On Clash of the Correspondents, James is joined by Sunderland fan Spencer Barrowman and Arsenal fan Adam Pritchard to discuss both sides brilliant start to the season, upcoming expectations and the FPL assets we should be considering from both. Will Arsenal ever concede again? They will of course but three goals conceded in 16 games this season and a run of eight in a row without being breached means talk of triple Arsenal defence is worth detailed discussion. It includes whether FPL managers should be concerned about rotation for Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber over the festive period, if David Raya should be an option and the desperation for those without Gabriel to want to get there. But Sunderland's defensive assets have performed well too. Robin Roefs is the highest scoring keeper in the game, there's discussion on Omar Alderete, Nordi Mukiele and Dan Ballard and options further up the pitch in the consistent Granit Xhaka and also Enzo Le Fee and Wilson Isidor. And should Viktor Gyokeres owners sell? Is Mikel Merino worth a short-term punt? Is Leandro Trossard going under the radar? And if Declan Rice can maintain his consistent FPL returns? On James live stream today the players of interest for those who want to Wildcard in GW13 is looking less and less appealing, will Liverpool assets be wanted because they play for Liverpool rather than actually being good assets? And does similar apply to players at Manchester City and others? Plus, Mikel Merino possibly offers a short term option for FPL managers, Arsenal defensive assets remain wanted, there's discussion on FPL forwards, hit taking and reaction to Tottenham's victory last night including the performance of Xavi Simons and 'that' Micky Van De Ven goal. The Mayor of FPL Tom Campbell guest hosts the Gameweek Review Podcast this week with James to discuss the fallout from the 9 games played in Gameweek 10, and it featured some shocking performances, none worse than James' Tottenham who limply lost to Chelsea. Newcastle can also lay claim to a shocker as they were beaten at West Ham yesterday, whilst there were important wins for Liverpool and Manchester City, but they are no closer to an Arsenal side who won to nil at Burnley. There's an FPL overview on every side that played, short-term punts to consider, the genuine merits of owning players like Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo, the appeal of forwards versus midfielders, Crystal Palace assets and lots more. Plus, Tom took on an unusual challenge in FPL this season, and though it hasn't worked as hoped, he's finding enjoying playing more than he did last season. Arsenal Success Would Mark Colossal Liverpool & Man City Failure, Eight Injury Updates to Come
With many FPL managers having invested heavily in their front line, now might be the time to release funds by swapping to a cheap third forward and utilising that money elsewhere
A good week to have a bad week? Probably. But for FPL managers who started any of Joe Rodon, Bryan Mbeumo or 23 point scoring Micky Van De Ven it was probably a good week. Suj and James even managed to sell one of the few other popular players who hit a double digit return, in Pedro Porro, who assisted one of Van De Ven's two in Tottenham's 3-0 win at Everton. But was the win as good as the scoreline suggests? All the games reviewed as the three promoted clubs all won, struggling West and Wolves were two of those on the wrong end of those results, while Chelsea were surprisingly beaten by high flying Sunderland at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool lost again, this time at Brentford, and Manchester City were beaten too at Aston Villa, whilst Arsenal extended their lead with victory over Crystal Palace. Eagles assets will be popular this week, as will again Arsenal players, and Mbeumo will also be popular having scored twice in Manchester United's victory against Brighton which means they've now won three in a row.
