In today's episode, Ryan talks with retired Brigadier General and military historian Ty Seidule about five remarkable Americans whose stories embody courage, sacrifice, service, and leadership. They also talk about why the people we choose to honor matter, what the renaming of military bases reveals about American history, and why telling the truth about the past does not mean giving up on greatness.Ty Seidule served in the U.S. Army for more than three decades, retiring as a brigadier general in 2020. He is a professor emeritus of history at West Point and served as vice chair of the Congressional Naming Commission, which was tasked with renaming Department of Defense assets that honored Confederates.Ty Seidule is the author of A Promise Delivered: Ten American Heroes and the Battle to Rename Our Nation's Military Bases and Robert E. Premier League clubs just spent over a billion euros moving ten players around Europe in the middle of a World Cup summer — and we're breaking down which transfers are actually good for the hobby and which ones are just noise. This episode: our final take on the World Cup finish, then a deal-by-deal ranking of the ten biggest transfers of the summer — fee, scouting profile, and most importantly, the rookie card behind each one. From Morgan Rogers' pre-breakout Select Terrace RC to Johan Manzambi's practically unpopulated 2026 Donruss rookie, we tell you what to buy, what to hold, and what to fade. Then we shift into product: a full breakdown of 2026-27 Topps Flagship Premier League Soccer (the base set just got trimmed from 450 to 300 cards — here's why that's a buy signal) and 2026 Panini Prizm Sticker FIFA World Cup, Panini's Dutch Auction sticker/Prizm hybrid that's pricing a nostalgia product like a grail.

Cris Bazan grew up in Texas, started gang banging as a young teenager, and eventually started his own street gang with his brother before a nine year sentence in the Texas state prison system at 17 years old pulled him into the Texas Syndicate — setting off 20 years of life inside some of the most violent correctional facilities in the country. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, he describes what the Texas prison system looked like in the early 2000s, what starting wars with gangs like Tango Blast actually involved, what getting confirmed and validated as a Texas Syndicate member meant and what getting sent to the SHU after validation really looked like, and how violent the state system was during that era. He also opens up about catching a federal sentence after his release, spending five years in the toughest federal penitentiaries in the United States, and what the difference between state and federal prison as a Texas Syndicate member really revealed about which world was more dangerous. _____________________________________________ #texas #truecrimecommunity #prison _____________________________________________ Connect with Cris Bazan: YouTube: https://youtube.com/@crisbazan956?si=TdKdn0F5XQio-fLu Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/1MDHYTuCuD/?mibextid=wwXIfr TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@crisbazan956?_r=1&_t=ZP-97vDdgMbs4N Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crisbazan956?igsh=MXByeG4xeHppa2l0eA%3D%3D&utm_source=qr _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Timestamps: 00:00 Introducing Cris Bazan's Story 01:00 Upbringing, Family, and Early Gangs 05:00 Creating N2P and First Gang Experiences 10:00 Entering Prison and Joining Texas Syndicate 16:00 Prison Politics and Survival Tactics 21:00 Gang Wars, Rivalries, and Institutional Life 27:00 Solitary Confinement and Its Impact 36:00 Transition to Federal Prison Life 41:00 Life and Politics in Federal Prison 46:00 Transfers, Riots, and Prison Hierarchies 52:00 Life After Release & Reintegration Challenges 01:01:00 Family, Regret, and Hopes for the Future 01:09:00 Plans, Reflection, and Final Thoughts _____________________________________________ To advertise on the show, contact sales@advertisecast.com or visit https://advertising.libsyn.com/LockedInWithIanBicka
➡️ Watch Martin's Speech HERE: https://youtu.be/sAKz353_MGU?si=-i8i9K4B8a4xuqqW On this week's episode of The Joy of Football Podcast, Martin Tyler and Neil Barnett leave the FIFA World Cup behind and return to domestic football as attention turns to the start of a brand-new club season. Back together in the Kingston Kitchen, the pair begin by reflecting on a very special honour for Martin, after Woking Football Club named their academy facility the Martin Tyler Performance Centre, before discussing the next chapter in English football. In We Need To Talk About, Martin and Neil examine the changing landscape of pre-season tours. Why are more Premier League clubs staying closer to home? Are long-haul commercial tours still worthwhile? And how much should the recent FIFA World Cup influence clubs' preparations? They compare the travel schedules of every Premier League side, debate the Community Shield's move to Cardiff, and discuss the balance between commercial success and player welfare. The discussion then turns to one of football's most controversial subjects: signing young players. With clubs securing deals for teenage talents years before they can officially join, Martin and Neil debate whether football is protecting young footballers or placing too much pressure on them too early. Featuring discussion around Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, J.J. Gabriel, Benji Flowers and the future of youth development. In Three of the Best, Martin and Neil each pick their favourite summer transfers, selecting the best young signing, experienced signing, and overall transfer of the window. The conversation features Youri Tielemans, Callum Wilson, Daizen Maeda, Chris Summerville, Yann Diomande and more, as they explain which moves could have the biggest impact on the 2026/27 season. Martin's Letter From The Gantry celebrates the 35th anniversary of the Premier League, with Martin taking listeners back to the opening weekend of the inaugural 1992 season. He recalls commentating on Leeds United, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Wimbledon, remembers Eric Cantona, Peter Schmeichel, Teddy Sheringham, Brian Dean and many of the Premier League's first overseas stars, before reflecting on just how dramatically English football has changed over the last three and a half decades. Finally, in Stoppage Time, the pair break down the latest IFAB law changes and new refereeing interpretations for the upcoming season, including VAR, throw-ins, substitutions, treatment times, red card reviews and more, explaining what supporters should expect when the new campaign kicks off. Ohio State, Oregon, and Indiana shake up college football's transfer portal, pulling in big-time talents and sparking national title buzz. Can Christian Alliegro anchor the Buckeyes' defense after replacing NFL first-rounders? Will Michael Bennett III's transition from Yale secure Oregon's offensive line and playoff hopes? Nick Marsh's arrival in Indiana raises expectations for a breakout offense—are the Hoosiers poised for a deeper run? The conversation focused on immediate impact players—like Joe Brunner (IU) John Walker and Terry Moore (IU) and Koi Perich (Oregon)—and examined how roster moves could decide conference races. A key theme was the high stakes of offensive line transfers, player development, and coaching philosophy in modern college football. The discussion explored whether heavy reliance on portal talent hurts long-term success and which programs expertly balance recruiting with portal additions. Ken and Lima dig into Ohio State's brutal schedule and whether the Buckeyes could realistically lose four games and still make the expanded playoff, before pivoting into a broader lament about how NIL and the transfer portal have changed the sport. Ken argues something has to give on regulation, pointing to real examples of players getting sued over buyouts, while Owen and Ken share personal stories about players and coaches leaving the moment a better opportunity appears.
