In Matthew 9:9–13, Jesus calls Matthew, a tax collector nobody wanted, and gives him a new identity as a disciple who helps change the world. In Matthew's story, we see how Jesus calls each of us: first to Himself, into a real relationship with God. Then into groups where we grow alongside other disciples. And into teams where we join God's world-changing mission. No matter your past or how disqualified you feel, Jesus is still calling you to belong, to grow, and to go.Come worship with Hillside Covenant Church LIVE at 10:00 AM both online and in person as Wayne Phillips teaches from Matthew 9:9-13.This week's sermon notes are available at: https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZjv4D5ZyAjey9c5FXj3SbJwHVDkX4Xy41VVIf you are new to Hillside and are looking for ways to get connected and build community, visit our website: https://www.hillsidecovenant.org/ We welcome you to Hillside and are so glad you joined us today! To give in support of Hillside Covenant and its ministries follow this link: https://hillsidecovenant.churchcenter.com/givingThe sermon from Hillside Covenant Church, Sunday, August 31, 2025.

Luke 14:1,7-14
Topic: The Heart of the Matter (Ben McEachern)Tenth Commandment: You Shall Not Covet Exodus 20:1-2, 17; Deuteronomy 5:21; Matthew 15:18-20; Luke 12:13-21 This week we get to the heart of the matter…literally. At least, that's what Jesus says. Commandment Number Ten seems harmless enough, easy to rationalize with, "I can look but don't touch, want but don't act." Unfortunately, as Jesus points out, eventually you will. And even if we don't, in the coveting we stop walking with God and wander off because we will walk where we are looking. The breaking of our love relationship with God always starts here. #NorthRidge #Jesus#churchonline WELCOME PAD / MY RESPONSE -- Use this link to respond to the sermon, request prayer, or to give tithe/offerings online: https://northridgefellowship.churchce...I'M SAYING YES TO JESUS!https://northridgefellowship.churchce... Hello Hillside! You are warmly invited to church this Sunday morning to praise God, re-bond with your fellow disciples, and hear some “mission thoughts as we move ahead,” which is precisely the focus of the messages we are excited to share with you. I (Dan) remind you that church will be happening in two places: our main campus at 2060 Magnolia Way, and Civic Park in downtown Walnut Creek. So, pick a service and join your church family on Sunday morning to hear from King Jesus and be rejuvenated for the week ahead. Whichever service you attend, please be ready to notice and welcome newbies (we're getting them every week). Looking forward to seeing you!Come worship with Hillside Covenant Church LIVE at 10:00 AM both online and in person as Dan Seitz teaches from Matthew 28:18-20 & Ephesians 4:11-13.If you are new to Hillside and are looking for ways to get connected and build community, visit our website: https://www.hillsidecovenant.org/ We welcome you to Hillside and are so glad you joined us today! To give in support of Hillside Covenant and its ministries follow this link: https://hillsidecovenant.churchcenter.com/givingThe sermon from Hillside Covenant Church, Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Topic: TrustworthyNinth Commandment: You Shall Not Give False Testimony Against Your Neighbor Exodus 20:1-2, 16; Deuteronomy 5:20; Matthew 5:33-37; Ephesians 4:20-25 We lie because we are selfish. Self-interest so easily clouds the truth of what is just and dims the awareness of what is love. Then we lose our integrity. The Ninth Commandment draws a line. Those who walk with God tell the truth and will not harm another even to their own detriment. Love makes us trustworthy. We're wrapping up our Grace 180 series, Paul's 1 Thessalonians pep talk to the church. We'll be diving into the rich theology packed into his personal and intentional sign-off to this wonderful church, a sign-off that still speaks to us today. It will be a joy to unpack one of the Bible's big words together: sanctification.
