As you know, we gather as a church family tomorrow morning. For Allison and me, Sunday is the best day of the week 'cuz we get to meet with the King and meet with you, our extended family whom we love. My sermon tomorrow zeroes in on the fifth of Jesus' seven personal conversations recorded in the Gospel of John. I'm looking forward to sharing with you what I believe God shared with me in this tense but fascinating encounter. Two quick reminders: First, we have Dinner of Seven coming up in two weeks on Sunday, March 22 (Thanks Kirsten Stracke for organizing). Hello My Fellow Hillsiders! Sunday's rolling around again and the whole staff invites you to join your church family for the 10:00 AM worship service. We are pressing on in our “School of Faith” series on the life of Abraham with an episode in that faith champion's life that I (Dan) particularly like. Here's a thought. If you have a “work Bible” that you mark up and annotate in your daily devotions, I invite you to bring it to church with you. As I unpack the passage, I encourage you to underline or star any part of the passage that gets your intention. Penciling notes and cross references in the margins of your Bible is a great way to grow in your understanding of Scripture. One more thing: Be on the lookout for new people to welcome. We are pressing on in our “School of Faith” series on the life of Abraham with an episode in that faith champion's life that I (Dan) particularly like. Here's a thought. If you have a “work Bible” that you mark up and annotate in your daily devotions, I invite you to bring it to church with you. As I unpack the passage, I encourage you to underline or star any part of the passage that gets your intention. Penciling notes and cross references in the margins of your Bible is a great way to grow in your understanding of Scripture. One more thing: Be on the lookout for new people to welcome. Hello Hillside Family! Have you ever had an experience of the imagination in which you felt pulled out of one realm and pulled into another? I (Dan) have, and I'm talking about it this Sunday morning in my Week 4 message on Genesis 13-14 from our "School of Faith: The “Tests” and Triumphs of Abraham fall series. I'm sure Pastor Wayne will similarly have strange stories of the past to share as he gives his Genesis 13-14 sermon. As the last sentence indicates, our one church family is meeting in two places for service this Sunday, on the hill and at the park. So, if you have a friend who would feel more comfortable on the hill, invite him/her to join you for church at 2060 Magnolia Way. On the other hand, if you have a friend who would feel more comfortable in the park, invite him/him to join you at 1375 Civic Drive.
