Today is day 70 and we are in the section on the Second Article of the Apostles' Creed on Jesus Christ the Son of God. Today we are on the ninth line: “On the third day He rose again” and studying question 70. 70. What kind of earthly life did Jesus have after he rose from the dead? Following his resurrection, Jesus spent forty days visiting and teaching his followers. He appeared to his disciples, spoke to them, invited them to touch him and see his scars, and ate with them. (Luke 24:13–49; John 20:19–29; Acts 1:1–8) We will conclude today with the Collect for Wednesday of Easter Week found on page 610 of the Book of Common Prayer (2019). “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:21 Long before Scripture speaks about budgets, investments, or generosity, it asks a deeper question: What do we truly value? Jesus' words in Matthew 6:21 aren't merely financial advice. They reveal a profound spiritual reality. Our treasures—what we prioritize, pursue, and protect—reveal the direction of our hearts. Understanding this truth reshapes the way we think about money, wealth, and ultimately, life itself. Everyone Is Chasing a Treasure Step into any office, business, or marketplace, and you'll see it quickly: everyone is pursuing something. For some, the pursuit is wealth. For others, it's freedom, comfort, reputation, or security. When you peel it back, treasure shows up in the things we sacrifice for, dream about, and worry over. Money often sits at the center of this pursuit because it seems to promise everything we desire. If we have enough, we imagine we'll finally feel secure, prepared, and in control. But there's a paradox. The more we accumulate, the more we fear losing it. The more we protect it, the more anxious we become. What once promised freedom slowly begins to feel like slavery. The problem isn't that money is bad. Scripture never teaches that. Money is simply a tool. The problem is that our hearts quietly ask money to do what only God can do: save us, secure us, and satisfy us. That's why Jesus spoke about treasure so often. Not because He opposed wealth, but because wealth competes for what belongs to God alone—our trust. Generosity Reveals the Heart Many people assume the solution to the love of money is simply to give more. And generosity is certainly celebrated throughout Scripture. Giving frees us to participate in God's work and bless others. But Jesus never treated giving like a formula. Instead, He treated it like a diagnosis. In Mark 12:41–44, Jesus watched as wealthy donors placed large gifts into the temple treasury. It must have looked impressive to everyone watching. But His attention turned to a poor widow who quietly dropped in two small coins. To most observers, her gift seemed insignificant. But Jesus saw something different. The wealthy gave from their surplus. The widow gave from trust. Her offering wasn't about optics or recognition. It was worship. She treasured God more than financial security. When Giving Isn't Enough Jesus reinforced this idea when He rebuked the Pharisees in Matthew 23:23. They carefully tithed even their smallest herbs—mint, dill, and cumin—yet neglected “the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness.” Their giving was meticulous. But their hearts were misplaced. If the act of giving alone could break the love of money, the Pharisees would have been the freest people in Israel. But they weren't. True freedom doesn't come from giving more. It comes from loving Christ most. The Treasure Worth Everything Jesus tells another story in Matthew 13:44 about a man who discovers a treasure hidden in a field. When he realizes what he has found, he joyfully sells everything he owns to buy the field. Notice what's remarkable about this story: the man isn't grieving his loss. He's thrilled. Why? Because he finally sees clearly what is truly valuable. He isn't losing—he's gaining. That's what happens when Christ becomes our treasure. Everything else falls into its proper place. Wealth becomes a tool instead of a master. Enjoyment becomes gratitude rather than entitlement. Generosity flows from joy instead of guilt. Stewardship becomes participation in God's work instead of anxiety about our own future. The Treasure That Came Looking for Us But the story of treasure doesn't end there. While humanity was searching for treasure, the greatest treasure came searching for us. Jesus didn't simply teach about treasure—He became the treasure who gave everything to redeem us. Hebrews 12:2 tells us that Christ endured the cross “for the joy that was set before him.” That joy was redeeming us. The gospel isn't ultimately a call to give up treasure. It's an invitation to receive a greater one. The Question That Matters Most The real question isn't whether you treasure something. You do. The question is who. Earthly treasures always demand protection. Christ alone protects us. And when Christ becomes our treasure, we gain something the world can never provide: a confidence no market can shake and a wealth no thief can steal. So today, pause and ask yourself the question Jesus raised long ago: Where is your treasure? Because wherever it is, that's where your heart will be also. In this session, we witness the beginning of Jesus' earthly ministry as he is baptized by John and recognized as the Son of God. After his baptism, he is tempted by Satan in the wilderness, but resists all temptations, confirming his purity and righteousness. Jesus then begins his ministry, preaching the message of repentance and calling disciples to join him. We explore his interaction with his disciples, including the famous calling of Simon Peter and a few other fishermen.Bible ReadingsMatthew 3Matthew 4Support the showRead along with us in the Bible Brief App! In this Daily Devotion with Pastor Balla for March 6, 2026, we meditate on Psalm 49:10–12 (ESV), “For He Sees That Even the Wise Die.” This Christian devotion confronts mortality, wealth, human pride, and the certainty of death. Scripture declares that the wise, the fool, the wealthy, and the powerful all face the grave. Earthly success, influence, and possessions cannot prevent death or secure eternal life.Psalm 49 exposes the illusion of permanence and redirects our hope. Human pomp fades. Wealth is left behind. Graves become earthly dwelling places. Yet this biblical reflection does not end in despair. It points us to Jesus Christ, who conquered death through His cross and resurrection. This Lutheran devotion proclaims the Gospel clearly: in Christ, the grave is not the final word. Pastor Jeremy continued the church's journey through the Book of John with a message from John Chapter 5 about the healing at the Pool of Bethesda. His central message was that everyone needs healing, but we must ask ourselves whether we're putting our trust in Jesus Christ or in something else. He explained that the Pool of Bethesda was a real place (confirmed by archaeological discoveries) where multitudes of sick people gathered, believing in an urban myth that an angel would stir the waters and heal the first person who entered. When Jesus encountered the man who had been an invalid for 38 years, He asked, "Do you want to be healed?" (John 5:6). The man's response revealed he was still trusting in the pool rather than recognizing who Jesus was. Pastor Jeremy drew parallels to our own lives, explaining that we all have "magic pools" - things like career advancement, the right relationship, or financial security - that we think will heal or complete us. While these aren't necessarily bad things, the question is whether we're trusting in them or in Jesus for our healing. Pastor Jeremy emphasized that God's plan doesn't always look the way we expect, and sometimes the answer is "not now." He concluded with John 5:24, explaining that there are only two paths: hearing Jesus' words and believing leads to eternal life, while the opposite leads to death. There is no neutral ground - we're all born on the path to death and must choose to move to the path of life through faith in Jesus. Earthly healing is temporary, but Jesus offers eternal life.
You have a God-given desire for greatness. But be careful. Our natural definition of greatness can turn that godly desire into a deadly evil. In this in-depth, verse-by-verse exposition of Mark 10:35–40, we examine one of the most revealing moments in the Gospel of Mark: James and John boldly asking Jesus for the top two positions in His glory. Their request wasn't entirely misguided. It was full of faith. They believed in Christ's coming kingdom. They wanted greatness in that kingdom. But they were still defining greatness the earthly way—by comparison, rank, and superiority. Self-help culture teaches people to make themselves the center of everything, but Ecclesiastes exposes the emptiness of that idea. Life cannot be fully controlled, predicted, or made safe, and trying to do so only leads to frustration. Ecclesiastes stands alongside Proverbs and Job. Proverbs shows how life usually works, Job shows undeserved suffering, and Ecclesiastes shows that even having everything—wealth, wisdom, pleasure, and power—still leaves a person empty. The author repeats the word hevel (meaning vapor or futility) to show that life without God feels temporary and meaningless. When life is viewed only “under the sun,” everything fades, and nothing lasts. But that emptiness points to something deeper: our longing for meaning is evidence that we were made for more than this world. The final hope is found in God's promise to restore all things. Communion reminds believers that this broken world is not the end, but a preview of the greater reality still to come.
Daily Devotion with Pastor Balla for March 1, 2026 reflects on Psalm 48:4–8 and the powerful image of kings assembling against the city of God—only to flee in panic. Earthly rulers may gather with confidence, but human power cannot stand against the Lord of hosts. What appears intimidating from a worldly perspective collapses in the presence of divine authority. This Christ-centered Lutheran devotion points us to the ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ. The rulers of this world assembled against Him at the cross, believing they had secured victory. Yet through His death and resurrection, their apparent triumph became defeat. God established His kingdom forever through what looked like weakness.“As we have heard, so have we seen.” God keeps His promises. His Church is not fragile, and His kingdom is not temporary. Even when opposition feels loud or threatening, the Lord dwells with His people and secures their future.Trust today in the God who establishes His city forever.Support this ministry at
Life presents us with two distinct types of wisdom: earthly and heavenly. Earthly wisdom is driven by selfish ambition and bitter envy, leading to chaos and destruction in our relationships and circumstances. In contrast, heavenly wisdom is pure, peace-loving, considerate, and full of mercy, creating a beautiful life that attracts others to God. These two approaches cannot be mixed - we must choose which source will guide our decisions. True wisdom shows itself through a beautiful life characterized by humility and good deeds, not just knowledge or information. The wisest decision we can make is to consistently choose God's way over the world's way in every area of our lives.
What are you drawing on for strength—your circumstances, your abilities, or the power of Christ? In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds us that only Christ's resurrection power can truly satisfy the empty heart, defeat temptation, and exchange our weakness for His strength. Earthly assets and “wins” may look impressive, but they're nothing compared to the transforming power of Jesus. This devotional also sounds a loving warning: when life is going well, it's easy to drift back into independence and forget the Source of real joy. That's why we must stay alert to spiritual stagnation and choose growth—even when growth stretches us.You'll be encouraged by Scripture's call to keep pressing forward:Run with perseverance, throwing off sin and fixing your eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:1–2).Press on toward the goal, forgetting what's behind and straining toward what's ahead (Philippians 3:13–14).If you've been tempted to coast, quit, or rely on comfort instead of Christ, this episode will re-center your heart on the One whose power never runs out—and whose grace meets you in the struggle.Scripture Focus: Psalm 147:5 The voice you hear on the MY Devotional podcast is digitally generated with Dr. Youssef's permission. If today's devotional stirred a question, burden, or need for prayer, you don't have to walk through it alone.

Life for most of us is long enough to weigh what we believe and why. Yet, life is short in light of eternity. Too many people exchange what is passing for what is eternal. Kierkegaard reminds us it is a period of trial and examination. It comes to an end.

Are You Ready for Your Earthly Death? Is Your Salvation Sure? If Not, Make Yourself Ready Now Through God's Grace and the Gospel MESSAGE SUMMARY: Be ready for the end of your earthly life and the return of the Lord. In 1 Thessalonians 5:1-2, Paul writes to the Christians at the church in Thessalonica: “Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, ‘There is peace and security,' then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So, then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.”. Are you ready? Are you sure in your Salvation? If not, make yourself ready and keep ready! God's Grace and the Gospel of Jesus prepare you for your earthly death while providing the means for your Eternal Life! TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, you know how difficult it is for me to be in silence before you. At times it feels almost impossible, given the demands, distractions, and noise all around me. I invite you to lead me to a quiet, silent place before you — to a place where I can hear you as Elijah did. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 123). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Fear. Rather, I will abide in the Lord's Faithfulness. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). Earthly things never truly satisfy—weak flesh craves more, leading to distractions, addictions, and unraveled lives. In this message, Pastor Tim reveals why we're so dissatisfied and points to the only source of complete, eternal satisfaction: God's full presence in heaven. Drawing from Revelation 21 (new heaven/earth, no more tears/death/pain, free water of life to the thirsty), Luke 23 (paradise), 1 Corinthians 15 (imperishable bodies), and Revelation 7 (endless worship in perfect joy), this message shows heaven as the ultimate paradise where we're at our best—emotionally, physically, relationally—and worshiping forever. Why wait? Start living satisfied now by waiting on the Lord (Psalm 130) and letting the Spirit rule over weak flesh.CONNECT WITH US:→ Request Prayer: https://bit.ly/3zMyf5E→ Request Care: https://bit.ly/3fBTX5G→ Share a Testimony: https://bit.ly/3Jo7Ped→ Find Events and More: https://bit.ly/3TcrkcR→ Leave us a Review on Google: https://bit.ly/47925jP→ Plan a Visit in Person: https://bit.ly/3sfQdg7FOLLOW US:→ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/illuminatec...→ Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@illuminate_ch...→ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/illuminatech...WE HELP PEOPLE FIND ABUNDANT LIFE IN JESUS!

There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. – Hebrews 4:9 In The Saints' Everlasting Rest, Baxter pulls back the curtain on eternity, unveiling the glories prepared for those who love Christ: freedom from all evil, perfection of body and soul, unbroken communion with God, and joy that no one can take away. But while heaven is the perfection of rest, a child of God may even now have Christ's perfect peace and rest, no matter how difficult the circumstances of life may seem. With the urgency of one who experienced near death himself, Baxter pleads with his readers to take God in Christ for your only rest and to make heaven the goal and delight of every day. His stirring words – rich with Scripture, solemn warnings, and radiant hope – have led many to turn from the empty promises of this world and fix their hearts on the incorruptible inheritance kept in heaven. This edition of Baxter's signature work has been painstakingly updated, while still preserving his clarion call to live now in the delightful foretastes of heaven and to persevere until faith becomes sight and joy becomes everlasting. About the Author Richard Baxter (1615–1691) preached “as a dying man to dying men.” He was devoted to God and was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Best known as the minister of Kidderminster in England, his love for God and others resulted in practically the entire town of Kidderminster turning to Jesus during Baxter's ministry there. Richard Baxter desired unity among Christians, which often resulted in opposition from those who held to church loyalty or theological views rather than to Christ and God's Word. Baxter had his share of persecution, even being imprisoned on several occasions.

Today we continue in Ephesianschapter 6, looking at verses 5 through 8, where the Apostle Paul turns hisattention from the home to the workplace. The word "servants," or inthis translation, “bondservants”, undoubtedly refers to Christian slaves, butwe may certainly apply these words to the Christian employee today. There wereprobably 6 million slaves in the Roman Empire in that day, and slavery was anaccepted institution. While the New Testament does not launch a politicalattack against slavery, the Gospel itself undermines it from the inside. Paul'smission was not to overthrow governments, but to transform lives throughChrist. History shows us that when hearts are changed by the Gospel, societieseventually change as well. The principles Paul gives hereapply directly to us today as Christian employees and workers. The workplaceis one of the most important mission fields God has given us. Paul givesseveral reasons why Christian servants—and Christian workers today—are to beobedient and faithful in their work. First, we are reallyserving Christ. Paul reminds these servants that although they have“masters according to the flesh,” their true Master is the Lord. When aChristian goes to work, he does not leave his faith at the door. He carriesChrist with him into the office, the factory, the classroom, or the job site. Beinga Christian employee means showing respect, diligence, and integrity. The factthat an employer and employee may both be Christians is never an excuse to doless work. Instead, it is a reason to be even more faithful. The Christianworker should give full attention and energy to the task at hand, working withwhat Paul calls “singleness of heart.” Paul specifically warns against “eyeservice”—workingonly when the boss is watching, or trying to impress people rather than beinggenuinely faithful. The best testimony on the job is not just what we say, buthow we work. A good day's work done with integrity speaks volumes for Christ. Second, doing a good job isthe will of God. Paul says we are to be “doing the will of God from theheart.” Christianity makes no distinction between sacred and secular work.Any honest job can be an act of worship when it is done for the Lord. Some ofthese servants were assigned tasks they disliked or found difficult. Yet Paultells them to do their work wholeheartedly, as long as it did not requiredisobedience to God. The key issue is the heart attitude. When we work “fromthe heart,” we are acknowledging that our labor ultimately belongs to the Lord. A Christian does not workmerely for a paycheck or for human approval. He works to glorify God. WhenChrist is our true Master, even ordinary tasks take on eternal significance. Itis also good to remember that our vocation or job is God's means of supporting theministry God has called us to. Our first ministry is our family and after thatis our church and other believers. It also gives us the opportunity to support ourresponsibility to fulfill the Great Commission of reaching the lost people withthe Gospel of Jesus Christ. To bear fruit that glorifies God (John 15:8 &16) “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit" Third, we will be rewardedby the Lord. In Paul's day, slaves were often treated as property, regardless of their abilities or character. A Christian slave might even sufferunjust treatment because of his faith. Yet Paul assures them—and us—that no actof faithful service goes unnoticed by God. God is no respecter of persons. Earthly status does not determine heavenlyreward. We serve Christ, not men, and our ultimate reward comes from Him. Thistruth is especially comforting when our work is unappreciated, misunderstood,or unfairly criticized. God sees. God remembers. God rewards. In summary, the Christianworkplace ethic is built on three great truths: We work for Christ, wework according to the will of God, and we work with the assurance ofeternal reward.
“For they {Earthly Parents} disciplined us for a short time . . . but he {God} disciplines us for our good, that we may share his {God's} holiness" (Hebrews 12:10) MESSAGE SUMMARY: The Lord disciplines his children; therefore, so should we. Our discipline can take many forms, for example: 1) teach children a lesson, even hard lessons; and 2) it is OK to take away children's privileges. The Lord's discipline is out of love; and our discipline, for our children, should, also, be out of our love. Nobody likes discipline -- we do not like it; our kids do not like it. However, discipline works to bring righteousness and peace, and discipline brings fruit to us and our children down the road. In Hebrews 12:7-10, the author of Hebrews succinctly describes the Biblical perspective regarding discipline: It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as {His} sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For they {Earthly Parents} disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he {God} disciplines us for our good, that we may share his {God's} holiness.". n “Seek First the Treasure,” we explored Jesus' words in Matthew 6:19–24 and the critical question of where we place our treasure and attention. Jesus does not ask if we treasure something, but where we treasure it. The central truth is this: you can build your life on what can be taken, or you can build your life on what cannot.Jesus invites us to examine our calendars, our finances, and our attention, because these reveal what we truly treasure. Earthly treasures are always vulnerable. Like thieves that steal not only possessions but also peace, time, and joy, what we build our lives on can quietly master us.The good news is that Jesus treasured us so deeply that He gave everything on the cross, positioning Himself between two thieves to purchase us as His treasure. The gospel is not about trying harder to love God, but about letting ourselves be loved by God. When we grasp that we are His treasure, our hearts begin to reorder, our attention begins to heal, and rival masters begin to loosen their grip.Takeaways from the message:Name your treasure honestly. What would genuinely upset you if you lost it? What consumes your thoughts, time, and resources?Reclaim your attention deliberately. Attention is never neutral. What we focus on forms our souls. Redirect your gaze toward Jesus, who brings light rather than darkness.Choose one costly obedience joyfully this week. Practice generosity, create space for silence and solitude, or release control where a rival master has taken hold.
Where Christ Is, There Is Our Home Where Christ Is, . . . Today's Homily on the Feast of the Epiphany explores the manifestation of Christ . . . . . . not only to Israel, but to all nations. Through the journey of the Magi, the Homily reveals God's universal plan of salvation and the deeply personal invitation each person receives to seek, meet, and honor Christ. The Magi's response to the star becomes a spiritual model: they step outside the ordinary, look up, and allow themselves to be guided by a light beyond themselves. Seeing the star is not enough . . . they move toward Christ, recognizing that His coming is for them. Their journey reflects the innate human longing for God, a desire placed in every heart that, when followed, leads closer to Christ. . . . There Is Our Home The gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh symbolize enduring spiritual virtues . . . charity, prayer, and self-denial . . . virtues acquired along the journey rather than possessed at the outset. In contrast, Herod and Jerusalem represent resistance to grace: agitation without movement, power without surrender. Ultimately, the Epiphany is not merely an ancient story but the ongoing rhythm of Christian life. Like the Magi, believers are drawn week after week to Christ's presence, where He not only receives their offerings but gives Himself in return, gathering not just some, but all, into His saving light. Authority Under God: Scripture teaches a crucial lesson about government and leadership. Earthly authority exists, but both leaders and people remain accountable to the Lord. This truth guides how we engage politics, law, and the defense of human life.

TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible podcast! As always, Hunter invites us to keep things simple: spending time in God's Word, letting it shape and transform us, with the ultimate goal of experiencing the love of Jesus. This episode traces the dramatic story of Jacob and Esau, the struggle for blessing and birthright, and God's faithfulness in Jacob's life—even as he journeys away from home. Through heartfelt reflections, Hunter challenges the lies of separation and legalism, pointing us to a God who is close, present, and loving—not distant or angry. The episode closes with prayer, practical encouragement, and an invitation to deeper engagement with Scripture every day. So, whether you're new or a longtime listener, settle in and let today's Scriptures and reflections draw you closer to Jesus—the One who offers unconditional love and the gift of Himself, the Holy Spirit. Let's walk together, step by step, in this daily journey of faith! TODAY'S DEVOTION: He's angry. These teachers are a bunch of fakes. He's angry because these teachers of His Word ought to be offering people something real, something true. He's angry because they're a bunch of religious, self-righteous, self-serving hypocrites, and Jesus is none too happy about it. They're telling lies about God, and the main one is a lie of separation. God is separate, he's distant, and he's angry. He's angry until you perform the right religious duties, until you wash your hands the right way, until you wash your cup in just the right way, until you give the right amount of everything that you own in just the right way. Even the herbs in your garden and a thousand other things like this were all used as a way of ensuring that you knew that God was separate from you, that he was angry with you. And this message of separation served these guys well. They leveraged it for coercion and control, for power, prestige, and money. They used this lie to become important in the eyes of those with power. They liked to walk around with their flowing robes in the marketplaces. They liked when important people, powerful people, recognized them and honored them. All the while the people suffer. Jesus looked at this and declared it hogwash. He called them hypocrites, snakes, vipers. In effect, Jesus says, you say that you speak for God, but you don't know God. If you knew God, you would know his justice, not yours, which is so rarely just. You would know his love—his love which declares that God is not separate. Rather, God is here. He is with us, and God is for all people. He is wanting his people and his priests who use his name to tell the truth, to demonstrate the love and justice of God, to live in the reality of the God who is with us, the God who is their present king, because it's true and the world so desperately needs it. If you read the Bible and you're left with a God who is separate, distant, petty, and angry, more concerned with how much turmeric you tithe than he is about you loving your neighbor and knowing that you are loved, then you've been sold a lie and you have completely missed the point of who he is. Because the point of his word is to show us that God is for us, not against us. That God is good. That God is not petty, but abounding in grace and mercy. That God is present and he is full of love. This was the message of all the prophets. God. God is with you, people. Wake up. Wake up to the God who is with you. He's angry that religion has become a way to crush people's spirits with unbearable religious demands rather than something that sets them free and makes them new. Jesus begins this reading in Luke by telling us that God is something completely different than what the Pharisees are selling. Jesus says God's not like that. God is good. When you ask him for good things, he doesn't give you scorpions and snakes. He's a good father. Don't let circumstances and the seeming delay in God's response to your need dissuade you from the truth of his kindness. Like the man who's knocking and seeking and asking for bread, God comes through. So keep asking, keep knocking, keep seeking. God's not angry with you. Don't let others or the circumstances prevent you from knowing the kind of father that you really have. Your Father knows what it's like to give his children good gifts. Earthly fathers know what it's like to do that. How much more will our good Father give good gifts if we ask for them? Jesus is angry at the evil in this world that keeps people from knowing and experiencing his loving kindness. God's not angry with you. What's the gift the good Father is giving? He's giving himself. He's giving the Holy Spirit. How much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him? He is offering himself to be with us and in us. Pray that God will renew your mind so that you will no longer see your Father as separate from you and angry with you, but rather as good and kind. He wants to give you everything. May your soul, may my soul, may we know this well today. That's my prayer. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. PHILOSOPHER KINGS AND THE RIVER OF HEEDLESSNESS Colleague Professor James Romm. James Romm explores Plato's Republic, arguing that philosophers make the best kings because they perceive the true "forms" of justice rather than earthly shadows. The discussion turns to the "Myth of Er," a story of the afterlife where souls travel for a thousand years before choosing their next life. Plato warns that drinking too deeply from the River of Heedlessnesserases memory, whereas philosophers strive to recall the forms. NUMBER 11 4TH CENTURY BCE SYRACUSE
Reach Out: Please include your email and I will get back to you. Thanks!Revelation 18 An angel descends from heaven with great authority, and the earth is illuminated by his glory. He declares the fall of Babylon, calling it a dwelling for demons and a prison for every unclean spirit. Babylon is condemned for her pride, immorality, and corrupt influence over the nations. A voice from heaven urges God's people to come out of her so they will not share in her sins or plagues. Her destruction comes quickly, and kings, merchants, and sailors mourn her fall because she once brought them great wealth and power. Yet no one can save her. Babylon is thrown down with violence, never to rise again. Heaven rejoices, for God's judgment is fair, holy, and true. Her fall is a warning not to trust in earthly riches or corrupt power. Trusting in wealth, luxury, and worldly power is a dangerous foundation for life. What appears secure and impressive can collapse in an instant. The world often values success, riches, and influence, but God sees the pride and corruption behind it. When judgment comes, those who gained from evil mourn their loss, not because of love, but because their comfort is gone. God calls His people to live differently, to separate from what is impure and temporary. We are called to live with integrity, humility, and eternal purpose. Earthly riches will fade, but God's kingdom endures. Our hope must rest in Him alone. Let us pursue what is holy, knowing only what is built on Him will truly last. Holy Lord, You are righteous in all Your ways and worthy of all praise. You see through every illusion of wealth and power. Help us not to be deceived by the temporary glory of the world. Teach us to value what is eternal and to walk in purity and truth. Call us out of anything that pulls our hearts away from You. Give us wisdom to live with integrity and strength to turn from sin. May we trust in Your justice and rest in Your promises. Lead us to honor You with our lives as we wait for Your everlasting kingdom. Thought Questions: What worldly influences are you tempted to trust in over the Lord, and how can you shift your hope and allegiance fully to Him? How do you respond when God directs you to separate from things that are comfortable or convenient but are spiritually harmful? Do you believe that God's judgment will remove all the evil powers of this world? How should your daily choices today reflect that belief?
