Who has the power in modern football - clubs or players? In the summer Alexander Isak was called morally bankrupt, where would he be now had he not forced through his move? As the transfer window closed Dwight McNeil was left stranded as Crystal Palace chose not to pursue his transfer and Harvey Elliot remains at Villa with a £35 million price tag which no one wants to pay - both powerless to affect their respective situations. So where does the power lie?It was a quiet transfer window did anyone club come out of it happy? Sheffield Wednesday look like being a key test case for the football regulatorAnd finally, a look ahead to the big match of the weekend Liverpool v City, which club is in the stringer position...Tom Clarke is joined by Tony Cascarino, Martin Samuel and Gregor Robertson. There was an amazing display of unity in North London as Tottenham banded together to help Arsenal win the Premier League this weekend. Haha, no but seriously, Spurs do deserve some respect for the way they came back against Man City in very difficult circumstances.Marcus, Luke and Vish are here to unpick another fabulous weekend in the Kingdom, mainly thanks to Ian Holloway, it must be said. Plus, Luke explains why he thinks Hugo Ekitike is a better striker than Alexander Isak.Get your Ramble merch HEREFind us on Bluesky, X, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and email us here: show@footballramble.com.Sign up to the Football Ramble Patreon for ad-free shows for just $5 per month: https://www.patreon.com/footballramble.***Please take the time to rate us on your podcast app. It means a great deal to the show and will make it easier for other potential listeners to find us. It was a weekend of two halves - Chelsea, Spurs and Fulham all came back from two goals down at half time...only Fulham didn't hang on. As Man City wobbled they looked to have lost their swagger - Gregor Robertson thinks it is clear why. Chelsea came back to win, but why did they make so many changes in the first place? There was plenty of moaning about VAR but if it was taken away would fans be accepting or would the referee abuse just get worse? Alyson Rudd thinks Alexander Isak could be a waste of money, as Wirtz and Ekitike shine, can they really play all three?Lastly who is the Premier League's most versatile player?Tom Clarke is joined by Alyson Rudd, Gregor Robertson and Pete Rutzler Hosted on Acast. Suj and James review another dramatic weekend of football in the Premier League that included a brilliant encounter at St James's Park as Chelsea earned a hard earned point from two down, Liverpool just about getting over the line against 9 man Tottenham, Arsenal staying top for Christmas after victory at Everton, Leeds scoring four against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa maintained their outstanding winning run against Manchester United. A Manchester United for whom Bruno Fernandes was replaced at half time with a hamstring problem, and for owners that's a headache they weren't preparing for. Many owners and non owners will now likely chase the in-demand Hugo Ekitike who scored again, and now looks secure for minutes following a serious looking injury to Alexander Isak. He may even be worth trusting with the armband this week But there's plenty of other assets in demand too, with discussion featuring the likes of Matheus Cunha, Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen. And there's others who are not, such as Igor Thiago who hasn't registered a shot in Brentford's last two outings against Leeds and hapless Wolves. Plus, coverage of defensive options, enablers, and Suj has been on tilt in FPL, Tottenham just have James fully tilted. Alexander Isak's tough start to life at Liverpool went from bad to worse at the weekend as he suffered what's believed to be a broken leg as he scored what proved to be the winner against Spurs. Elsewhere in a busy weekend, Aston Villa continued their fantastic run by beating Manchester United at home, keeping them alongside Man City in the pack chasing Arsenal. In the North East, Newcastle took a 2-0 lead at home to Chelsea before suffering a spirited comeback from the Blues, but it was the officiating that stole the headlines, with the Geordies denied a penalty and a red card during an entertaining game. All that gets discussed as well as Niall, Marley and Joel throwing their pet peeves into the sea on today's FSD. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by returning guests Luke, Marlon and Mitch Fretton as a spirited fightback fell just short as we suffered a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday evening, finishing the game with nine men in a dramatic and chaotic ending at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Having been reduced to 10 men in the first period following a straight red card shown to Xavi Simons for a challenge on Dutch international team-mate Virgil van Dijk, we conceded twice in 10 second-half minutes to Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike as the visitors made the most of their numerical advantage. But we pulled one back through substitute Richarlison, his fifth career goal against Liverpool, and had the visitors on the ropes for the final stages, only to suffer another dismissal when Cristian Romero was sent off for a second yellow and we couldn't find that equaliser in the closing minutes.

The trio analyse Liverpool's standout individual performances in the West Ham victory, starting with the physical data that revealed a slow, low-intensity match. With less pressure on the ball, Florian Wirtz produced his most composed Premier League display, and the panel explore how touch maps, expected passing and xG build-up highlight his growing influence. Si and Hamzah explain why structure and tempo are key to unlocking Wirtz consistently. Attention then turns to Alexander Isak, whose first-half struggles contrasted sharply with a stunning match-winning finish. The group debate his fitness, movement, sharpness and his resemblance to classic penalty-box strikers like Fowler and Lineker. A sharp and honest look at two players who could define Liverpool's direction this season. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
