to discuss.DGW33 is confirmed, with the predicted shape of it previewed on last week's pod. I'm sure it'll mean there's plenty of Arsenal, Villa, Palace and City chat in the coming GWs! Two big injuries to well-owned defenders also dominate FPL news, while European football returns next week with varying potential for rotation and managed minutes, especially among those competing in the Champions League.Crystal Palace remain popular on the radar, but only one Eagle features on the centre this week, with another being down-graded to the mid-range. That section also features a returning premium asset (no prizes for guessing who), while the Fringe includes some Villa punts with high ceilings but low floors. No captaincy option holds much appeal this week, with Saka's minutes likely managed, Isak's flag, Marmoush playing a team that tends not to concede many chances from open play, and dreadful underlying numbers for Mo Salah. Where will the lads land?If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW30.Shortened pod this week after the lads return from a stag do, and with a Tuesday deadline after FA Cup QF weekend, there's much to talk about! The shape of the rest of the FPL season, while not confirmed, far clearer than it was ahead of GW29, with the FA Cup semi-finalists confirmed and likely resulting in 4 teams blanking in GW34, and 4 teams doubling in GW33. The lads run through what that, and an injury to Erling Haaland, now mean for the game.Crystal Palace are going to be very popular in FPL from now until the end of the season , with three possible doubles (and two possible blanks) between now and the end of the season. With that in mind, two Eagles feature on the centre of the radar, with an additional one on the mid-range. The lads also include a City asset with upside, and doubling defenders. In a shortened pod they skip straight to captaincy, where they assess whether Marmoush and Mateta, playing two of the worst sides in the league this season, can rival Mo Salah's captaincy supremecy. If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW29.And it's a blank gameweek, with four teams not playing due to the EFL Cup Final, there's plenty of strategy divergence for FPL managers to navigate. There's a player on the centre of the radar this week, but a big chance you already own him! Andy & Chris don't, though, and despite being fairly against this player all season, he feels essential this week. A somewhat-maligned defence has some short and long-term appeal on the mid-range, with a wing-back with attacking upside and a very cheap £4.0m option giving some appeal. Things have gotten slightly worse, but still ultimately can only get Beto, on the fringe.Double down on a swimming against the tide? Why not? Despite blanking again, one premium asset feels like returns are imminent based on he underlying numbers. And with Salah blanking, who do we turn to with our captain's armband? The lads finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who the Heck Is Stat?! Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW28.The final GW before the season really starts and strategy begins to matter, the lads run through all of the new information we now know following FA Cup 5th round weekend, with blanks and doubles starting to shhape up, but with clarity far from achieved.A pretty sorry radar sees the 1997 "things can only get Beto"2 party continue, but while running the rule over another highly-owned forward on the Fringe, the lads try to answer the question: where is Erling Haaland? A pair of Brighton assets show some appeal, but the FPL landscape, barring strategy with blanks, doubles and chips, feels increasingly bleak.Good job the lads can provide some juice by swimming against not one, but two of the top 5 most transferred out this week, and they also run the rule over Mo Salah's declining underlying numbers as he faces a leaky Southampton defence this GW, making him a very popular captaincy choice - but is he the best way to go?The lads finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who the Heck Is Stat?! Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW27.A midweek GW means it's a sharp turnaround from the lads, but there's plenty to talk about as always.Let's party like it's 1997, because things can only get Beto on the radar. Everton's in-form budget forward makes it on, but how high does he feature? Two midfield options also make it onto the fringe, with one an FPL Lounge favourite of old whose price is finally starting to have some, albeit limited appeal. There's also some chat about a real Chelsea differential ahead of two very appealing fixtures.Nothing to swim against so the lads try to catch each other in their honey traps, with goals the focus of discussion. The Mo Salah perma-captaincy continues, but with some differential options available, especially if a premium asset can use a get-right fixture to recapture some form. The lads finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who the Heck Is Stat?! Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW26.Midweek rotation and the announcement of an unexpected DGW later in the season are covered in the talking pointsPlenty of good value options around in FPL at the moment and the lads discuss a few on their radar this week. Including some movement - up and down - of players who continued there from last weekOne of the most expensive players in the game is on the chopping block this week - so why are the lads swimming against the tide of managers getting rid? Captaincy sees the a tricky fixture for the GOAT so are there other options? How about the top striker for non-pen xG against one of the leakiest defences? The lads finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who the Heck Is Stat?! Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview DGW25.The news starts with a look ahead to the DGW and what that means for chips, blanks and doubles going forward. There's some interesting non-DGW players on the radar this week including a number of inexpensive options with good fixture runs on the horizon. But why are the DGW players not there - the lads discuss all, plus anyone else they've got their eye on.Not much to swim against this week so the Honey Traps are back out - what do the lads think is likely to happen this GW?Captaincy seems like a shoe-in, with maybe even a cheeky Triple Captain opportunity - but are there any options outside the GOAT?The lads finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who the Heck Is Stat?! Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview DGW24. With Everton and Liverpool having two fixtures in GW24 - including the final ever Merseyside Derby at the grand old lady that is Goodison Park, the lads check in on strategy, including which chips, if any, it could be worth playing this week. They also look at European rotation while the final round of Champions League games are in play. With a strong Liverpool theme to last week's radar, this week is no different, but with some movement and some picks against the grain, including remaining bullish on a Liverpool player with 0.03 xGI in last weekend's thumping of Ipswich. The lads swim against a Bournemouth player running hot - probably too hot - with FPL returns that simply cannot be sustainable, especially with a difficult fixture this GW. There's only one option for captaincy this week, but should he be tripled captained? And Who the Heck Is Stat?! returns - can there be a fifth 3-pointer in a row? If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW23. European rotation is the only major talking point (beyond Man City's continued collapse and potential elimination from the Champions League), with Liverpool rotating a few but generally strong sides from England's other European competitors. There's a strong Merseyside Red theme on the radar, and who can critique it - Arne Slot's title hopefuls are, of course, on the verge of DGW24, and with Ipswich and Wolves sandwiching those two fixtures, plus a European dead rubber and a straight-forward-on-paper FA Cup tie, now is the time to flood your team with Liverpool assets. The lads run the rule over the main protagonists. The lads take an especially icy dip in the sea to swim against the tide this week, while captaincy feels a straight shoot-out between the two most in-form players in the league. And Who the Heck Is Stat?! returns - can Andy now reply with another big score? If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW22. Following a midweek GW with plenty of goals, the lads have used the time wisely - thinking about chip strategy! They've had a look at the spreadsheets and the double gameweeks and tried to come up with something of a plan... though a plan still with plenty of caveats! It's yet another light radar, with two returnees - one of whom does get upgraded to the mid-range - and just one addition, with the lads lamenting a lack of forwards presenting themselves as viable and consistent options in the game. No swimming against the tide this week so the lads try to catch each other in their honey traps - will either escape with that sweet, sweet nectar? Captaincy is a conundrum, with little to choose between the three available premium assets (although news has surfaced since recording about an injury to one of them!). And Who the Heck Is Stat?! returns - can Chris reply with another big score? If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW21. With FA Cup R3 done and dusted - with no major giant killings despite Tottenham's best efforts - attention turns back to FPL with a midweek round of fixtures. Plenty of announcements first: Assistant Manager pricing has been revealed, along with the first Double GW of the season coming in GW24, when the Merseyside derby, postponed a few weeks ago, is rearranged. Another light radar sees the retention of two affordable Newcastle assets, with additions coming on the Fringe in the form of a budget striker with good underlying numbers, and a cheap way into a well-ranked defence post-injury. No swimming against the tide or honey trap in a shorter pod, so the lads finish with captaincy, looking at Isak vs Salah and pondering whether Bruno owners could risk an armband vs Southampton. Who the Heck Is Stat?! returns next gameweek. If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Happy New Year from the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview GW20 Preview! No new year hangover here though - the lads are straight into some new year rotation, and have got an eye on fixture congestion, with an earlier-than-normal return of European Football, plus EFL Cup semi finals and two FA Cup rounds all in between the next six FPL GWs. It also breeds a conversation about strategy and chips. The radar is light again, although a Newcastle defender gets an upgrade ahead of a trip to Tottenham, while a few new additions to the fringe include a Fulham defender about to embark on an excellent fixture run, and a forgotten Arsenal forward in good form. A delightful Swimming Against the Tide dub last week: can the lads follow it up by swimming against a player being ditched en masse by the FPL community. And captaincy feels a foregone conclusion? Think again! The underlying data is still in Salah's favour, but both Andy & Chris are tempted by other, differential options. Can Andy answer the first 3-pointer of the season last week with a trip of his own? Listen to the end with Who the heck is stat?! to find out. If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW19 Preview of the 24/25 season! Full of turkey (and chicken) the lads return after Christmas (and some excellent Christmas television) ahead of the wildcard deadline, for those yet to use the chip. Those players include Andy & Chris, with the WC somewhat influencing the discussion this week. They also take a brief look at the upcoming FPL calendar, and discuss those players walking a suspension tightrope. The radar is light, with Isak moving off the centre and into teams, and the mid-range containing the same pick as three previous weeks. Simply, very few assets are standing out to the lads at the moment. They refresh things with two teammates on the fringe, before looking at Ollie Watkins' potential now Jhon Duran is suspended. Even Swimming Against the Tide has a familiar feel, with the lads going against a player for the second time this season, while all the main captaincy options again are playing away from home. Who the heck is stat?! returns with a festive surprise - points get scored!!! Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW18 Preview of the 24/25 season! A big injury to one of this season's big 4 assets dominates the news as it could have huge impacts on team structure and wildcard plans - speaking of which, the deadline's round the corner! The lads discuss it all A these days lesser-spotted player appearing on the CENTRE of this week's radar, with a couple of new, affordable fringe additions too. No interesting tides on the horizon this week, but who doesn't love a festive helping of honey - the lads have their traps out again. Captaincy looks obvious... doesn't it? And with a festive scheduled more deeply filled than your aunty's mince pies, no time for a Who The Heck is Stat this GW - but back soon! Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW17 Preview of the 24/25 season! Lots to catch up on in the FPL world, with a chat about suspensions, League Cup rotation and two managerial dismissals. Will any Wolves and Southampton assets become more viable with a change of coach? The radar features a few that remain from previous weeks, with the addition of a rare double-up defence, and an in-form striker. The lads again swim against the tide, going against a very affordable midfielder who's caught the eye recently but whose underlying data flatters to deceive. A mixed bag in the captaincy segment follows. They finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW16 Preview of the 24/25 season! And there is news! FPL have finally decided what this mystery chip is all about. The lads run through the latest change to the game we know and love. Plenty of chat on the radar too, with multiple new additions and equally lengthy conversations about those that didn't quite make it. A tentative swim against the tide follows, with a budget striker seeing a lot of sales despite a strong start to the season, while the four premium players in the game are discussed in the captaincy segment, with a focus on two in particular. They finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW15 Preview of the 24/25 season! With the dust barely settling on GW14, the lads run through some key rotation news ahead of a second consecutive quick turnaround. Their radar this week is not blasting out many strong signals, with the only options appearing on the fringe. Towards the end, the lads discuss why so few assets beyond the premiums are making a mark at the moment. A couple of strikers, and a set of defenders are catching the eye. With nothing yet to swim against it means the return of the honey traps - where will the goals be this gameweek? Captaincy again has many viable options this gameweek and the lads go over the pros and cons. They finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW14 Preview of the 24/25 season! After another missed pod (sorry folks) in GW13, the lads are back for the first midweek GW of the season, GW14. With the dust barely settling on GW13, the lads run through some league news, including Andy's hero Ruud van Nistelrooy's appointment as the new Leicester manager. Their radar features a player on the centre, and one on the mid-range, with three on the fringe including a rare goalkeeper selection - if he can keep his place after a drubbing at the weekend. They swim against the tide with a player neither Andy nor Chris can get on board with, while the captaincy conversation involves four or five players with reasonable haul potential this GW. They finish by resuming the low-scoring season of Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and the lads are now on BlueSky too, but without the underscore: @FPLLounge. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW12 Preview of the 24/25 season! After taking a short break due to technical issues and holiday commitments (plus an international break) the lads are back with a GW12 preview and a look ahead towards Christmas. With six fixtures between now and Christmas Day, and eight fixtures between now and the deadline to use your first wildcard, the lads have a quick chat through strategy and the fixtures swings as the season approaches its halfway point. They also discuss those international break niggles which most FPL assets will have miraculously recovered from. A light radar still manages to include two premium assets with great fixture runs, yet middling underlying numbers, and a pricey (but not Premium) forward in very good form. They return with a double swimming against the tide, opposing the FPL groupthink on two players (including one from Andy's beloved Man Utd), before assessing the captaincy options - for which Haaland doesn't seem the principle candidate this week. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW9 Preview of the 24/25 season! A shortened show this week means the lads delve straight into the players on their radar. Cheap forwards seem to be the flavour of the week with some good output, underlying numbers and fixtures for a couple in particular. The return of a former FPL Lounge player of the season also has the lads intrigued. Captaincy follows with an interesting dilemma for FPL managers. 3 blanks in a row for Haaland and City looking off it - but some of the highest projected goals ever for them this GW. The lads discuss the pros and cons. Who The Heck Is Stat is on a break for a couple of weeks as Chris jets off round the world - which may be for the best given how the lads are getting on this season! It will be back with a vengeance once Chris is back in good ol' Blighty later in the season though. Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW8 Preview of the 24/25 season! Back from the international break, the lads start by going over the big non-FPL related news: Thomas Tuchel's appointment as England manager. They also look at any big injuries and late returns from the international fixtures. The radar has a familiar feel to GW7, with only new additions to the fringe, but that does include an old FPL Lounge favourite and a winger with a good fixture run in the next four. No swimming against the tide this week, so the lads try to catch each other in their honey traps, where contrasting approaches make for some spicy traps. Captaincy feels like the first incredibly obvious choice of the season. They finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW7 Preview of the 24/25 season! As is often the case, the lads start by considering the impacts of midweek European action on FPL. Onto the Players On The Radar and - possibly for the first time ever - someone in each position makes it on. A fixture swing for a Big 6 team sees two of their players make the cut, plus one player carried over from last week and a new one who the lads have previously warned against! A huge, and possibly controversial tide to swim against this week but the lads take it on like prime Baywatch Hasselhoff. Followed by a far more routine captaincy discussion They finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW6 Preview of the 24/25 season! Back to a normal length pod after a shorter one last week, the lads start by discussing the minutes and team in midweek action, including a poor result for Andy's Man United in the Europa League and plenty of rotation in the EFL cup. The radar includes a bulky mid-range, with upgrades for one asset in the midst of a big fixture swing, and another new addition that will surprise many long-time listeners. There is also a fringe shout for a cheaper alternative to Mo Salah. It's teh first honey trap of the season, and both Andy and Chris go down a very similar route with it, before discussing whether Haaland should be perma-captain for now. They finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW5 Preview of the 24/25 season! A shortened pod this week because of a holiday in the Lounge, the lads start by discussing the minutes - and injuries - from a midweek round of EFL cup and Champions League matches. A full radar sees a stalwart FPL asset remain on the centre, multiple assets on the mid-range including some budget defenders to pad out your backline, and an intriguing OOP midfielder whose fixtures have just turned. The lads finish this week with captaincy, assessing Erling Haaland's stats vs Arsenal, and looking at two other options with appealing home fixtures. If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW4 Preview of the 24/25 season! International break is over, so the lads are back to FPL, and the new rolling transfers rule means managers have more flexibility to make changes now the transfer window has slammed shut! The lads have a rare double on the centre of the radar, featuring two big-hitters that need no introduction to FPL players, but who have great fiuxtures and greater underlying data. They've also got two teammates on the fringe that can, if they survive European rotation, could have high-upside given their relatively modest ownership. They swim against the tide once again this week, this time looking at a player who has been transferred in by over 500k players since GW3. Captaincy feels like a toss-up between Salah and Haaland, although the lads look at some differential options targeting some leaky defences.
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW3 Preview of the 24/25 season! Transfers and price change galore this week - the lads discuss the talking points from these and the impact on FPL. They next consider which players are on their radar - tasty looking attacking midfielders continuing to be the theme, but also one very attacking defender strongly catching the eye too! They swim against the tide once again this week, this time looking at the player who has had the most transfers out. Captaincy seems open again this week and the lads discuss who could be considered as realistic options, before they finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter), Insta, Threads or TikTok, @FPL_Lounge, and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW2 Preview of the 24/25 season! With not much going on in the wider football world the lads being with their players on the radar. What are the upsides of transferring in any given player this gameweek versus rolling the transfer for future use? The lads go on to consider a high potential attacking player who has creeped his way up the radar, as well as some mid priced midfielders who are starting to catch the eye. They swim against a large tide this week, discussing why they think you should avoid following the crowd and bringing in the highest transferred in player so far (a defender who looks like he loves to get forward!). An FPL tale as old as time re-emerges in the captaincy discussion before they finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW1 Preview of the 24/25 season! FPL is back, bebe! The lads are excited for another FPL season to begin, but with many changes to the game, and some interesting price points for many popular players, the idea of a template seems more tricky than ever. The lads begin with their radar picks, including a high-owned premium asset on the centre of the radar, but whose ownership at this time last season was more than double what it currently is. Is this player's price rise worth it? Andy & Chris seem to think so! The radar also features a player recently on the move, and a budget defender with low ownership but with high attacking upside. They swim against the tide to kick off the season, with a high-owned midfielder not currently tickling their fancy, before assessing the deluge of great captaincy options to kick off the season. They finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! Can Chris finally win this season? Or will Andy make it 5 in a row? Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW38 Preview, the final preview of the season! For long-time listeners they'll know the format of this show - the lads go through every game (even Burnley vs Forest) trying to pick out the best options for your final GW. They start by running through the final day permutations for the title, European and all-but sealed relegation battles, before looking over historic final day stats. Then, game-by-game, the lads spend two minutes running the rule over the must-haves and the differentials that could make all the difference to your final mini-league or rank standings. After last week's incredibly bold honey trap, are listeners ready for the boldest swimming against the tide in pod history? And while captaincy may have a familiar feel, all that does is build up the tension for the climatic conclusion of a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW37 Preview, the penultimate preview of the season! It's a big double gameweek - the last of the season - with six teams having two fixtures, so a key opportunity for those final chips to be used, especially those that have held their Bench Boost or Triple Captain chip/ The radar has a fresh feel, with additions maybe of a differential nature, given the template feels so strong in FPL at the moment - the best assets are just simply so high owned, the lads offer up some alternatives that may help boost rank but some with the appropriate risks. Honey traps once again the order of the day, with Andy throwing out perhaps the boldest honey trap in FPL Lounge history... Captaincy has a Man City focus, natural given their double, but the lads run the rule over some other doublers that could be great armband differentials for those chasing in a mini-league. They finish, with the penultimate game of Who The Heck Is Stat?! of this season. If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter) or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW36 Preview! The potential for rolling a transfer looms large over this gameweek but there are still plenty of appealing options for your FPL teams. The radar looks similar to last week's with great fixtures and doubles still on the horizon for the league's oil rich clubs. Some movement though with players going up, some going off and some newly appearing. The eyes to next week's double are also wide with the anyone else list slightly longer than usual... That upcoming double also impacting the tide - its very still and clam out there. Nothing to swim against. So the Honey Traps are back out and they make for some useful consequences for FPL. Captaincy looks to be open to a few options this week with ranks swings certainly possible and big returns expected for more than one key player. The lads discuss these pros and cons before finishing with what could be a crucial game of Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter) or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW35 Preview! A double gameweek for two teams gives a focus to this week's pod, although with many managers on Wildcard, the lads run through a few permutations including how seriously to take this DGW35 and when the best time is to play your bench boost. The radar has had a facelift, with plenty of new names to discuss, including a mercurial young Englishman and a super Swede on the mid-range, and a whole host of fringe picks to get you wildcard-ready. Andy even says a few positive things about United players. Honey trap this week suffers from a bit of groupthink, but there's still some takeaways for managers to use, before they run the rule of the big DGW captain shouts and finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter) or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our DGW34 Preview! Big double gameweek for seven teams (and a blank for one) means divergent strategies - including in the Lounge! - so the lads run through some thoughts about how to tackle the DGW34 depending on what chips you've left. There's also a focus on European rotation. The radar has a familiar feel to last week, but with some upgrades for *some* Crystal Palace assets, and the inclusion on the radar for the most expensive defender in the game. Speaking of, they run the rule over Liverpool assets, with a certain attacker notable by his absence... although long-time listeners won't be surprised. Hold your horses AGAIN and don your swimming trunks AGAIN - there's ANOTHER tide to swim against! This player is no favourite of the Lounge, but even so, the most transferred player in not doubling this week? Not for this podcast. Captaincy seems a toss up between two assets, neither of whom look great on the eye at the moment. They end, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter) or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW33 Preview! The key FPL news kicks us off and it focuses on this GW being in a European sandwich. Like last week, the radar is influenced by the chips you may or may not have left, and by a large DGW looming next week. A couple of new additions make their way on including a previously much maligned FPL asset with some very interesting recent stats. Some interesting returns from injury for big players has also caught the lads' eyes. Hold your horses and don your swimming trunks - there's actually a tide to swim against! And its a potentially risky one, but the lads explain why they think transferring in one of the league's best players could be an error. Captaincy seems close this week, with the usual suspects seeming like the best shouts - but which one?!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW32 Preview! A shorter pod than usual this week due to work commitments, but a GW32 preview is here all the same, with all the key info you'll need before the deadline. The lads start with some rotation news from GW31, with several FPL big-hitters either rested to nursing minor injuries. The GW32 radar includes some new additions, including a budget flying defender, and an upgrade from last week's fringe for a Liverpool midfielder. There are also two players, perhaps a bit reactionary, that will fit nicely into teams FHing in DGW34. The fringe itself has a similar feel to last GW. The lads save some time by moving straight to captaincy, where it feels a pretty evenly matched field, with Salah, Haaland and Cole Palmer all very spicy options to be considering for the armband this GW. If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter) or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW31 Preview! Like buses, you wait aged for one pod and then two come along in quick succession! It's a short turnaround to GW31 but there's plenty of FPL news - most of it injury related - and with little time for press conferences before the deadline, some managers may feel underprepared. The lads add some fresh blood to the radar though, with another addition to the centre, a rare foray into a double-up defence in the mid-range, and some Liverpool assets on the fringe. Little to swim against again this week so the lads try to catch each other in their honey traps following a successful trap last week, before a captaincy discussion that is once again, not focused on the machine that is Erling Haaland.
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW30 Preview! It's been a while, due to various illness and work commitments, but the lads are back, and they start by looking ahead to the DGW announcements and think about upcoming chip strategies. they also have a look at injury news after the international break, and also discuss FPL's new Fantasy Challenge game. The radar is brand new, and as strategy-agnostic as they can make it, with TWO players on the centre of the radar - although they'll need no introduction to FPL players. There are budget teammates on the mid-range, and a cheeky cheap goalkeeper to target on the fringe. Little to swim against this week so the lads try to catch each other in their honey traps, before a captaincy discussion that assesses the merits of four players, three with an appealing home fixture, and the other one is Haaland. They end, as ever, with captaincy and a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter) or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our BGW26 Preview! It's a blank gameweek for 4 teams, with some popular assets missing, so the lads run through those BGW fixtures teams and give an update on the FPL calendar over the next few GWs, with some doubles and a large blank on the horizon. The radar has the blanks and doubles in mind, with a Bournemouth player on the mid-range despite a tough fixture this week, while the fringe contains a first mention for a Manchester United player, and some budget midfielders that could be useful through the next few GWs. Little to swim against again this week so the lads try to catch each other in their honey traps, before a captaincy discussion that has an all-too familiar feel.
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our DG25 Preview! It's a double gameweek for 4 teams, including two of FPL's big-hitters, so the lads run through those DGW fixtures and give an update on Man City's strong side in European competition and some injury news for players on a double. The radar has a very familiar feel to GW24, with managers wise to target the double with assets with great underlying numbers and high upside this GW. Little to swim against this week so the lads try to catch each other in their honey traps, before a captaincy discussion including whether to play the Triple Captain chip this GW, and a look ahead to other potential Man City and Liverpool DGWs later in the campaign.
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for a slightly later GW24 Preview (apologies - there was illness in the lounge!) Plenty of updates in the FPL world, including two new doubles, some updates on BGW29 and therefore plenty of chat about chip strategy. The lads unpack and dissect it all to keep you up to date. The radar reflects the changes to the FPL schedule, with DGW25 players featuring prominently, with also a nod to DGW28. The lads swim against the tide this week with a fairly high-owned player being transferred out en masse, despite having some favourable fixtures - including a double - on the horizon. Choosing between Liverpool and City assets may be the challenge this week given both have favourable fixtures, but the captaincy segment focuses primarily on these two sides.
