Send us Fan MailIn this special episode of Bench Boost, the Inorganic Ventures podcast, host Mike Booth sits down with Erik Miller and Will Marble from Pure Laboratories to discuss the growing demand for ultra-high purity materials. They explore challenges surrounding raw material quality, rare earth supply, custom synthesis, and how material purity impacts advanced industries including semiconductors, energy storage, and aerospace.
Send us Fan MailThe Arkham Avengers panel wraps up its deep dive into the chip strategies of this season's top Fantasy managers as they finally reveal how the league champions plotted their route to glory. Were the Wildcards perfectly timed? Did the Triple Captain pay off? And which manager squeezed every last point from their Bench Boost?Away from Fantasy Football, the lads catch up on the latest twists and surprises from the World Cup, with a special nod to France for Eamon, while Hector continues to file ...no....reports from somewhere in Brazil...the panel are wondering if he might have ditched the show.Expect football chat, questionable opinions, plenty of laughs and the usual Arkham Avengers banter as another season retrospective rolls on.If you would like to get in touch you can email us at arkhamavengerspodcast@gmail.com
Send us Fan MailEpisode 5 sees the Arkham Avengers panel continue their forensic investigation into the FPL managers, this time analysing the chip strategy of those who finished from 11th to 6th. Some managers mastered their Wildcards, others forgot they even had them, while one Bench Boost delivered the grand total of... absolutely nothing!Elsewhere, Damo has finally been released from the doghouse (subject to strict conditions) while Hector continues to send absolutely no football reports from Brazil despite claiming to be our World Cup correspondent.Eamon is still convinced Scotland can shock the world. We also look back at Mayo's dramatic All-Ireland victory over Meath and wonder if Martin Carney has recovered from the excitement. It's Fantasy Football, World Cup chat, GAA banter and complete nonsense... just another week with the Arkham Avengers! If you would like to get in touch you can email us at arkhamavengerspodcast@gmail.com
Send us Fan MailJoin Mike this week on Bench Boost as he explores the basics of conductivity measurements. We review the theory of how conductivity is dependent on ion concentration, charge, and mobility. He describes how contact probes work, emphasizing the cell constant and how proper probe selection to avoid poor sensitivity or signal saturation. Temperature is highlighted as a major variable, often ~2–3% per °C. Lastly we cover calibration using NIST-traceable KCl standards, and how calibrating near the sample range and controlling errors can lead to accurate and reliable data.
Send us Fan MailThis week on Bench Boost we discuss titration techniques based on USP 541 and the Inorganic Venture's Titration Tips and Tricks guide. Mike explains the difference between equivalence point and observed endpoint and how key performance factors can include using the correct glassware, appropriate techniques, and thorough cleaning of burettes. We also cover the correct way to read a meniscus, and how optimizing sample size can prevent poor replicate agreement and high result variability.
James went and hid, Suj could barely watch. The debate will rage on and on about that West Ham disallowed goal yesterday, and it's debated here following a review of the opening 9 games in Double Gameweek 36. Cherki v Semenyo got an answer on Saturday; it was Doku! Haaland Triple Captainers have been rewarded and those with a Bench Boost may also have come out of the weekend well. Bournemouth truly have Champions League in their sights, Palace, Leeds and Forest are now officially safe too, leaving Suj and James' "donkey race" to survive. One and two week FPL punts discussed, but it's not easy finding attractive differentials and a City slip on Wednesday, with Arsenal nearly Champions, could make their assets unappealing for Gameweek 37 with their FA Cup Final against Chelsea on Saturday three days before their trip to Bournemouth who are now 16 unbeaten. If you're like us, you've just used your Wildcard, Bench Boost, and then Free Hit, back-to-back-to-back, thereby exhausting all of your chips for the season (and hopefully having moved significantly closer to your rank target!). Now that the dust has settled, it's back to good ol' standard chipless FPL for the final four gameweeks of the season. With Crystal Palace set to double in Gameweek 36, we consider which of their players (presuming everyone is already tripled-up on Man City) might be the most desirable, as well as which assets who are currently in our teams from the Wildcard might be the most well poised to make way. Captaincy feels closer than usual—Everton away looks potentially tricky for Haaland, while Bruno could benefit from an open game against Liverpool at home—especially keeping in mind that he's certainly gunning for that illustrious, elusive record of 20 assists in a single season.Follow us on Twitter: @FplFortress
On James live stream, lots of FPL dilemmas answered, featuring playing the Bench Boost, differentiating from the template, GW35 captaincy, Chelsea assets, Tottenham assets (yes really!), waiting for the right moment for Arsenal assets, Palace assets for the double, benching dilemmas and more. Is it over for City if they don't win on Sunday? Plus, key FPL discussion on best City assets for the double and beyond, with discussion featuring O'Reilly, Guehi v Nunes, Cherki & Haaland. A week of swings in FPL with the Wildcard to Bench Boost crowd going against everyone else, and ultimately many did quite similar. But that won't be the case everywhere... Suj and James discuss all the key talking points and games from the weekend as Jarrod Bowen and Igor Thiago rewarded those who held or invested, but there were others with doubles to come who performed well such as Bart Verbruggen and Neco O'Reilly. But O'Reilly may now be out so is it now a case of Marc Guehi versus Rayan Cherki for the third City spot in the double? Can managers dare to take Erling Haaland or Antoine Semenyo on? Coverage of the teams who double, which includes a Bournemouth side who blew the title race back open with a brilliant victory at Arsenal, which means City could be top in 9 days. Plus, why different strategies for 33 may alter the players that are of interest and Tottenham have entered the bottom three. Here are my Updated Transfer Plans for FPL GW33. _____________
After the longest mid-season break the Premier League has ever experienced (a statement that has not been fact-checked but feels undeniably true), we are finally back to discuss best strategies for the run-in to Gameweek 38. Arsenal crashed out of the FA Cup, which means Wildcarding in preparation for what was supposed to be a juicy Bench Boost in Double Gameweek 33 is suddenly far less attractive—but we think Wildcarding this gameweek might still be the optimal move, given the ever-decreasing time left in the season. With six teams still doubling, we peruse the best options from each of them, ultimately arriving at a suggested Wildcard draft. Though the draft may look a little underwhelming at first glance, it's the best we've got—and the best is all we can ever strive for.
It was all looking so straightforward for those intending to Wildcard in GW32 and Bench Boost in GW33, but then Southampton beat Arsenal in a Saturday night FA Cup shocker - and then there was the drama of Leeds beating West Ham on penalties that might hinder strategists too. So what now for Chip Strategy? David joins James for a detailed discussion and a look at the different paths managers can take for the FPL run-in, including the big predicament facing many Wildcarders. Should they really make their GW32 team look worse to get a better GW33 Bench Boost!? Alternatives for those with all chips intact are covered, and we've not forgotten those who are short of chips either. There's focus on Wildcard 32v35 and why the right answer for some might be neither, free hit 33v34, what's likely to happen with the still unarranged Manchester City versus Crystal Palace fixture, Bench Boost opportunities and concerns plus lots more... With Arsenal exiting the FA Cup, our FPL strategies are now under serious review. We pick through the bones of the FA Cup ties, ask what went wrong for Liverpool (again) and whether Chelsea can be trusted again? With Wildcards in back pockets all over the community, poised to be played in GW32, ready for a big Bench Boost 33 - we ask whether it's really that simple any more....and do we really want to treble up on Brighton, Leeds and Burnley? A lot to consider at this defining crossroads of the 25/26 season.A massive THANK YOU for all your support watching, liking and sharing our videos!__________________________
An updated discussion on Chip Strategy following the completion of the FA Cup games and Quarter Final Draw, with discussion on projected blanks and doubles and also important context on what the English clubs having a bad week in the Champions League may mean. The Podcast features a look at when may be best for chip usage and alternatives for those who may have used chips, why GWs 35-38 could have an impact on whether FPL managers Free Hit in 33 or 34, what may happen to Manchester City v Crystal Palace if it doesn't go into DGW33, an upcoming timeline of events to take note of that can move projections again, the important role of TV revisited and lots more including a strong warning to be careful for those planning to Wildcard in GW32 and Bench Boost in DGW33. Following the weekend' FA Cup football and last night's 5th round draw Suj and James revaluate the outlook for Chip usage for the rest of the season, and though current projections remain unchanged there's lots that could change in the coming weeks and that may force many FPL managers to move away from the current template strategy. What will happen to the Manchester City v Crystal Palace fixture? Could Gameweek 33 be the only remaining Double Gameweek? Should Bench Boost be used now or held for later? It's all covered, including alternative 'out' chip strategies if at short notice Gameweek 32 would look bad for a Wildcard followed by a Gameweek 33 Bench Boost, why certain fixtrures could be forced into certain weeks, if non European teams could have postponements go into random weeks and more, including why the next big event that could alter the landscape is the scheded April TV selections... Suj and James review all the action from Gameweek 8 which included some extraodinary individual showings as Erling Haaland recorded another brace, Jean-Philippe Mateta scoring a hat-trick but underperforming (!) his xG on the day and Cody Gakpo scored, hit the woodwork three times and missed a sitter. Those Gakpo misses were in a rare Anfield Liverpool defeat that means it's four defeats in a row for The Champions in all competitions. What's going wrong? Manchester United were the victors at Anfield and now may feel they can put a consistent run of results together. Plus, Ange Postecoglu's spell in charge of Nottingham Forest is over, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth was carnage, Tottenham's poor showings finally caught up with them, while Burnley and Sunderland defensive assets rewarded the FPL managers who started them or used them as part of a Bench Boost. While Arsenal and Chelsea assets continue to appeal following away wins and clean sheets recorded with Gabriel and Reece James the biggest returners. With Manchester City entering a positive swing of fixtures that begins with the visit of Burnley, Suj and James decided this would be a good time to revaluate strategy for chip usage in the first half of the season. The Podcast kicks off with discussion on if Crystal Palace's progress in the Carabao Cup could lead to blanks and doubles in December and there's an assessment of 'danger fixtures' where rotation could bite due to short turnarounds or difficult fixtures either side of 'easier' games.
